I realized, nothing in my marine corps career would ever come close to how much the transition sucked. Getting medically separated, being physically disabled, legs, hips torn, back fucked up, nerves messed up, shoulders and chest messed up, homeless for a bit, fighting the VA for some health care.....that, that sucks. I've been in physical rehabilitation for the last 5 fucking years. I gave up my prime years, my late teens and early 20s, just to come back, and be on bed rest and rehab. What a waste of my youth. And as it stands, my physical injuries won't ever recover. It's been years. I look back at my years of service and think, shit back then was elementary school compared to this. Embrace the suck, I did, and life now is 100Xs worse. I know truly know what suck is. And it sure as hell wasn't my rime in the marines. It's the time after.

That’s what you wanna make your claim to fame? Sleeping in “crappy conditions”? Half the enemies we fight had it worse than you ever could but more often than not infantrymen don’t respect the enemies fortitude. Kinda hard to pretend you’re tough when the majority of 11B are lucky to get a CIB for shooting at a hill till arty finishes the job. It’s easy to pretend you’re some badass when the government teaches you that fuck fuck games make you a warrior only to find out no amount of petty BS will actually prepare you for when some goat herder paints the wall with your buddies head. Believe it or not you have plenty of men who try to enjoy life and don’t make things unnecessarily difficult like some 18 year old who thinks glorified camping turned them into Rambo. Maybe we should spend more time trying to get the job done and treating our fellow men with respect as adults instead of using your MOS as a dick measuring contest.
