Melanie Lynskey is such a fantastic actor. Her Kathleen is so menacing, but also, yeah, like would have been a grade school teacher pre-apocalypse. She’s an original character for the show. Melanie is in another fantastic show called Yellowjacket. She’s been in the business for several decades, but has gotten more high profile work the last several years. The 4th episode hit me the hardest, but not for the same reason it does everyone else. Yes, the end killed me emotionally, but I am deaf. So the point about having to wait for info is SOOOO valid. It is VERY extremely scary to have to depend on a lag for info. Having had to go through surgeries in hospitals without the ability to hear is TERRIFYING. Being from my area and growing up hearing meant there was no ASL available to have learned a bit before losing my hearing as an adult. I still only have bits and pieces known to me. So thankful I now have Cochlears which help as long as there is juice in the batteries. But having to depend on everything written down is annoying to both me and the one TRYING to relay info. It's SO time-consuming too.

She is also married to Jason Ritter ("Three's Company" John Ritter's son), with whom she shares a daughter with. The couple in the Cabin were Graham Greene and Elaine Miles. You should remember GG from "Dances with Wolves" and EM is best known for 1990-95 tv series "Northern Exposure playing 'Marilyn Whirlwind. Both are Native American Actors. If I am remembering right, Joel is a little upset with Tommy because thanks to Tommy in Ep.1, Sara gets killed. Because of Sara and his panic attacks, Joel is afraid that he will not be able to deliver Ellie to the Fireflies so that they can develop the antidote. So, he wants to trust his brother to finish his duty. Unfortunately, by the end of episode 6, it may not work out like he planned. Just ask yourself, would they kill the 2 main characters?? about Melanie Lynskey casting as a brand new character: first when they announced HBO is doing a show about this, i knew it was gonna be good, cause you know its HBO.... when they announced Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, i knew they had some good ideas when it comes to casting, didnt see Pedro at first as Joel but man he won me over... when they announced Lynskey was joinging the show.... i knew they were going for nothing but the best, the under-the-radar heavy hitters! She was the best thing about "Two and a half men" (Stalker Neighbour Rose) and was great in her early years in Peter Jacksons "Heavenly Creatures". also Netflix "I dont feel at home in this world anymore" just showed what a powerhouse she really is. Now i have seen Yellowjackets season 1 which i loved and shes fantastic in that too, but havent seen Season 2 yet so i cant fully judge on that role, but S1 was a fantastic performance! This episode is so complex. Henry giving up Michael gave the resistance a martyr, the impetus for Kathleen to overthrow FEDRA. But Kathleen's obsession with Henry left Kansas almost defenceless. When the infected erupted out of that sink hole, chances are they made straight for the city, and thousands would have had little to no protection. I imagine all that was running through Henry's head after he was forced to kill Sam. There was a good chance an entire city was destroyed, and everything he did, everything that happened, was all for nothing. It's little wonder he puts the gun to his own head. It's hard hitting, but excellent writing that weaves new plot threads into the story established by the game.

Alaskan, here. The Lights are from solar storms causing particles to enter Earth's atmosphere. The particles react with gases and cause the lights. In some cases, they can be viewed as far south as the Mediterranean/southern US. What makes them difficult to see is usually the light pollution. So, yes, you can see them in places like Wyoming sometimes, but they aren't as common as them being further north, like Alaska, Greenland, the Yukon.
