I agree with you about the Sabbath year being important. We will be keeping it as we are starting our own farm once we move to Alabama in June. I also keep the seventh-day Sabbath holy, simply because it is the day that God blessed and set aside as holy at creation. Jesus said it was made for man, so I accept that it was made for me. It is also a huge evidence for creation, as there are still 108 major languages in the world today that still have the name for the seventh day as Sabbath. Why would that be the case if the creation week story was not legit? Most importantly, I keep the Sabbath holy because it is a sign that it is the Lord that sanctifies me. Only He can declare a day or a person holy because only He is holy. It is vain to teach and keep for doctrines the commandments of men. Keeping the seventh-day Sabbath is not legalism...it's loyalism.

So if you don't farm but instead practice permaculture. Which is a no till method of food production that is inherently regenerative. There would technically be no need for a year of rest. Does the forest or a meadow take a year of rest? Does it not produce food every year while enhancing the nutrients available in the soil every year?

We started our garden in 2020 as well, although it was only a few plants, and I’m not sure if it counts.... but 2020 would be 1, 2021- 2, 2022-3, ‘23-4, ‘24-5, and 2025 would be the sixth, right? So, we’d be off in 2026, is that right?
@christianhomesteadingbibli4537

yes! And I'm so glad you're asking because we were about to make a mistake. We also started in 2020 and somehow we calculated that the 7th year is 2027, but it's 2026, you're right. It must have been that "7" that threw my math off. And it's also refreshingly good to see people with common sense (resting in their 7th year) instead of legalists insisting on following the Jewish Sabbatical Calendar. which is probably incorrect anyways. Sorry for the late reply my the planting season is here and we're quite busy. All the best to you!

Are you a Sabbath keeper on the 7th day? I have seen it becoming a fad among Sunday keeping Christians to keep a Sabbath for their land. The same God that outlined the Sabbath year also set the weekly Sabbath. This is my first intro to your channel so maybe you discuss more Biblical beliefs in other videos. Many of the yearly cycles and feasts were ended at the cross when the anti-type (lamb's death) met the type (Jesus' death). The Jews refused to believe Jesus was the Messiah so they continue the feast days. The weekly Sabbath, given at creation, has not been changed. I don't follow other annual Biblical cycles (returning land to orginal owners, forgiving financial debts, etc) so I havent kept the land Sabbath. (I think it applied to Isreal when it was a literal nation and Theocracy.) We do continually restore and feed our soil, which was what a 7th year rest would have done for their soil. I believe God has a purpose in the cycle, I just don't believe it applies today. Though I reserve the right for Him to prove me wrong. :-) May God bless you in your farming endeavors. Nature is God's second book.

Hi Counsel and Courage, Are we Sabbath keepers? Yes and no, We do rest one day every week, really rest, but we're not "Sabbath Keepers" in the fad way, e.g. we don't insist on resting on Saturday etc. Because I believe the intent of the Sabbath was to give us rest, not to designate one day: Saturday or Sunday a Rest Day. Ironically a lot of legalists who insist on Saturday don't really rest, they are still busy and do little work on their Sabbath day. So that defeats the purpose. Real Rest is not doing ANY chores. At all. Not picking up a crumb of bread from the floor, not washing one glass etc. And if real REST is the purpose of the Sabbath, then you can rest as well on Tuesday as on a Saturday, provided you don't do any work. I have a video about the OT Law on my other channel: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lp-q2WV3o4N1faw Now the purpose of the 7 year cycle of rest for the land is that the soil can rest as well. There is wisdom in God's commandments and I don't know why Christians don't follow that. Well, I kind of know, it's about money, and producing, every year. This is our third year of gardening, so we'll see how it turns out, we're not experienced gardeners/farmer. But I'd love to see God's faithfulness and bumper crops on year 6, and Him providing for us on the 7th year and 8th. It is confusing at first, which laws, feasts etc. we should follow, so check out my message on the OT Law, I'm curious if my reasoning convinces you... God bless you, in which state are you located?
@Boringcountrylife

@@christianhomesteadingbibli4537 I would be interested in testing the 7th and 8th year crops. I like to see how God blesses when we follow him completely. We did that with tithes and offerings and His Word is true. I enjoying better understanding the doctines from the Word, but I am not confused about anything in the OT. Nothing that challenges my faith in our Creator anyway. God established the 7th day Sabbath to end creation week. It runs through the OT and NT and Isaiah says we will still be worshipping the Lord on Sabbath in heaven and in the new earth. It doesn't take much research to see which humans admit they assigned Sunday as a day of worship and why. Will watch your video soon. Make sure your idea about Sabbath keeping isnt being influenced by what the Jews thought and the pharisees added to the law. Just bc someone set a wrong example in the past doesnt change God's actual expectations. Many blessings to you in your endeavors to be closer to the land. It's an endless and invigorating education.

if you want to follow the current Jewish calendar, the Sabbath (Seventh) year is now. 2022/2023. But how do the Rabbis know that for sure? Are they keeping records all the way from entering the land of Canaan?
@kdavis8434
2 жыл бұрын
@@christianhomesteadingbibli4537 The Jews always kept good records. That’s how they were able to keep the feast days of the Lord, as it was commanded of them. If it were not so, Jesus Christ would have corrected them on those days when he was on this earth. However from my research we are in the midst of the year now according to the Hebrew calendar. I agree with what you say about the land resting, because God says so. However I don’t believe you can just make your own dates based off when you say the seventh year is, by your work, and not Gods. That’s like saying, my sabbath day is Tuesday, because I got saved on Wednesday. Doesn’t work like that. Gods days are his days, Gods years are his years. I like the idea, and if you want to really put it to use, I would cease working on the land for the remaining of this sabbath year. Peace be with you from our Lord Jesus Christ.

also Deut 22:9 in the LXX is much easier to understand. “You shall not sow your vineyard with vines bearing fruit twice a year so that the produce and the seed are not sanctified, whatever you sow with the produce of your vineyard."
@christianhomesteadingbibli4537

hmmm, doesn't make it easier to understand for me... lol. Anyways in our climate we couldn't have vines bearing twice a year. And it changes the meaning a lot. I just looked it up in CEV and it says: Deu 22:9 If you plant a vineyard, don't plant any other fruit tree or crop in it. If you do plant something else there, you must bring to the place of worship everything you harvest from the vineyard. that is a tough one.

@@christianhomesteadingbibli4537 i guess the LXX can be taken two ways, one would be the everbearing crops they now have... that produce fruit over and over... or my original take, which i dont favor as much as the first, was plants that bear fruit at different times. this one doesnt make sense as a natrual farmer, as such plants work together in nature and i cant see reason for God to violate his own natural law.... however everbearing might allow for diseases to proliferate?
