I've been asked by viewers to share some tips to improve Employee Orientation Process and share the Ideas for improvement in Employee Orientation.
I've tried to cover few basic tips to improve this process.
Orientation is a process to get a new joiner in your organization and aware him/her with the processes, culture, environment, norms, rules and regulations of the organization.
First of all an Orientation Checklist should be drafted and handed over to all new joiners to whom you are going to give orientation. Checklist will contain all those points that you are going to cover in orientation and at the end there should be a box where new hire can share his feedback about you and your style of orientation.
While having new employee on board, we need to start his orientation from main security gate, because he needs to interact with security staff on daily basis so HR Professional should introduce him with security staff first and then he comes to Reception area.
On Reception Area, mostly companies display their company logo. A picture of new hire should be taken with company logo at reception.
Every department should be visited, and prefer introduction of new hire with department heads and all department heads should be open to welcome all new hires.
There is a term "Department Buddy" in orientation process. You assign a department buddy to new hire from his own department with whom new employee can coordinate for his run time queries and concerns.
On Behalf of HR Department, Employee's picture with company logo taken on reception should be sent via email with a welcome note. It will boost up employee's motivation and loyalty with the employer. At the end, have a feedback about orientation process and file it.
