Yep. Just this morning, I was wondering if I'm ingesting too much fat on keto since I feel nauseated - especially after adding some MCT oil. Dr. Berg just answered this. I have no gallbladder to help me digest fat - causing the nausea.

Two weeks ago, I switched from a predominantly processed carbohydrate, high sugar diet(including candy almost every day)to a keto diet. I’ve had insane cold like symptoms such a stuffy nose, sore throat and the like ever since. I figure it’s probably a long cold, but I’m sticking with it either way. Hands-down, my favorite part is that I can watch somebody eating ice cream or junk food right in front of me and I genuinely couldn’t care less whether I had it or not. That used to never be possible. I am so grateful sugar no longer has any control over me anybody out there going through a similar thing like a fast food or a nasty sugar addiction. Do a 24 hour fast and watch the cravings evaporate! SO worth it! Down 10lbs too.

Dr. Berg, hello from Belgium! :-) My husband has started the keto flu today, his 4th day....and I laughed because he thought I exaggerated my symptoms when I started keto a week ago. Mwahahaha ! Ok no worries I did come to his "rescue" with freshly squeezed lemon, water and a tsp of Himalayan rock salt. Thank you SOOO MUCH for all your precious information!! Never underestimate how many lives you are changing for the better! ....oh yeah a big "BONJOUR" to your wife Karen ! She's hilarious and a real compliment to you. :-)

Day 9 and I’m starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. I started to feel very weak and strange on day 3, was even questioning if this is how it should feel like? Extreme fatigue and all kinds of other things, but today was the first day I felt better. The fatigue and headache just come back for a short while and then I feel fine again. I even managed to take a short walk today so I hope it’s a good sign. I lost 6kg in first 7 days. 😯

7 months ago when I first started keto I didn't follow the doctor's orders and start slowly, I jumped right in . WOW , talk about keto flu, I remember my legs felt like lead and my head felt like an overinflated balloon. But everything straightened out and now keto is a part of my life.

When I first started and began to feel sick, a friend with some experience suggested that I was not replacing my previous carb intake with enough fat and he was right. I was still not used to eating large enough quantities of fat from years of low fat advice. I have plenty of energy and not hungry or sick after three months of keto.

Restricting calories too much ( I think less than 600 or 800) will cause symptoms,,, at first, not only keto,,, any diet,

I did the keto diet for 1 week, 2 weeks ago. I felt like crap the entire time. Could not stay hydrated, cramping all the time, brutal headaches, even vomiting. I hope the steps laid out in this video help to get through that initial period on my next attempt.

I'm on day 4 and I've got headaches and lack of energy. I've been using electrolyte powder twice daily so I'm gonna try the b vitamins as I haven't used them yet. I've just purchased a wholefood b vitamin consisting mainly of nutritional yeast.

Thanks Dr B, I was just trying to figure out why I feel not overly well lately and it's because I have been eating one tortilla wrap per day for lunch. The one thing I thought was ok. I wrap my Avocado and salad and peppers in one. I guess I should switch back to eggs. I am still losing weight, from 215 pounds to 155 5 months. Still have a bit to go. I am 5'3 and 50 years old, gave up smokes and booze many years ago to. I didn't have to have a Dr tell me to stop. God has been guiding me as I shed all that causes sin. Eating as much as three people is a sin because you steal from what God gave you to last. You take from your children when you abuse your body and lifestyle. God can make anything happen if you do as He asked. Peace be with you

Last time I eased into it and had no symptoms. This time I wanted to join the 30 day challenge of Thomas Delauer (January 2020), so I started HARD, and I feel really ill. I regret my decision. I will take it super slow now, I will eat healthy meals with few carbs, 3 meals a day for as long as it takes to not feel ill anymore. Then I will try again with some 16h IF every other day, and cleaner and cleaner keto. Gradually. This was not supposed to be torture, it was just a motivator to get back into healthy eating. So many people in this challenge are going all in, but many of them are already keto adapted and then it's easy. I see a lot of people struggling just like me. I almost feel like Thomas has lost sight of how hard it was in the beginning, the meal plan is just too strict imo. It also takes 6 days into the challenge for him to do the first live stream to answer questions. Not ideal. So here I am, falling back on good old Dr berg, he is always here for us

Thank you so much!! You are my hero! I woke up this morning feeling very ill. I have been using nutritional yeast for my dog 😁 Well I added some on my eggs and then on my salad at dinner. By lunch time I was already feeling 89% better. I was so glad to find this video and another of yours this morning.

