This is the most accurate information I have seen on KZitem to date. Education is most important, especially for physicians that deny this disease and refuse to treat patients or even take them on as a patient if they have documented lyme labs.

My daughter, now age 23, came home one day at age 4 or 5 with a "black thing" on her chest. As I prepared for her nightly bath I saw it, not knowing I pulled tweezers & removed it. Never thinking bout it again. Well... as time passed, I started noticing "mental disorders" but she was always an outstanding student, the schools said I was "crazy"... the anxiety & panic attacks progressed uncontrollably only at home... school she was still excelling. She had a concussion at age 14, falling from a horse but STILL excelled in school. As a mother I saw signs that preoccupied me but No one seemed to care as she was "perfect" at all she did (dance, cheerleader, mun, asb, yearbook, journalism, honor classes etc. etc.). Then pregnant right after high school graduation (age 18) she was told she suffered from OCD & ACUTE PANIC DISORDER. She lives on her own, with her son ( watch him from 6am to 4pm everyday) she works full time. Now, she has been diagnosed with depression & they think she also has diabetes because she is overweight & her legs swell up, she has extreme sleep disorder, rituals, short term memory loss, mood swings & fears. Could this all be caused by that tick ? Thank you

I was told by an Oncologist that the herx can be worse than the actual disease itself. FYI I've had chills for over 20 years and that's even after treatment. I feel for you 🙏

This is excellent, but I think one statistic may be questionnable. I think saying only one in ten cases manifest a rash may be too low. The research shows that a bull-eye or another shaped rash appears in about 60-70 percent of Lyme cases. More importantly, as a result, many people who may or may not manifest this symptom are incorrectly diagnosed.

Studies completed at Thomas Jefferson University and Johns Hopkins University show that the “bulls-eye” rash is NOT the dominant morphological feature of early Lyme disease and in fact, the “classic EM” lesion is present in only a minority (9%) of cases. In a recent cross-sectional survey conducted locally, 50% of respondents with diagnosed Lyme disease did not recall a tick or tick bite, and only 33% reported seeing a “bulls-eye” rash. This was confirmed in a large national study and reported by the CDC in August of 2013. The following are references to published studies on this issue: Storehourse, A, Studdiford, J.S., Henry, C.A. (2010) An update on the diagnosis and treatment of early Lyme disease: “Focusing on the bulls-eye, you may miss the mark.” The Journal of Emergency Medicine, 39(5):e147-e151. Aucott, J., Morrison, C., Munoz, B., Rowe, P.C., Schwarzwalder, A., and West, S.K. (2009) Diagnostic challenges of early Lyme disease: Lessons from a community case series. BMC Infectious Diseases, 9:79. Ahern, H. (2013) Comparison of Lyme disease prevalence and disease reporting in an endemic area. Journal of Microbiology Research, 3(6): 261-265. Hook, S., Nelson, C.N., Mead, P. (2013) Self-reported Lyme disease diagnosis, treatment, and recovery: Results from 2009, 2011, and 2012 HealthStyles nationwide surveys. Poster presented at 13th International Conference on Lyme borreliosis and Other Tick-Borne Diseases, Boston, MA, August 18-21, 2013.

My LLMD told me the statistics were about 40% of cases get or see a bulls-eye, though that was several years ago. I'm guessing the numbers are more about who is doing the surveys and how they are being done, the area and demographic probably play a role too. If the numbers are skewed too far in either direction, true or not, it probably makes people question the credibility and puts the focus on the numbers rather than where it is most important. That is to get the point across that it's not uncommon to contract Lyme and never have (or see) a bulls-eye rash. That said if you do see one or even think you might, take a photo and get yourself to a doctor. It's an important sign/symptom but not a necessary one.

Gwse vt Research shows 9% of those who get a rash get the bull's eye. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11900494 No one really knows what percentage of people get a rash because they will only diagnose people with rashes. The reasoning is circular.

Mr. Nascondo... You should really stop trying to say they are quacks/quackery. I feel Doctor's like you are ignorant and it doesn't matter if you have a PHD. I live in the south and doctors deny that Lyme doesn't even exist down here. I was left to die by doctors who have sworn to help patients. I had to advocate for myself and this video is true. I took the Doxycline and I had No bullseye rash. Actually, the disease came back with a vengeance after the antibiotics. So, unless you have proof to back yourself up that Lyme doesn't exist, it's best you stay off of here. There are doctors that are actually trying to help...Dr. Burrascano, Dr. Horrowitz just to name a couple. They are the real doctors trying to help us with this horrible disease. You have no idea with what we are living with on a daily basis. So, what I am saying... Is do your part and contribute. Help us find a cure for this disease but I'm sure you will stay in your bubble and be of no use. Quit trying to force your beliefs on us when we are the ones with the disease.
