Ive been a solo player for the majority of my time in the game since i just suck at communicating with other people and I generally think im a pretty boring person to be with. Yes, its lonely but there isnt much else i can do. People already have their own friend groups or just people they want to play and spend time with so im usually by myself. Im even in an FC but i dont even talk to anyone in it And since im a solo player, i sometimes dont feel the need to carry on playing most of the time. I usually do my dailies and beast tribes and i just… leave. I dont have anyone to talk to or chat with or anything like that so no reason to carry on staying online. I do wish to get into a friend group one day, might encourage to stay online for much longer and not be as lonely anymore but i would first need to learn how to talk to people first. But with most online friends, you play with them for a short while until you never actually talk to each other ever again. It’s rough being a solo player sometimes

If you want the FC buffs while playing solo do the following : -Roam around the world without an FC -Get invited to big ass FC that invite any non enrolled players on sight -Say hi and then immediately put the FC messages in another chat bubble / or hide FC messages from your chat entirely -Profit Of course there's a high turnover in these FCs so if you're inactive for a few weeks you'll get kicked, but chances are you'll get invited again considering how they invite anything moving on sight lol

Regarding FC buffs: You actually don’t need an FC to enjoy the best of these bonuses! You can get items from you Grand Company Squadron that, when used, activate the same kind of buffs you’d get from an FC, though they last for only 2 hours at a time. Even though I’m leader of my own tiny FC, I rarely use FC buffs (cuz I’m… usually the only one online…). So when I want to, say, do my weekly Fashion Report and Jumbo Cactpot, I just use a +15% MGP buff item on a Saturday night instead of turning on a 24-hr FC buff that’s go to waste.

At least when playing the MSQ, I think playing solo is the better experience. Playing in a group, there‘s a constant to and fro between multiplayer and mandatory solo content, which leads to having to wait for one another and frequent interruptions. In the end it will lead to you not being able to concentrate and enjoy the story to the fullest. Also, there‘s a lot of crying involved, who would want to do that in a group?

In 2009 I played a game called Ether Saga Online, I was the leader of an alliance (a bunch of clans added together in this game's systems) I loved all my members like family, and did whatever I could for them including buying things from the cash shop for them. As time went on another alliance had a firm grip over the most elite open world content and my friends pressured me to go join it with them. After a while I caved and agreed with the logic that if I truly loved them I would want them to be happy so I sacrificed everything in the name of friendship only to later find out this was but the first step in an elaborate plot to break me. The leader of the other alliance stipulated that "I don't just want them to quit the game, I want them broken. Do that and you can join my alliance." I surrendered leadership of my level 10 clan, and gave the alliance to someone who wanted to stay. Once my alliance eventually dissolved due to the successor not leading it well they made their move. They led me out to a forest area where flagging for open world PvP was permitted under the premise of an appreciation gift. They then all flagged for pvp and murdered me, laughing at me and mocking me. This event triggered my first ever severe panic attack and scarred me forever leaving me unable to trust anyone. This trauma is with me to this day, so I am a solo player on all online games because this happened to me. I sincerely hope no one else ever has to go through something like this. Just wanted to share my story and let people in the "its just a game" camp know that no, sometimes it's not. Sometimes the hurts you suffer stay with you and are life-changing. If you got to the end of this comment thank you for caring enough to read. Signed, Izlude of Fort Phoenix, ex-leader of the Bahamut Alliance.

I love being a solo player, I don't mind joining a group of randoms to do content that requires it, but enjoy going at my own pace. I have done most of the content except for savage and ultimates, that is because of my own physical and time limitations and social anxiety. If you are willing to make the effort you can get a few players to sign on to start a an FC. Once fomed they do not have to stay if they don't want to and you will have your own private fc. It just may take a little longer to level up the fc but it is do-able.

When I was still going through the MSQ I preferred to play alone. At some point I was invited to an FC and at that point I started to feel rushed because they’d ask for people to do things I hadn’t unlocked that sounded super fun (example high-level treasure maps). Once I realized the impact it was having I left the FC and decided I wouldn’t join one again until I finished the msq.

as a solo player, one of the main issues I personally have is my tank/healer anxiety, since I can't tell how other members in my raids or duties feel about how well im doing. This kinda keeps me away from levelling my tanks and healer jobs, and I stick mostly to dpsing.

