This is so helpful!! Were eloping this weekend in Colorado and I've been told you can self solomize, but he is determined the only way to do it is at the courthouse or by someone who is ordained, and courthouses are closed due to covid and we know nothing about getting someone ordained! So he thinks we just have to give up on it. Probably doesn't help that when he asks the courthouse what to do they don't mention self solemnizing at all 😅

Planning our wedding, i started to feel overwhelmed. We were planning a very small ceremony but my side was coming from the west coast to where we live in the east coast New England. We were doing a fall wedding, its already cold in fall. When i first moved here, 50 degrees was FREEZING to me as im used to 75+. So i started to feel bad for my side because theyd be freezing outside and our wedding was so small amd theyd be coming so far, i began to think that it might just suck for them. I began to feel like i wouldn't be able to focus on my husband and our promise to each other. Then i found this! Perfect! Hes on board with it too as hes more of an anti-government-non traditional type just like i am. Im Pagan as well so i just wanted to go out in nature in private and make the promise to him with the gods as our witnesses. Its much more beautiful that way.

Weird question why should we pay for a license to get married? Its not illegal to get married. License to fish, license to drive, money money 💰 Just a thought. Why not get a notary to sign as a witness ? Its what $5 bucks 🤔 instead of signing your marriage "license" over to government control.

Hi Bre! My fiancee and I are planning to do this in the Boulder area! Did you apply for a marriage license while visiting Colorado? And if so, did you get it the same day or did you have to wait a couple days before you got it? We are planning on driving from KC to the Boulder area with just our parents and some siblings, staying for maybe 3-4 days and then flying from Denver to Alaska for our honeymoon! Just wasn't sure if there was a waiting period on the marriage license! Thanks!

Congrats Kaylee!! How exciting! Double check the county that Boulder is in, when we were deciding on exactly where to do it, I checked the Boulder area and I'm Almost positive they are the same. Summit County was where we did it and there was NO waiting time. We did get the license the day before because we had the time and didn't want to run that into our day of eloping. Whole process only look 20 minutes max. Best of Luck!!

We took our license back to the courthouse with us because we eloped on a Friday afternoon and wanted to turn it in before the weekend just to make it easier, but you can mail it in and they can send you copy’s and such once you do. And nope, we didn’t have to do a thing other than change my name on all my documents! SUPER EASY!!!

Hi! My fiance and I are planning on doing a self solemnized elopement in march. I was wondering if you had a script or you just exchanged vows and rings or you skipped doing any type of ceremony and just signed the papers? Our wedding is just going to be the two of us and a photographer so its very much private. I realize this freedom is what makes it so enjoyable, but also means I have no idea how to go about it either. I would appreciate any response thank you

Corina T first off CONGRATULATIONS!!! We wrote our own vows and exchanged those first. Then did the basic script of “ I take you _______ to be my blank ______ to have and to hold etc. “ Then we exchanged rings after that then finished everything off by signing the paper work! We felt alittle odd starting just because your nervous and no one is there to start the ceremony but yourselves but as soon as you get going there’s nothing to it!!! I LOVED it just being us and getting to say/ do what we want! So excited for you guys!! Any idea where your going to do it at?

Hey there!! My fiance and I are planning on elopement in Colorado in July next year, I was wondering how you went about getting married at sapphire point, because that's where we want to tie the knot at. We are driving from Iowa with only our parents and one of my brothers and a photographer would be there. I was wondering how you guys went about getting the license and everything.. even planing this is stressful for me.
@itsbreellis
4 жыл бұрын
Totally understand!! ITS SOOO EASY! Way easier then I thought it was going to be. You will go to the Summit County court house which is in Downtown Breckenridge, maybe a 10 minute drive from from Sapphire Point. We got our license the day before. You walk out with it in hand that day, and it’s only $30! You take it with you unsigned. Sapphire point is really easy to get to! You drive up to it and they have a trail if you want a more private area ( Even then it wasn’t that busy maybe 15 other people on a Friday in October ) once you exchange your vows and what not, go ahead and sign the paper work and turn it in! Then your married!! CONGRATULATIONS btw! It’s so nice to do something more intimate! You can even get your license that day and turn it in the same day. Just FYI they arnt open on weekends.

Just need your license, and birth certificates. The county we got married in had the paper work online so we printed it and took it with us and it made the process where we were in and out in 5 minutes. We didn't get a photographer but my husbands cousin did the same thing over the summer and they did! Im sure it would be super easy to coordinate.

We really wanted to elope st the 3m Curve on Rocky Mountain National Park. The new administration signed an executive order where everyone must wear masks on national park lands even if one doesn't see any people around them with the naked eye. I don't want to exchange vows nor pay for a photographer to take pics of us while wearing masks :-( Now we have to completely change our plans.

Oh no!! I’m so sorry! That completely sucks! There’s soooo many beautiful areas around there I’m sure you guys can still find awesome location to make it work!! If your set on photos in the national park, maybe do it for your 1 year anniversary, considering you had to change your plans! Best of luck! I know how much it sucks right now to figure out wedding plans.
