What is allergic conjunctivitis? I'm Dr. Manan Shah, I'm an ENT and allergist here at Wyndly Health. The conjunctiva is the name for the tissue that lines your inner eyelid and goes onto the eye it's sort of the whites of your eye and then goes back down under your eyelids.
When that area gets inflamed or irritated from contact with pollens or dust mite or cat or dog dander or whatever you're allergic to, that's what we call conjunctivitis, "-itis" means inflammation and conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjunctiva. If you're having this, you can use allergy eyedrops like Pataday, or you should work with an allergist to try to decrease your allergies either through immunotherapy or through other medications.
Ultimately, if you have constant allergic conjunctivitis, you're gonna wanna rub and itch your eyes, and over time that can actually damage your eyes and your vision. If you'd like to learn more, please subscribe.
