I have previously pulled off being awake for a week or so, several times in my life, luckily I never suffered anything like that. Staying awake for so long depends on age, health and individual bodies. Before 20 you can easily pull off such no sleep nights but the symptoms won't be visible or at least won't be so hard. When I was 16 years old, we were preparing for a talent show and that took 7 days including the show. Throughout the preparation and show I never slept or rested at all. On the last day at dawn I even climbed an antenna of about 150 feet but, other than feeling tired and sleepy, I have never felt anything. On the 7th day around 8pm, I slept and woke up next morning feeling fine. I still wonder how I managed those days without any health issue.

When I was younger like 13 I stayed up for about 4 1/2 days and didn’t notice a big impact. I kept myself occupied by swimming, running, and playing some games but I only slept because I got bored of everyone being asleep. Being 20 now, staying up a full 24 or 48 hours occurs often especially with college. I’ve always wondered how my driving would be impaired if I drank alcohol. If it’s really like having a BAC of 0.10% when staying up then I guess I’d drive decent when intoxicated

In years, i trained myself to lower my sleep time, little by little, to my body limit. From many years i sleep only 4 hours a day, not needing an alarm to wake me up. When my son was born I went 5 days with zero sleep. After 48 hours I turned into Spiderman as I was aware of everything going on. Then on day 5 I started missing simple things like seeing pillows on a sofa or missed details on faces. By the end of day 5 I had to think about every step I took like you do when your drunk. I sat down to make a bottle and realized I was falling asleep for a few seconds at a time. I had a family member watch the newborn and told them I needed sleep but when I laid down I couldn’t sleep. After a few minutes I got up and went to see my son only to realize I’d actually been asleep for hours. I saw my son asleep in his crib and I sat down by the crib and passed out for 10 hours. Wife woke me up the next day and I felt like I’d had the best sleep of my life. Was a crazy time!

Was in the Army a bit over a decade ago, during the final 9 days of basic training our drill instructors denied us sleep. They never let us get a chance to do so and utilized the time to clean the barracks to a spotless condition, same with our weapons and gear. Ironically on the way home between basic and AIT I was unable to sleep until the 10th day. An interesting side effect that still happens to me is that I can be fine on as little as 3 hours of sleep and be fine.

In the end its not worth it because the damage u will do will build up, regardless of speed, or drugs. Not sleeping is extremely bad for mental health. Bad mental health, creates badder health. Ive went 9 days before and Ive often "mad stan" ed . So some corrections The video tries to portray this as practically being stoned within 24 hours and that simply is not true. Things like co-ordination and slurred speech dont really start happening until REM deprivation hallucinations start happening which typically do not start until at LEAST 3 days awake. While you are definitely effected at this point, its NOT as debilitating as this makes it out to be. You can more or less function as normal. Your attention is a bit erratic at this point. Ive worked regularly under this level. Erratic emotional behavior does not kick in until about day five or so. Its not paranoid or hyper vigilant. Its more just being a bit more short tempered than usual. You seriously would just mistake it for having a bad day. Its also about this point when physiological effects start to be felt. Heart palpitations, headache, difficulty urinating, joint pain, etc. Its not till the weekend you start to become useless. Shambling around like a zombie with the cognitive ability of a bored child. That said, one thing that is accurate is when you go that long it IS difficult to finally force yourself to sleep. Your brain does not want to shut off and there is a degree of paranoia that you wont wake up again that keeps the wheels churning. In the end though, there is no permanent damage done. You pay the sleep debt (which tends to a fraction of what was lost) and get back to your daily routine like nothing happened. So there is a lot of over exaggeration in this video.

Not getting enough sleep for a week, or longer, can have serious negative effects on your health, both physically and mentally. Prolonged sleep deprivation can lead to a host of physical symptoms, such as fatigue, irritability, decreased cognitive function and impaired motor skills. It can also have serious effects on your mental health, leading to depression, anxiety and an increased risk of developing a mental disorder. A lack of sleep can also affect your immune system, making you more susceptible to illness, and can also increase your risk of developing chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Additionally, sleep deprivation can cause hallucinations, confusion, and paranoia, and in severe cases, it can lead to a condition known as delirium which is characterized by confusion, disorientation, and hallucinations. It's important to note that while humans can survive for short periods of time without sleep, chronic sleep deprivation can have severe consequences, and it's crucial to maintain a healthy sleep schedule to ensure overall well-being.

I've lived on an average of 5-7 hrs of broken sleep for most of my life. Very light sleeper and drugs dont have affect. Usually up every 1-2hrs to pee. Longest i've gone tho is only 3 days of unintentional no sleep. I wouldn't wish my sleep habits on anyone. My wife is similar tho she gets more sleep on average

In Germany someone did this experiment with supervision of a doctor and had weird hallucinations, as if the dream world swept in our world, but he managed to do it and was fine after a day and a half of sleep...

5-6 days awake going through cocaine withdrawls. Intense vivid hallucinations and paranoid delusions. Talking to people who weren't there, INTENSE waking dreams where I was awake but dreaming and acting them out. Very scary experiance I could have killed family members easily without realising or knowing what I was doing

My issue is sleeping but being awake at the same time. What is that? I can be completely relaxed and start dreaming and snoring but can hear everything going on around me. Im gonna google it but i thought I’d ask lol Edit I’m a mother and barely get any sleep at all. Plus mental health is in the garbage most of the month. I need to fix my life lol

Sorry, don't believe some of these commenters stating they've stayed up this long, and nothing happens. Dozing and quick naps count as a form of sleep. Only getting 3hrs of sleep a night, doesn't equal staying up 24/7. 🙄

They actually made a movie about this, although it's not that great. I've definitely done 48 hours without any sleep at all and possibly longer but can't be sure since that was years ago. It wasn't out of choice but rather being so sick I couldn't sleep and when I had a disastrous move.

I’ve spent 4 days without any sleep related to insomnia shit, honestly I did feel awful but the worst thing by far for me was my digestive system. I just felt sick 24/7, had excruciating cramps and my body kept trying to throw up, it was hell.

This is not hypothetical for me. I didn't sleep at all for two months from December 2018 to February 2019. I felt like death warmed over. I couldn't even walk right anymore.

Its true. I tried it, i was hearing and seing things at days 3. On day 4 i tried to sleep at 8pm and kept jumping when falling sleep, hearing scary stuff, hearing laughs, heavy breathing near me, kept seing so much things in my head when trying to sleep. Until 3pm the next day i finally fell asleep. Had many nightmares day 4-5

Dang that’s a lot of hallucinations. The most I had was one when I was awake for 3 days, I was driving at the time at night and it was just me on the road. The light was green so I continued my pace until I came up on the hill and saw a black shadow in the middle of the road. I slammed on my brakes and looked up to see nothing but the green light illuminating the ground and the inside of the car.

They did an experiment here in the UK in the form of a TV show where they had a group of people. (with prize money for the last person standing of course) I think it was called Shattered and might be on KZitem.
