This really screams to me a team of people who are closed off to new ideas, don’t care about fashion anymore, and simply in it for the cash grab. They really should open themselves to constructive criticism and lowering their prices. I totally get wanting to keep exclusivity, but they don’t really have anything to get excited about being exclusive to (in my humble broke ass opinion).

Pokemon is the biggest media franchise in the world, and it has a lot of adult fans, so weirdly enough there is a market for Pokémon-themed jewelry. However, I don't think there is at those prices. I could see Pokémon earrings, rings and necklaces selling like hot cakes as long as they're priced from the low hundreds to the low thousands but 30k is crazy. They do know Paul Pogba got banned, that's like half the market for 30K Pokémon necklaces gone already.

Exactly. Pokemon’s generation of fans will pay for quality materials and quality craftsmanship, but they’re not going to pay the extra 28k they’re tacking on the bill for Tiffany’s brand name. It’s honestly a shame, because that pokeball would make an absolutely adorable proposal for the right couple.

Well, I actually like part of the items (like the pokemon collab) - but it seems they forgot, that the reason the 2000's iconic necklace worked, was not only because it was featured on tv or worn by celebrities - but because it was affordable, it was an item a high schooler could buy by saving a month or two of salary from their after school or summer job, and it was affordable enough as christmas or birthday present from their parents (for middle class families)

I recently found them again in a drawer and wondered how much they were worth, all together it’s around £550, I told my aunt about this and she told me when she bought them she got them super cheap at an outlet mall. I get that they're trying to court the youth, but most of the youth either lack the necessary mad money or are more interested in brands that don't read as "stuffy" and traditional. Tiffany should have recognized that most of their core customer base is people of a certain age and planned their marketing campaign and collabs accordingly. (They did not.) Sometimes realizing you're a heritage brand and doubling down on your old bestsellers is the way to go. My two cents here.

@@athegrey True! I think part of the problem is that none of their recent hires has produced anything that doesn't read as "How do you do, fellow kids?" And this tends to push a potential new customer base away toward younger, hipper brands. I am all for new blood when it comes to jewelry. Tiffany, meantime, is in need of a millennial or possibly a Gen Z version of the likes of Elsa Peretti and Paloma Picasso--a talent that has the magic touch and can bring new life to the old house. I'm not in charge of the process, but if I was, I'd have an open call for up-and-coming jewelry designers to fill the top spot. I'm just spitballing here.

It’s a shame because they actually designed some really fun jewellery, with a lot of colour etc. that could have worked to give the brand a bit of fresh air, as long as they also made conventional pieces, and some luxury pieces to maybe attract more influencer/ celebrity growds. They could have had a split of ”traditional” lines and ”contemporary design lines” which some brands have tried or something. Every brand needs to change over time, and people are never fans of it at the time. But doing a good job and creating something exciting will win people over over time, and let them grow. This has been just a disappointing half-try with no thought or passion

I didn’t really see anything in the comments regarding Nike, so I just wanted to share some information. There is a skateboard brand named “Diamond Supply Co” that used the Tiffany color way for the Nike SB dunk. Original Diamond dunks can cost over $3000 (retailed for $65!). They then dropped a high top version. A few years back, they did another release of a different variation in canary, white and black. The Nike Air Force 1 you show resembles the black pair a bit. I think Nike and Tiffany saw the previous success of of the Diamond dunks and wanted to profit off of the value and limited demand with their official collaboration release. However the silhouette of the AF1, although widely popular, rarely has demand on the resale market. It still managed to resale for almost $2K though, despite retailing at $400, which is a lot for an AF1. The Tiffany x Nike shoe doesn’t have demand for a high end collaboration compared to other high end releases, or even to the predecessor dunk low that I believe sparked the concept. Also, our local Tiffany & Co had a sign specifically stating that they were not selling the sneakers in their storefronts. Idk about the reasoning behind the other collaboration products though 😅.

Oh no.....😮 They should stay on the route of classic, sassy and elegance. Back to their roots while doing a small change. My sis has our grandma's Tiffany & Co. Bracelet, ring and necklace from 1960s. Barely wears it, its super expensive and difficult to polish. I have my aunt's Tiffany & Co engagement ring. Barely worn, I'm afraid to lose a one of a kind piece. Overall, if they want to be seen relevant again. They need to re-release their brand by beginning at their roots and selling them as low as $350 - $7, 629. Median expensive pieces $7,700 - 19, 650 Highly sought after pieces starting at $20,000 - $33, 668.

Also maybe focus on the “niche” sub culture of people who are interested in their jewelry. The y2k girls seeing as it’s so in style rn a lot of people have the heart toggle necklace/bracelet on there radar. But at that 900 dollar price tag when it would have been 200 in today’s money 20 years ago. They are fumbling the bag really really bad they need to take a look at other brands. Gucci produce clothes for the wealthy but they create products that the average man can afford. Obviously speaking on the slides and t shirts that they are synonymous with I feel like they just need to lean into that and make the toggle necklace and bracelet at a affordable price and the money would be moneying. Instead of doing these dumb collabs that are not gonna sell out because people one can’t afford them nor would people want them.