One thing i liked in this game is its not forcing you to join any Free Company in order to make a good raid group unlike WoW. Tho having a static is also helpful to gear up. Progression wise you can just learn from PF and just apply on static runs.
@thesparrow1116
Жыл бұрын
Ultimates don't really require stable groups to clear, infact if you're intending to do UWU DSR or TOP I highly recommend PFing over joining a static, as how much progress you can make and how far you can get is really dependant on your own effort and skill over statics which can have lagging behind members or a lack of mindset in how fast ppl wanna clear ect. Theres the extra positive of ultimates not having "loot distribution" just totems based on clears, so instead of joining a static doing too little or too many runs than you'd like you can PF however many times you wish to. I'd also recommend TEA and UCoB for pfing but I tend to notice that those two are alot less PF'd so if you don't wanna be stuck filling a pf for 4 hours best to do those two with a static.
@Zole759
Жыл бұрын
Thing is PF can be way more toxic than just hanging and doing it with friends, yes you can progress faster but is it really worth all the drama that PF causes? I get it comes with the MMO territory, but FFXIV.. People are so passive aggressive in PF and a lot of times refuse to own up to their mistakes, and a lot more people these days disband over 1-2 wipes, meaning you're screwed if a support disbands cause those take way longer to fill than a dps.
@thesparrow1116
Жыл бұрын
@@Zole759 I would heavily argue this point, when I wanted to kill TOP and DSR so so many people wanted to join my KFFs and help me get my kill and I would wipe in really stupid ways and they'd try to cheer me up. Idk how PF is in NA but in EU its incredibly chill compared to static settings where yeah you're friends with everyone but if someone is messing up on something hard and wont own up to it its a really awkward atmosphere since you don't know what to do about approaching the situation whereas in PF if someone's giving you a hard time just leave or kick them you don't gotta see that person again ever.

When i was farming shb savages for mounts i was trying to form a group with my friend with a description (no leave untill everyone gets it) and damn, how many ppl just leave when they got it.... that was so fucking rustrating. I do understand that this content is kinda exhausting, but that was the reason why i was forming a group like that. Is it fucking hard to read and if you dont like to stay untill everybody gets it - just dont join. Even like that it is the fastest way to get your mount. Why do you leave after that? Ppl are fucking animals sometimes.. So the only thing you can do to play comfortable all the pve content i think is to find a static group/fc. Just save your nerves and dont try to do it solo :D

I would consider myself as an more casual-solo player but I play too much for this to be true. About 3-4 hours every session. I was in a few FCs but I didn’t really interacted with the people after a few months. So I decided with my friend (who plays the game once every two weeks) to make our own FC. I think this was the best decision for myself. I get all the buffs, when I play with my (*cough* 2) alts, my main doesn’t really needs them. I haven’t really payed more than 100 Gil for a teleport for about a year. Teleport-Tickets are too easy to farm. And I can trade easier with my alts this way. I’m not really interested in the savage or ultimate contend, so I don’t need people for this either. If I’m bored on my main char, I just play the story with my alt. My main is 90 with every job so I just farm the Tomestones and to a few dailies. So what do you think? Am I really only a casual player or how would you describe me? XD

These days, I played mostly solo. I'm introverted by nature, so that was completely fine by me. But still, to clear harder content, a certain amount of interaction w other player is a necessity. Of course the fc buff. That is really handy. Also, still, GC buff, which can be purchase frm GC is almost comparable to fc buffs. Its not, however comparable to crafted FC buff III. What i'm saying is, you may have missed out on the best fc buff, but not by much. Even if you played solo.😊
@Boyzby
Жыл бұрын
You don't need an FC for those buffs. In fact, you can get better versions of them just for yourself by doing Adventurer Squadrons, but the buffs only last 2 hours with each usage. The first example of spending hours farming for mounts is something I've actually experienced recently, but I really didn't care who got the mount first or second because I was playing with a friend I really like spending time with. I helped her farm mounts, she helped me farm mounts. Being in that situation with someone you like really makes a huge difference, and because of that my time playing without them has unexpectedly suffered. Even though most of the 9 years I've spent playing this game has been solo, that one month experiencing the joy of grinding all sorts of stuff in the game with someone actually made the solo play significantly lonelier and I just can't play the game anymore-and I really don't like grinding in games. I did end up doing P9S-P11S in Party Finder, my first time ever doing Savages, but all I could think of was how I wanted to share that journey with them. Plus, having any person occupy the same spot is incredibly helpful. And now, for the first time since I started playing, I'm gonna miss and event because I just don't have motivation to log in. Part of that is due to the lacking content in this expansion, but I need to do PVP for the items still.

I mean ffxiv doesn't incentivize party play at all except in savage content. Even bozja and eureka where you NEED to party, you just get an add and never talk to anyone lol. So like 95% of the game is meant to be soloed. FFXIV is more of and RPGMMO as opposed to an MMORPG.

You are wrong, MMO is not build on player INTERACTION. They are build on player COMPETITION. Pre-WoW the MMORPG had this golden age of player INTERACTION. Post-WoW things went to hell, a new group of players that had their "friends" and shat on everyone else, because they already had their friends group and didn't need to bother with the trouble of expanding the group. Secondly WoW took all the addicting/fun things from the early games and made a single player MMO. The Story was single player, the leveling was single player, the daily activity was single player, open world pvp was broken gank squads, only exception was for those idiotic raids, that gave idiots gear so they could play badly and still win, continuing the cycle of not needing anyone else. All MMO since then is either niche or have the SINGLE PLAYER focus + end game raids. Sad thing about the human race is that it is rather nasty, except it also doesn't want to die, history is one rather impressive march towards less deaths to the man at the bottom. And what does MMO lack... DEATH... So you can be a nasty asshole as much as you want without consequences and the world is full of "normal" broken people, who has suffered at work, suffered in their contact with "friends", so you can be SURE they will not be nice to most others in a MMO.