I’m one of the ones that it takes WEEKS AND WEEKS to get fat adapted. It takes about two-four months for me. Good advice on a gradual transition, I’ll try this method.

I woke up at 3 AM nauseous and sweating I thought oh no I have COVID-19 this is only six day of diet , I was feeling great full of energy,I think it’s nauseous because of the grease or the fat in the beef I’m not use to beef or grease🤷♀️ I did order a couple things to get through this I hope it’s a very short nauseous

Cover Upper I’m better now but I still have my afternoon blah I try to take the Apple cider like 1 teaspoon with 8 ounces of water that kind of makes me tired so pickle juice seems to be my drink of choice right now 🤣I think it’s the fat I did get some products to take care of that and I wish I could lose on this diet the vegetables I have down packed I can’t tolerate broccoli, meat portions 4 to 6 ounces of meat 2 meals a day, i’m doing the healthy keto so I have my coconut oil MTC, my electrolytes, I try to make some fat bombs ,One after a meal,am starting to exercise, i’m just trying to find my balance but works for me obviously I need to change something ,I’m definitely insulin resistance,

Currently on my 2nd full day of keto - having constant nausea and fatigue, ended up taking two 2-hour naps in the last 24 hours. This video helped a lot. Sounds like I just have to find a source of B vitamins, electrolytes, and maybe include a bit more fruit to ease into it. Thanks

drinking boulion broth has been a great saver for me maybe the salt is what my body needs but if I go without the added salt I will feel horrible on the ketogenic diet my energy will suffer and I'll have achiness and head aches it's been a great saver for me thru this I've been ketogenic for two weeks now with only 5 grams of carbs per meal usually only two meals a day it's been great

Day 2 and I feel like crap. Relentless headaches, dizziness, fatigue, sore throat, emotional, super thirsty, heart palpitations after eating and hot flashes. I’m taking some of the suggestions: incorporating nutritional yeast for B, adding salt to my water and coffee, adding a little fruit to my protein shake, and taking AVC. I think I’m going to incorporate some lentils and split peas. They’re carbs, but not refined and they contain fiber. I do like that I can feel the fat burning. I’ll try it a little longer and do some more research, but I refuse to feel like crap every day. The fatigue is hard to get through when you’re a teacher.

Update: went out this same day and got some electrolyte powder and Mct oil. Added the Mct oil to my smoothie and 1 scoop electrolyte powder to my waters (drank 5-6 - 12oz bottles throughout the day, each with a scoop of powder) and I feel almost normal again! Also sprinkled 2 tbsp nutritional yeast on my eggs and avocado. Also took an aspirin to help with the headache. I was extremely dehydrated. My dry mouth went away after two days of feeling like I’ve been crawling through a desert in the middle of summer! The hot flashes and irritability are still there, but I feel so much better and the fatigue is gone.

I don't have a gall bladder and never connected the nausea to that..MCT oil in my morning coffee w/heavy cream. BUT.... I have LEFT shoulder pain... could it be related? BYW.....love love love keto. Energy of the hook... better sleep. Thank-you for all the videos. They are a Godsend.

electrolytes you lose too many see more videos another, he mentioned B5 for fatigue because it helps digest/metabolize fats. B complex is important and he recommends nutrtional yeast for B vitamins. Much success

Add more B vitamins, like nutritional yeast or try Dr Bergs raspberry lemon electrolyte powder. It tastes like lemonade but without sugar. I love it and it helped me with my headaches and weakness when I started Keto.

I'm a prediabetic and I got this Keto flu exactly 2 weeks out from the start of Keto. I am never hungry, but I got very weak and fatigued for a couple days, with sleeping alot and feeling bad with brain fog. I went ahead and had a bannana and a cup of coffee w/milk and some eggs, all in the evening. Yes, I feel better, even normal. I'm not giving up on the Keto and intermittent fasting though. I go back on first thing in the morning.

I went into ketosis cold turkey. Heart palpitations were outrageous. I stopped it at day 17. I was in full ketosis by day 5 per urine ketone test strips. I need a game plan because I want this...

