It is not. Random people don't watch poker videos on youtube. It would need to be legal in the USA and then ESPN and others will put it back in the public eye, and we can have a second boom, similar to 2003.

Doug Polk, in his most recent comments (hellmuth podcast), has obviously tried to put an end to this feud. Daniel didn't start it. he's not the cause of the issues between them, but with Doug now also becoming one of the faces of the game, I think it would be #goodforpoker if they both put that stuff behind them.

Narratives are very fun, adding story and depth to the game... it's the type of special events and the awards that create new superstars for the poker universe. I tell anyone who is interested in poker who want to play just to make money then stick to cash games, but if they want the glory then enter events and be prepared to make huge investments in exchange for building that name for yourself.

Its one of those things where the 1% are making money and the rest are just dumping. Its extremely hard to make a living off JUST POKER. Most pros you see today are business men who are wealthy outside of poker, players like Daniel and Hellmuth who have capitalized on sponsorships, or the lucky grinders that smashed a big score or heated up when the time is right and got into that elite poker club. Unfortunately poker isnt 100% skill, skill plays a big part but if it were all skill we wouldnt have dudes like Johnny Yang and Qui Nguyen winning the ME. Luck plays a huge part and these pros are well aware. Unless you are seeking out and succeeding in finding soft games where you actually have an edge, its tough to win when everyones got a HUD and charts on what to play and when or at live games where you get these dudes with the hoodies, sunglasses and headphones. No longer do you have to go to your bookstore to pick up super system in hopes to become a crusher, all the info you need is online and its easily accesible. Poker now is not what it was when Doyle and Slim were crushing it way back and even up to the newer legends like Ivey and Negreanu when they were really putting in work to get to the top. The game done changed. Which leads me back to whats good for poker........We just need people to know about it. Getting Kevin Hart as an ambassador for Pokerstars is great but when you can only play Pokerstars in New Jersey, it doesnt really make a huge impact. We need poker on TV, not on a subscription based streaming service where you are just catering to those who are already know about poker. We need online poker legal across the US, start advertising Pokerstars with the NFL, UFC, NHL etc.... And last but not least, make poker look fun again! Which is something that I think Daniel would agree on. We cant have everyone be this robot that doesnt move a muscle or speak or that tanks 30 seconds every hand. William Kassouf was great last year at the ME, brought some fun to the game. The more fun it looks the better chance we have of new and even old players that stopped playing to get back into it.

You want more interest in poker ... get the pros to play at scheduled tournaments in each regional area of the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain ... & etc. Make it a sponsored event with the entry which will attract the most players. Have regional tournaments for entries for $100. The whole works, and with an annual Pros and non-Pro winners for a million, or whatever the market will bear :) With the chance to play against the pros, I would enter in my area and I'm on SS ... but won't go the Vegas to do so. "The Chance of a Lifetime"!

Hey Daniel, big fan but I think you're off on some of these things. Sure some of these new things are good for current poker players, but I think in order for something to be considered #goodforpoker, it needs to appeal to someone who doesn't know anything about poker. Rounders was #goodforpoker because it made people want to start playing poker. Some of these events are great at keeping players but not necessarily bringing in new players. I think ultimately we need to have more easily accessible free poker. I'm more or less enjoying pokergo however the fact that it costs money and isn't on TV means that people who don't know much about poker probably aren't going to be watching any poker any time soon.
