Oxymoron is figure of speech that combines contradictory words with opposing meaning . For example deafening silence and working holiday are both oxymoron. In play Romeo and Juliet why then blowing love o loving hate . Paradox is rhetorical device or self traditionally statement that can actually be true . While oxymoron is figure of speech that pairs two opposing meanings . Famous has oxymoron easter 1016 ( terrible beauty). Oxymorons symbolize. Words or pharses that when placed together, create paradox or contradictions. Thank you for your wonderful educational literary channel.

Hi, Zakir. Unfortunately, yes. Our normal studio has been shut down due to the quarantine, which is why the same faculty member (Prof. Malewitz) has been the speaker in the last few videos (he's recording them at his home). We're hoping things relax later this summer so that we can bring in more faculty members and establish a more regular schedule, but for now, we're doing as much as we can. Thanks again for supporting the series!

Hello Sir. Can you explain the difference between Oxymoron and Paradox?
@SWLF
2 жыл бұрын
Interesting question, The Cadence! Both terms draw our attention to contradictions (or seeming contradictions), but they do so in different ways. When we say oxymoron, we are talking about figurative language: how a set of key words placed next to each other (biggest little, cold heat) create seemingly self-contradictory effects. Paradoxes (which we'll actually be covering soon in this series) aren't reducible to figurative language. So you can have, say, logical paradoxes or thematic paradoxes, that are not expressed in the oxymoronic form described in this video. Hope that helps! And we hope you'll keep an eye out for our paradox video this upcoming spring!
