This is the first time I have commented here. Watching this video I just wanted to give you a big hug, what is going on in your life is private and has nothing to do with anyone else. I absolutely love watching your videos, you give so many great tips with everything, hair, makeup, lifestyle. Unfortunately life has its ups and downs, this is also the downside of social media, but you will come out of this an even stronger women, sending you big hugs and love from 🇬🇧 Take care 🥰

I am a woman in my 70’s and this video has left me speechless. You are beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. All I can say is that you are the epitome of class. There is not a woman here who can’t be empathic to what you are going through right now. You are the ideal modern woman who faces life with class and grace. Don’t ever try to justify living your life as you are.

Dominique I want you to know that in late 2019 my eldest son passed away, he was a firefighter medic. It was the beginning of the pandemic. I became very overwhelmed with grief. One late night I was on my phone and came across your channel. You saved my life, you saved the rest of my family. You made me get up, get dressed, put on makeup, and so much more. You are a beautiful soul, a beautiful daughter to your Heavenly Father. We are all perfectly, imperfect. Thank you for saving me, from my despair. Hugging you through the cloud

The love of my life walked out on me about 4 months ago, after nearly 38 years of marriage. I was blindsided, shattered. I cry in private, I smile in public. I don't have another 38 years to build a new life. What the rest of my life will look like is entirely up to me. Well, when you go to the grocery store, you can pick out exactly what YOU want for dinner. I always thought of my husband. Now, you can think about what You want! Please treat yourself to some nice experiences, and buy yourself a snazzy, new outfit that makes you feel like a million dollars. I suggest you get involved with a good church, volunteer to help the poor, needy. God bless you. You are in my prayers. Oh, my mom said, if you want a husband, go to church, talk to people over coffee and donuts. You can make some new girlfriends too!

The best part of this sentence is "what the rest of my life will look like is entirely up to me" Exactly. Enjoy it. Embrace the pain you must feel....feel it, and move on. Live for you and only you for a change. I love my husband of 34 years, but there are many days that this doesn't sound so bad.

Dear Signum I wish you all the best for your future. Whenever you feel bad, remember this „ where a door shuts, there is always a window that opens“. Good things will come to you, you will see. I've been a marriage and family therapist for over 30 years. Believe me when I say that outside of your immediate family, you don't owe anyone else an explanation or justification for decisions made in your personal life. Sharing too much just opens the door for judgment and criticism from those who don't have a clue. Be true to yourself, talk to God often, and don't allow the noise to drown out your spirit.

"Influencers" and others in the public media walk a fine line in terms of giving personal information. The desire of the content creator to be "relatable" combines with the interest of some viewers/listeners for personal details. When too much personal information is given, and especially when the information involves family members, the unintended consequences can be very painful. Often, young and innocent people are affected. As a public relations professional, I have seen the result of poor boundary choices and (worst) TMI, "letting it all hang out in public". No healthy purpose is served, in these situations.

Maybe I am selfish, but I love your transparency on this channel whether it is a lot or a little. It is so beautiful. Marraige is complicated, life is pure pain sometimes. There are things that you talk about that really help women and for women that do not have a positive female influence, you are it! I believe you have a gift in this work and you share that gift with the world. We need you! Please ignore the negative and hate. I watch , but I don't comment much because I am not brave, but lately I am so exhausted of the hatered and misery in people willing to go slap another. Love is truly from God and the gift in you is being attacked. Stand strong and stay steady, you will navigate your way through this!

