There are many examples of the acceptance and even valuing of Intersex and androgynous people around the world before colonists forced their religious beliefs on the indigenous populations. It's a fascinating topic to research. Even today, the Catholic Church still clings to their dogma that the fate of Intersex babies should be decided by doctors who can then operate on the children to make them as 'normal' as possible in line with the binary opinion. Let's hope this barbaric viewpoint will soon be killed off by our increasing ability to communicate across nations.

I've always been really interested in cultural genders and the different ways gender and sex are considered around the world, so this is great to see! A lot of discussion around gender and sex is rooted in dismantling current Western ideas but I think looking at how gender developed in the first place, and how it developed differently in other cultures, is too often overlooked