So weird. When I did this in 2019 thru 2021, no problem. After a long relocation move without access to my kitchen and what I used, I gained 8 lbs in 6 months. Settled in and have everything I need. I am knocked down from this "flu" insomnia, muscle cramping etc I'm working thru

I've been eating keto for about 3 weeks. Three days ago I ate at a buffet for a company party.I tried to eat keto.I know I over did it and I almost ate two plates of food of almost all meat . I thought I was going to pass out an one point and took my gallbladder formula pill. Later that night I had I had severe stomach pain that lasted for two days. I'm thinking I had a protein/fat overload. Now, I know better and will kindly decline company Buffett trips all together

Pineapple Watermelon, Blackberries and Blueberries...and their low enough in net carbs to where they can be kept in the rotation in perpetuity. Raspberries are also low in net carbs...but high in oxalates if that's a concern for some.

I slept 15 hours the other day, I have been feeling dizzy and super super super tired kinda thirsty too. My husband has to eat a really basic carb diet for the next three day. So, I ate a beautiful plate of pasta last night. I woke up at 9.30 10 ish instead of 12 and I went for a 7km run with no breakfast. I feel fucking great today! Boo!

I eliminated alcohol, wheat, processed foods, and seed oils. I've been losing weight and feel fantastic. I don't think we have to go full keto right away if it makes us sick.

Dr Berg I never used sugar for many many years, I believe my bile is very low , I cannot go normally like I used to , I started doing what you said and I was very very sick 🤒 when I say sick “ stomach pain and very very very very very nauseous, omg it felt like first trimester in pregnancy... I'm 3 weeks and have lost nothing as far as I can tell by how my clothes fit. (Too cowardly to weigh myself right now). I would be absolutely THRILLLED if I had lost 10 pounds and my only issue was wanting a bagel. I have no appetite for the toxic crap food but I still feel lathargic, weak and have developed restless leg syndrome at night after the first week of keto. If I could just see or feel some kind of results....I think maybe my muffin top is a bit smaller when looking in the mirror but my pants are still tight and I'm still in an unGodly size 14 when God made me to be a size 10. I'm so sick of being fat.

I was size 8/10 20 years ago and looked exaclty like all these women who claim to be a size 2 or 4 nowadays. I think the clothes manufacturers lie through their teeth about clothes sizes nowadays. Luckily, i still have my REAL size 10s from back then before "vanity sizing" (aka LYING) became the norm. Those same retro size 10s in my closet would be size 2 or 4 today.

I’ve been on a soft core keto diet (high protein, 50-60g carbs/day) for 6 days and I’m feeling terrible. I will definitely load up on my dark chocolate for magnesium and potassium and pistachios and sunflower seeds for vitamin b6.

I think I’m at 3…Im constipated and feel the transition happening and it’s scary at time I’m not use to looking this skinny I think I over did it this week I had pork bacon which I don’t eat and three eggs 😢never again. I did fasting for like 20 hours and now I’m going but watery sorry folks but I’m excited to see results 360 to 240 with clear skin and lost my bum. It’s been six month of a battle the last three month have been completely life changing after smoking weed three years and consuming a high sugar diet my body is cleaning out the nasty messy life and it’s just coming off I was a 50 pants I’m now in the 40 to 30s wow! I’m ready for some holiday food not gonna over do it because my stomach is smaller now but thank you dr berg for those who are nay sayers and listening to other haters just try it, what do you have to lose. He’s telling you the truth ignore the haters trust the process you got this if I can go 360 to 237 you can too

Geezz...i just started this a few days ago and after reading through the comments it sounds like there are a lot of people that have to take pills and drink this and that and do so much to try to normalize their bodies while on this diet. Seems like we're forcing something that maybe wasn't meant for our bodies. I'm starting to wonder how healthy this really is. 😐

After years of eating the wrong foods then changing how we eat (Keto) of course our bodies are going to go through some changes both bad then good. Hang in there. This is my second time I have done keto, last time was a few years ago I felt great I think it's because I didn't do 20 + IF, last time I only did 12 to 16 hour IF. I lost the weight I wanted. This round I want to heal by hitting autophagy and all the other goodness which means I have to IF fast for over the 20 hours.

