I like the newly unveiled 2024 Mustang but the S197 Mustang has a retro charm that doesn't age. Whenever I see a good condition 2005 Mustang GT in a parking lot I am still awe struck by how good they look even in 2022. They just look like a real 60's Mustang should in modern day sheet metal. Not better engine, just a bigger engine. A 5.0 liter vs. 4.6 liter which brings a little more power. Having said that, the 2005 to 2009 was the most reliable of all Mustangs and all Sport cars, muscle cars, etc. The 2010 thru 2023 have some issues which lower the reliability of the Mustang. Check out Consumer Reports where they were surprised how reliable the 2005 thru 2009 Mustang were.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars, trucks and busses including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.

Best retro body style. The 3v was a good motor. Not the power plant of the coyote, but can be built just as good or possibly a little better. Need to ponie up if you want to make this what a built of a coyote motor can deliver. You have to forge all the internal parts of a 3v. You can get away with just replacing the oil pump gears if you're looking for 700 + hp in the coyote motor. 3v isn't capable of that unless you forge it. I spent the money before the the coyote motor was before nobody knew they were being developed. I probably wouldn't have done it if I knew the coyote motor was coming.

I recently had my suspension rebuilt including all bushings, shocks, struts and front control arms. The Shaker 1000 was offered right off the bat on the S197 models introduced for 2005(not 2006 as Landon said). I bought a new GT in March of 2005 and test drove several cars before purchasing. The dealer mark-ups were crazy back then, with some dealers here in SoCal asking $10,000-15,000 over sticker(for a GT)! I test drove a black GT with the Shaker 1000 and the Interior Upgrade Package, the sticker was $31,000, but the dealer was asking for $36,000, I wasn't interested. I stumbled upon a small dealership in Fullerton CA(it's still in business) that didn't have any mark-ups. I got my Premium GT for $28,000. I then bought a 2006 GT the following year when Ford had 0% financing, I bought a leftover 2009 GT in 2010, this one is loaded with HID headlamps, Glass Roof and Ambient lighting. I still own the '09, I was bummed when I reached 100,000 miles last month 😞.

I picked up a 2006 Pony Package in Windveil Blue last year. It was a grandpa's car, well cared for. Even though it's just a V6, the Grandpa owner before me put on true dual exhaust with THRUSH tube mufflers, she sounds great. I've just done the 100,000 mile maintenance with new plugs, wires, and a DEMON coil pack upgrade. Plus new tires and upgraded slotted rotors all around, and a square K&N filter in the stock air box. I didn't buy it to be a track star, I needed to trade in a Chevy with an oil leak and it looks great in a sea of crossover SUVs and mini vans.

Sounds identical to what I have and want to do. 98k on mine , v6 2006 5speed, not sure what bolt on to do first, the demon coil pack with performance 8.5 to 10 ml wires, a k and n stock or Cai. Just replaced the clutch kit and cats/ y pipe, still original after the y. Which mod you recommend first? I'm brand new to this but this thing runs really good and was completely garage kept. Couldn't pass it up for 2k from and 70 yr old female family member.

@@nimrodpaul6875 The downside to a CAI is that you need a Tuner to go with it and they seem to average $3-$400. I tested an economy CAI off EBAY without a tuner and it was throwing codes almost daily. I swapped it out back to the stock filter box with a square K&N and don't get the codes anymore. I just can't drop the money for a tuner so it is what it is. But it's still a great car and fun to drive.

The maximum speed limit in America and it’s 85 mph. Who,gives a shit about all that hp is a big expense that isn’t really necessary to enjoy the car.

I owned a 2007 GT/CS convertible since new until I had to sell it this past summer due to a bad left knee. The 5 speed manual was excellent and the clutch was perfect. Zero issues and no trips back to the dealer ever. Maintenance is key and no shortcuts should be taken. All fluids were changed ahead of schedule and I was rewarded with the best car I ever owned as far as repairs in my 50+ years of driving. The performance is fine with the 4.6L but certainly no race car. I never used it for that purpose. I'll always have kind words for this model. By the way, if wondering what I replaced it with, it was a 2014 GT with A6. Found one with just 8,000 miles on it and I hope to have the same excellent experience.

Just pick up a 2006 black Jack roush stage 1. I've been searching the internet and KZitem for information on this car. So far I have not found any information on just what changes roush made to this car. Was there any suspension upgrade. Fills like it has a short throw shifter. What brand is it. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Got my ’07 GT/CS off Craigslist because the previous owner had kids and a tiny driveway and had to get an SUV under pressure from his wife to become a “responsible” dad. Took me a while to get it into street-legal condition because all he cared about was performance mods not legal compliance but now it’s finally street-legal (at least in states other than California) despite his muffler-delete. I get stopped by everyone from little old ladies to cops complimenting the car which is hella embarrassing so I make zero effort to make it look good on the outside and instead focus on keeping it in top condition under the hood and underneath where people can’t see anyway. Plus it has the most effective anti-theft system in the world called being a stick. Only downside is changing the spark plugs is a pain in the a$$

One other problem w/S197s not mentioned is the susceptibility of the aluminum hood to corrode on the front end. It’s not rust, but the corrosion does appear as bubbling under the paint.

My first mustang was a 07 gt convertible fun car but not the fastest but a very reliable car never left me stranded in the 4 years I owned it sadly it got totalled last October ended up getting a 2011 5.0 and honestly it's a better car in every way but the 05-09 mustang will always have a special place in my heart my advice to anyone that has one if it's payed for keep it and coyote swap it way cheaper than getting a new one and you would own a sweet sleeper car
