i miss the bios on the back so badly... especially with Legacy we've been getting brand new characters in Junkions and the rock guys. Who are these guys?? What is their personality like? they're strengths or weaknesses? Transformers used to love giving us bios even back in G1. It'd also be really nice for those just getting into Transformers "Oh? Bumblebee? Whats his deal?" even if you had to make a webpage and put a QR code on the box. SOMETHING.

It's so weird that only Studio Series has the little bios still. Legacy probably should have it more because of how many new characters they create. Having the toys coming in vehicle mode gave me a feeling of suspense about how the robot mode would look and feel like once I managed to pull it off, rather than just giving it all away. I also feel many toys Siege/Earthrise forwards are kinda boring, like there is something about their colorscheme, equipment and even shape that make them feel not as fancy and special as they used to be; which sucks a lot considering toy prices nowadays have skyrocketed everywhere

I really miss the og Leader Class figures, for example, Revenge Of The Fallen Leader Class Optimus Prime he's a big boy plus has authentic Peter Cullen voice and lights. It's a fun figure. I definitely would have added a waist swivel. Other than that, it's pure nostalgia from that figure. Now I'm gonna compare that to this new Transformers: One Leader Class Optimus Prime flip figure. It has a fun gimmick but is aimed at a toddler super easy for a parent to transform, but it lacks in every aspect from ROTF OP Leader Class figures. For instance, due to the evolution feature to transform him from Orian to Optimus, he can't bend his knees. The vocie isn't even Chris Hemsworth. Cheeper paint. The price is triple now, being $79.99 from the ROFT, which was $45 ish. It's honestly an overpriced Toddlers toy. I'm 21, and it just really bugs me how different the quality is, lol. Voyager Class is also the new Leader Class for collectors, and the Voyagers are far small sometimes. I also think the best packaging was for Revenge Of The Fallen. I mean, that wall of that Fallen Red color plus graphic design drew you to it! Boxes used to look colorful. At least Legacy gets that downpack. - Luke

@@BrothersWebOfficial as someone who has also owned ROTF Optimus, I think it’s quite overrated in all honesty, I’ll be using the studio series 32/44 Optimus mould for comparison. ROTF has much weaker articulation, with much more limited ankle, thigh, head rotation, and the lack of a waist, which I would usually forgive, because of the figure’s age, but we are drawing comparisons. 1-0 SS favor. as for screen accuracy, I’d say it’s a toss up between SS and ROTF because while the grey is to light on ROTF, the wheels are in the wrong place for the SS, but if taking into account the 44 version of the SS figure, it would edge ROTF out just slightly. 2-0 SS favor. while I would argue that the SS figure’s transformation is more effective and efficient, I will say the ROTF’s transformation is more fun. Tie. as for the alt mode, it’s no contest, ROTF wins easily, but not because of the fault of the SS because it having the circumcised smoke stacks is not a design choice, rather a necessity for “safety standards” which I don’t understand, but it is what it is, the only actual flaw that is a fault of the SS figure is the feet on the bed/trailer hitch, and the slightly of proportions of the cab compared to the engine section. 2-1 SS favor Ultimately the ROTF Optimus is a great figure, it’s just dated, be it the lack of standardized articulation, the engineering philosophy being much more panel heavy and unavailability nowadays just hold it back in comparison to modern offerings. Also, before you say it, yes, ROTF prime is bigger, but you gotta take into account that with Hasbro, to account for inflation, for a while they simply shrunk figures instead of raising their prices, now they stopped doing that and started raising the prices to keep one unified scale from siege and studio series onwards, plastic prices aren’t what they used to be, and money isn’t as valuable anymore, things will eventually shrink and become more expensive with time, just a reality of late stage capitalism.

@@OogaBooga24723Studio Series is a line made for collectors, ROTF Optimus was made with children in mind hence the lights and sounds. I think studio series is overrated, bayformers designs do not translate to small figures. The 2007 bumblebee is a mess of detail and kibble that it’s not fun to transform or pose at all.

I miss vehicle mode packaging too! It was part of the allure of the toy for me, seeing what car I wanted, then trying to figure out how the car would come apart to make a robot. Especially when it came to characters I didn’t recognize, I would still want them purely because I saw the cool alt mode they have. When it’s rows and rows of various sci-fi robots without much to really differentiate them, it makes it hard to stand out on the shelf.

I still remember when Basics/Legends/Core Class types of figures were around $4-$5, Deluxe Class $8-$10, Mega Class $15, Ultra/Voyager Class $20, Super Class $30, Supreme Class $40, Leader Class $40-$50, Commander Class $80, and Titan Class $150. Now Core Class is double and then some $10-$15 depending on where you find it. Deluxe Class is now double and more around $25-$35 once again depending on where you find them. Now Mega Class $40-$45 (Beast Wars reissues), Ultra Class $50-$60 (Beast Wars reissues), Voyager Class $35, Leader Class $55-$60, Commander Class $90-$100, and Titan Class $200 or more. And this inflation has started around 2010 and has just been going up, up, up, and up………. When is it all going to just level out or decrease some?

What i miss the most about old figures are the gimmicks, before, the figures had hidden guns, shootable guns, hidden swords, auto-transforming pieces, lights and sounds, and more, and that was so good, gave figures life, while now figures are just a generic and boring piece of plastic that can do poses and thats it

They really did add to the figure so they'd be nice to have return even in just a small way. They could've easily given the Legacy Animated Optimus the same ability to have his face shield like the original Animated Optimus had and it wouldn't be all that intrusive. Honestly the only one who had a gimmick that pissed me off was Barricade cause I would always accidentally hit the little trigger on his arm while trying to transform him.

The packaging for the first Transformers movie toys is beautiful, had massive appeal to me whenever I saw them on the store shelves. What the manufacturer fails to realize is that packaging plays a major role in attracting customers. Nowadays, the figure is placed in a windowless box, secured to a piece of cheap cardboard, the accessories are literally wrapped in a toilet paper like material. Before you say that the figure is meant to be opened anyway, the packaging is part of the experience and shouldn't be treated in such half-assed fashion. Ironic that they realized this themselves and reverted back to the classic packaging for the G1 Retro series, but the damage is already done.

Newer toys, especially with red plastic panels have so many stress marks simply from transformation. I pity future collectors because now everything has gold plastic syndrome, but for some reason the fandom isn't acknowledging it. If you own titan Scorponok, check his back, I guarantee there's going to be awful white stress marks, even if you barely played with it. Also the figures discolor so quickly along the joints. Tigatron, Dinobot and every re-use of the siege Megatron mold have this issue. Pieces of my dotm ss shockwave and rotf ss jetfire are simply crumbling because the joints are too large for the crud plastic they use now.