How anyone could criticize you or have any negative words against you is appalling and is a direct reflection of what kind of person they are. I commend you for how you hold yourself up and keep moving forward with such grace. Despite what you may be going through, you still fill our need each week to see you put that smile on and give us what we are looking for. And I believe we all watch you for different reasons…makeup, hair, clothing, skin care, exercise, self care etc etc etc. Please don’t let the negativity affect you! My husband died suddenly in December 2021. My 31 year old son died suddenly on February 2nd. As I heard you talk about life going on and getting criticized for smiling or talking about something happy it occurs to me that the pain and judgment is similar. The pain of losing my husband was so bad. But losing my son is just a horrific nightmare that I can’t wake up from. I can’t control what happened. But I can control washing my face and brushing my teeth and putting on makeup. Wanting to look as good for my son as possible, I went back to a video of yours from years ago … the KVD Shade and Light and used it as a reference for putting on my eye shadow. I didn’t follow it exactly, but I want you to know that your videos, this one and countless others, provide help and even comfort to hundreds of thousands women. I am one of them. I understand why you felt the need to post this video, but I also hope that you never put out this type of video again. You don’t owe anyone an apology or an explanation. You said it best … if they don’t like you they can unfollow you. If they don’t, I hope you will unfollow them. The people who post such things are not worth your time or space in your head. And I know that those people are just a teeny, tiny, minuscule number of your followers. I miss my son and my husband every minute of every day. I have discovered what it is like to have a panic attack. Whether you are doing a video or tutorial on blowing out hair, makeup, skin care, whatever … the kindness that you exude is a comfort. And that far outweighs the morons who post insults. When we smile or take care of ourselves, we are not diminishing our pain. We may live in pain, but we don’t have to put it on display for the world.

My oldest daughter, 31, passed away in November 2019. By the grace of God, I discovered your KZitem channel at some point during lockdown. I live in a remote, isolated area on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan, so I'd never heard of you before. And because I live in such a remote area, where winter lasts 6-7 months, there are no resources, such as grief groups or gyms. Winter is a very long, dark, lonely time under the best of circumstances. I just want you to know you have played an integral role in my recovery. You've reminded me to not abandon self-care. You've inspired me with your class and grace. You've helped me not turn to the bottle to deal with my pain. We're the same age, so you've helped me navigate menopause coming at a time when I was already struggling. You've allowed me to pretend we're friends and I didn't have to feel so alone. I admire your beauty, inside and out. It's almost 27 months since my daughter left, and I can honestly say I'm doing well. Losing a child is our worst nightmare as mothers. I couldn't have made it without my Lord, and He used you as an instrument in my healing. Thank you. This is yet another season in our lives as women and you'll come through it just fine, too. God bless.

You are going through a change in your life and change is never easy be it good or bad it is unfamiliar. No excuses are needed to be offered. Your life has been in the public eye but you have every right to your privacy as every human does. Please take care of yourself and your family. Do what you have to with your best interest at heart. Dominique, this is the first time I’ve written. You’ve given us all so much. I’ve been widowed twice and at mid nite when I can’t sleep I love to look at your posts. Your love for all of us, your happiness with Nick and your family, your beautiful home and your happy retirement - all lightened my spirits, especially over these terrible two years of isolation. Now you are suffering- and I can’t imagine anyone so cruel as to attack you now. Clearly, you gave your marriage your all. Maybe there are people out there who couldn’t stand seeing you be happy. People who were waiting for the shoe to drop. But you have been there for us- for me- and I am there for you. It’s OK (and very brave) to be vulnerable. And to share your vulnerability with us. It’s a form of the self-care you’ve taught us. This post was so raw but so eloquent. As we say in Judaism, “May you go from strength to strength”. You are truly a Woman of Valor. Please never doubt that.🌹💕

If things are difficult for those of us not in the public domain, I can’t imagine what it’s like for those being followed by the public. I’ve enjoyed your videos but I don’t feel I’m entitled to know about your personal life. I think this was a great video and must have been extremely difficult to make. I applaud your honesty and strength. We hide things at various times throughout our lives for different reasons and shouldn’t be expected to make them public. I respect you as a woman and wish you all the love and strength you need going forward.