I have the same questions. I think, really, carbs can be healthy too. The Irish have high carb diets. But, my body was getting bad on carbs. I had eaten so many carbs over the years in different forms. You know I think overdoing things has gotten our bodies in trouble. Overconsumption of things our body isn’t fully using up. So much of what we eat is so processed. Just a bunch of empty calorie carbs. I think if some of us back off on carbs for a while, we can hopefully get to the point where a healthy addition of carbs may work out better at that point. That’s my theory on it. There is no doubt that keto and fasting has started to help me feel better. Will I stay on keto? Honestly, I would like to think I can return to some sane amounts of carbs one day. Keto is something I am doing to keep from sliding down a dark hole of failed health. I had some things right. I had my vitamins in place, but, fast food entered my body on too many occasions. I learned that Vitamins don’t necessarily fix a poor diet. Though I wasn’t ill in a cold/flu kind of way, my body seemed to be having problems with carbs. Dying wasn’t really an aspiration, thus keto.

Fat metabolism is slow and uses up more resources,,, up the electrolytes vitamins and decrease the amount of fats,,,

I can’t figure out why I was doing fine the first 2 weeks - only had keto insomnia but week 3 I’m having nausea and really puffy eyes and feel tired during the day . I’m taking plenty of electrolytes and potassium . I did keto last year and this didn’t happen to me . I’m so frustrated . I really feel like my head is in a vice and so lethargic mostly . Where did I go wrong??

I am FIVE DAYS IN and the nausea I can handle, the fog I can work through, THE HOT FLASHES ARE INSANE! I am going to super hydrate, add electrolytes, and drink bone broth and see if I can get through this because I want the energetic and clarity benefits!!!

I have been more tired, trouble falling asleep, runny nose since I started the keto diet, which I do in combo with intermittent fasting (had to bump it back up to 3 meals a day - because of tiredness, plus a banana with peanut butter at bedtime - because that's the only thing that helps me fall asleep even if I take calcium, magnesium and potassium at bedtime).

Great video again! How about fiber (soluble/insoluble, fermentable/non-fermentable)? I got my gut pretty funky with gallbladder deficiency -> candida -> IBS-C -> thyroid downregulation -> adrenal fatigue. I was humming alone fine on ketogenic for 2.5 years when my gut got wiped out and it's been near impossible to get back to ketogenic (even with gallbladder support and bile/hcl/enzymes). A video/post updating your RECs for gallbladder on a ketogenic diet would be great!

Its day 24 for me on the ketogenic diet and I am really sick. I have nausea, leg cramps, head aches and extreme fatigue. Anybody, just anyone out there, please help. Did anyone feel these symptoms and how long does it go on for, am literally on the verge of quitting but I really dont want to, Dr Berg makes so much sense, I just want to trust him, he says 3 days to a week to feel better, its been 24 days for me. Help!

Wednesday 3 of August, come Saturday I’ll have been on keto for 6 weeks, I don’t feel sick, I’m tired, for a week now I’ve been getting 3 hours sleep and then toss and turn for the remainder of the night. My weight has plateaued on 12 stone 2, and in the initial 5 weeks I dropped from 13, 11

I'm about 7 weeks in and was going well. But now I'm feeling nauseous, have constant very bad stomach cramps, no appetite, yellow stool and headaches. Keto people say just push through its a phase. I'm going to add bile salts, lemon, apple cider vinegar and extra greens to the diet but if that doesn't work I'm quitting as I'm in too much discomfort.

Jay Rees Are you keeping up your electrolytes? The yellow ....concerns me for you. Remember the B5 to help digest/metabloize fats. Im not expert either. Im trying to catch up on the info too. Im just guessing, maybe a lot of bile leaving your system, cleaning out your lymph system. This was my estimate of my keto flu. I had also had big stress when I got sick, so cortisol up. The lemon water help me thirst for water; I had not thirsted for water in years. Much success to you.

As I underwent adaptation, I would get nauseated. I used acv mixed in water and it did make me feel less sick. If I felt like I had had too much fat, I took psyllium fiber in water, and that would help as well.

I was sick for a week everytime I ate anything with artificial sugar I was lit headed and nauseous. I'm fine now. I'm so fine It doesn't feel like Im on a diet Im always full and still lost weight

The last thing that I want is to get sick again. Evan if I do lose weight, if I can't get out and exercise, my muscles will waste away. I will sleep all the time, which will cause me back pain. That is not a place I want to go back to. There is to much of that in my life already. Oh, and I have no gall bladder.

