Reason Stephen kings description of Pennywise is so contradictory is two reasons 1. he’s really an alien Shapeshifter from another dimension who crash landed on earth during the time of the dinosaurs. He also appears in the book as a mummy, wolf man, and Beverly’s dad at various points. 2. King has confessed this he wrote the first draft of IT when he was at the peak of his cocaine addiction and was lacking most higher brain functions at the time.

I don't think Pennywise being an alien shape-shifting explains the weird, unnecessary inconsistencies in Pennywise's design. Like his eyes constantly changing color or his clothes making no visual sense or his color pallete constantly changing. I think Stephen was just way too high.

Funny story aboot the Thing. There were actually going to include the three-eyed form in the prequel, finished building and filming the creature, too. The idea was to suggest that it was the original pilot of the spaceship, with the Thing being a specimen collected for a sort of "alien zoo" that they didn't realize was an imitation, which eventually broke out and killed the pilot, causing the ship to crash. None of that would have been explicit in the film, but that was the idea behind it anwyas, which is pretty clever as a way to make that shape have some sort of weight to the story, without saying the Thing has a "true" form, which to be honest doesn't make a lot of sense, at least in the films. Why wasn't it in the finished film, then? Same reasons everything else good got cut out of it: to shove a bunch of shitty cgi garbage in its place.

I find myself looking forward to more of these " make the character look like the book, not the movie or TV show " vidz, even though I have to give Steve King some slack ( Praise "Bob" ), and say that Pennywise is an outer-dimensional creature that never quite looks the same way twice because his real appearance is far and away more horrible than a cleaned up John Wayne Gacy. After all, he imitates the Mummy, the Wolfman, and many other creatures , including the Black Lagoon Creature and a shifting, uncertain figure that really never focuses upon one form. He wants to scare you, not be drawn on form all the time.