One thing I have learned, in my 68 years Dominique, is that in times like this, when one feels at their most most vulnerable, you need to give yourself time to just be you.....give your emotions room to run their course. To me true strength is acknowledging when it's your turn to need support and guidance. Only then can you take that deep breath and put the other foot forward and continue your journey. Focus on the love and support of your physical family and friends and that from those of us who can only be there for you virtually. Just know that we love you no matter what - even on a bad hair day !!😘Christine

I watched this when you first uploaded it and I had to step back because it brought back many memories for me. Forty years ago I was an anchorwoman in a major market. My life appeared to be perfect, but behind the camera I was living in fear because I had a stalker threatening my life. He wound up to be my husband who was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The hardest thing about being a public figure is also having to deal with personal pain in the public arena. It took me 10 years to revisit it by writing my memoir. It’s so healthy that you are doing that now. Best of luck to you and you have a wonderful community who will be a great support for you. Sandra

How courageous of you. I don't feel you owe anybody an explanation. This is your personal life and should be afforded respect and understanding, and people should not question or try to get nosy to ask such personal things of you. You are so kind to try to share this all with us, but it is so unnecessary. We all have bad things happening to us in our lives and you do have a right to a private life when you are a public figure. We totally understand that too. Don't feel you have to be so explicit with us, we love you for who you are and for your kindness and sharing all your wonderful beauty tips with us. You are a kind loving woman and we all respect you and wish you the very best in your endeavors.

You have given so much of yourself for so long and I for one admire you and hope one day to touch as many lives as you have. As we age we have change in our bodies and life and minds. As I always teach remember… Wabi sabi embracing the imperfections of life in ourselves and aging a beautiful gift. You don’t have to justify to ANYONE how things ended up. We do the best we can relative to the circumstances that you are presented at a particular time. Life is short, making decisions that work for you are brave, hard and often necessary. You do you, you do what you need to do for you and your family. Dominique, your raw vulnerability is refreshing and also don’t ever feel that just because you are a public figure, you have to share personal details of your life. It’s YOUR life and it’s refreshing to see you protect those who may have caused you pain or regret, yet you respect that we all have a right to our own feelings or way of being. It doesn’t end up going how we always wanted, but that is life. It’s not always fabulous, but it’s life and we should be … as you say … bold and blessed that we get to live it to the best of our ability 👏👏😘

I'm not as good at putting on makeup as you are, but I like the result. I was so thrilled to be free of putting mascara on my lower lashes. And I never did get the magnetic lashes on. I bought the wispies you were using, but I couldn't get them on. Hang in there, this too shall pass. Oh and I love your new apartment, gorgeous view, and beautiful place, peaceful and calming. Bad marriages are worse than any singleness. Some of my married relatives literally fight EVERY hour at anytime. About the remote control, which street to go down ... about everything really. It's a misery beyond what we endure as singles ...

Sorry to hear of such a difficult time you're going through. It must be tough as a public figure with followers on every platform, to keep a brave face and look as though you're holding it all together when you have so much going on. Wishing you love and strength for the time ahead and know that we all (apart from the nasty few) respect and care for you, and take courage from the fact that you have inspired, encouraged and empowered so many of us. My darling Dominique, we have a ‘rule’ when it comes to our friends and love ones; when they are going through ‘stuff’ whatever that stuff is, that THEY control the conversation!! Full stop. Our job is love and support you, if you want to talk, we talk, if not then we don’t. We are praying for you and support you in what ever way YOU need. Love to you and your family.

Couldn't have said it better. When someone is going through stuff, it's your job as a friend to support them however *they* need it. And that includes giving them space or curbing your curiosity, if that's what they want.

Dominique, I was sitting here in the dark tonight in England, when I opened my phone to KZitem and there was your video.. Imagine my surprise to watch and hear what you said because I am about to embark on the same journey - in fact, tonight I saw a lawyer for the first time, just to see what to do. The practicalities of what I'm about to face are overwhelming, and like you, I have a full time, busy, demanding job. I also have 3 young children, so it's so very hard. Just to hear you say what you did out loud and to see the raw emotion from you gave me a feeling of solidarity that I just can't describe. It's such a scary thought, even though like you, I'm a strong independent woman and have also always worked since I was 14. All I can say is good luck to you and stay strong. I won't say it'll all be fine, but I'm also of the belief that everything happens for a reason. God bless you.

