Emotional Intimacy is something we all want or think we want. But when it comes down to it, I find that most people retreat into sharing thoughts, instead of emotions. “I feel like you don’t care” is a thought- there’s no such feeling as “you don’t care”, otherwise we would say “I feel you don’t care” which is just as absurd. There is a feeling there though, and it’s much more vulnerable and scary to say. Maybe is “I feel unloved” maybe it’s “I feel hurt” or maybe it’s “I’m scared”. Saying any of those things would be vulnerable and intimate and terrifying but it would absolutely be emotional intolerable.