I have to work as a teacher, have almost no time whatsoever to got to the toilet (I have Ulcerative Colitis) and can't sit down till the evening.. Last week I fainted infront of the principal, it was just so hot, humid with a lack of fresh oxygen in the buildung, and he was like "please don't do this infront of the students"... I really don't know how I can work with this condition and constant fatigue..

I felt sick even 3 years into eating keto. I have IR as reactive hypoglycemia. I was nauseous all the time and felt my body felt to heavy to work out. My adrenals crashed and my body ate through all my muscle. Isn't it a far stretch to say everyone can handle keto and should? Isn't every body different? And doesn't the science show how severe food restriction elevates cortisol levels and has other negative effects on the body? I also don't know how to afford to eat keto because you have to eat so much to get enough calories. I'm trying to feed 3 kiddos on one income. What if keto flu is your body's way of telling you it doesn't like this at all and for a good reason. There has to be a better way.

I just finished Day 4 - Omad - 600kcal. I feel very dozzy now. (I have to lose weight for a competition and I am in the final week of this challenge). I do feel sick now, tho I felt great today.

Everyone please like he said stay on your electrolytes and vitamins....please. went to the ER years ago and they said my magnesium sodium and potassium levels were crazy low. He sells an awesome electrolyte drink and it does the job I promise. Happy ketoing 😉

yeh I get nausea after dinner, even after 4 months on the diet. Because Im forcing myself to eat. I think I should make it smaller meals. Have two dinners a few hours apart .. or reduces the fats in the meal.

I just got off the hospital my wife was having a chain of reactions that we thought it was a heart attack and in the ER they said everything was related to low levels of potassium, magnesium... Couple of the doctors said to stay off keto diet 😬 Anyone else gone trough some like that? Thanks

Sounds like low blood sugar. Try chromium maybe? That helps me with blood sugar.

Day 8 and feeling so nauseous and keep burping and you don’t even want to know what’s happening in the toilet 🫠😬😬😭. A bit scared to eat today but I know now that I need to be more hydrated with salt and eat more veggies … wish me luck.

Constant nausea my sodium was low it caused constant vomiting ended up in hospital just for not having enough salt in my blood even tho I salt everything. They put me on fluid restrictions I was drinking 2 litres a day fluid and they said I was flushing out to much salt (I use pink salt) they put me on 800ml of fluid a day and gave me salt tablets and told me to salt all my food. Low sodium was a nightmare I was so sick like a stomach flu with dizzyness lightheadedness low blood pressure headache I was so weak I could barely walk. Don’t drink to much water it’s more dangerous than I realised my potassium was in normal range I’ve been living on fat green vegetables and meat 20gm carbs a day 2 litres of water and my vomiting didn’t start till my sodium got way to low so I wasn’t losing it through the vomiting also my potassium would have also been lower if it was related to that. They literally said it’s from frequent urination on keto diet and increased fluid intake flushing to much of my other electrolytes out. I didn’t realise salt was such an important one but I was eating extra salt not reducing it because I needed it on my meals to help me enjoy them without carbs in

@@MarquosXoloVanda i just salted all my meals with pink salt and meat and dairy I figured already have salt so I was just adding extra with the salt shaker thing but they still put heaps of salt through a drip at the hospital anyway

Man, I quit the Keto because I felt like throwing up for a week plus. I think I may be category number 1. I didn’t really up my fats much though, other than coffee creamer. I cut carbs and sugar to nothing. I don’t eat sugar anyways.

Most of the time your electrolytes are off. When eating keto you need to consume a lot more salt.

Next Friday the 23rd I will be doing keto for a month I just got the flu I feeellll horrible I don't feel like eating, I'm sooo nauseous, headaches, my body aches and I'm dry mouthed but I drink water. But I say I started @228lbs. Now I'm 210.4lbs due to a injury I can't do certain exercises, I'm doing a light workout just to be active as well. Thanks for all the info.

Hello Dr. Berg , I started a keto lifestyle and I'm 10 days into it.I love your channel and you have provided such useful information with so much simplicity that has reallyt helped me. My question is that I feel quite tired in the mornings ,but usually by later afternoon all the way to evening, I have lots of energy and can even exercise if I want to. Am I in ketosis?Please help!!!!