I happened upon your account when I was going through breast cancer treatment. I’ve been dealt some crushing blows with cancer & lupus. I’ve dealt with marriage issues & job loss. Through it all, I found comfort in watching you. You are a beautiful light to so many of us women. I’m 52 now & navigating my way through it all. Thank you for your candor & sharing so much with us. I’m sure I speak for so many fellow subscribers that you feel like a close friend. However, you deserve privacy & don’t owe any of us an explanation. Women should ALWAYS build each other up. We are expected to be strong, nurturing, compassionate, & wicked multitaskers. We need each other for support & nine times out ten, when I meet other women I find we have so much in common. So for the ones who feel the need to be cruel, it’s truly shameful. Let’s spread the love & support. We all want YOU to be ok & your subscribers who love you understand.

Hang in there. You do not need affirmation from us, you are our inspiration. Your private life should be just that, and it’s not anyones business unless you ask for support. Anticipate the lows ( first Christmas in a new situation for example), and set yourself up to win by making sure you will spend the day with supportive people and being busy. And don’t forget to be there for your kids who will also be going through mixed emotions. This too shall pass. Been there, and as one person said.. it DOES get better, just get through each day with class and grace, not matter what everyone else is doing. Sending you hugs and hugs.

The saddest thing about this video is that you had to do it. You have a right to privacy and dignity regardless of the job you do in the world and your job is in the entertainment industry and you are great at your job. Oh Dominique. I can’t even imagine how why anyone would feel the need to be mean to you or not respect your privacy. Everyone goes through difficult times and life changes and no one should judge. You must absolutely deal with it in whatever way works for you and I would be the same with the busying (and have been in past situations). You have been an inspiration to me over the last few years and I think you are one of the nicest people with class, grace and integrity. Thank you for what you do for us. Keep on being you. Sending love and hugs from the UK. X

I don’t think people are mean. I just think if you put your life out there of-course people will talk. When they put couple of weeks ago a video about their happy life and weeks after your getting divorced than it becomes public talk . It means that people just stop believing what they see on those videos. If a person wants to be private than there is no need to talk about your family or marriage.

I for one appreciate your transparency, as I am the same as you - an open book! Unfortunately, we now live in a society that continues to grow more mean and hateful with each passing day. There are those that get "offended" by just about anyone and any thing, and there are those that feel they "have the right" to say whatever they want to anyone. Obviously the latter group feel "entitled," and were never taught by their parents that if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. I think you are a lovely person who produces wonderful content for middle age women, and I appreciate you! No one has the right to pass judgement on you or anyone else for that matter. There is but one Judge. Stay strong love and carry on - this too shall pass.

Dominique, I went through the exact same thing you’re going through a few years back. I was 50 at the time. Just like you it was the end of a job, a marriage, and I had to start over in a new home. I wish I knew you so I could share the insight that I gained. I’ve learned so much about myself and I think those things happened Because I needed to know myself better so I could live more authentically. I am happier now than I’ve ever been but when I was going through it, It was frightening and painful and I can see that in your eyes. I know you are going to come out the other side stronger, happier, and you’re going to discover why this needed to happen. One day in the not too distant future you’re going to look back and consider yourself so blessed for the lesson. Remember, God knows exactly what he’s doing and he loves you.

This ... you took the words out of my mouth. I was divorced at 33 with a 10 year old daughter, widowed at 47 when the other half of my empty marriage had strokes and died (I was the constant caregiver for a man who was basically an angry roommate for six of nine years of marriage and constantly told me how dull and annoying I was until the strokes made him apologize for not loving me enough), and now I am happily married to the man I was born for... when we were getting to know each other, he told me that even if I didn’t notice it, life was becoming new and was going to be better than anything I’ve ever known ... and that one day, I’d look up and it would be too late to stop it. You will look up one day and see the blessings in this. Sending you love ♥️ (I’ve been a fan since 1996 ☺️)

Why not pull back from being a full on open book? Personally I love your content about interiors, styling etc. Do not need to have your family and personal stuff. There are very successful channels without the personal side. For example the exercise channel of Schellea Fowler Fabulous 50s. I’m sure there’s a big audience online for non personal content. Be free and happy and give yourself a break!! I believe your content is enough. X xx
