I'm a History Education student at a community college (after an extended break from school) and had an introductory Bioanthropology course reignite a passion for human origins and history. I'm currently planning to take on Anthropology as a second major and Paleoanth is probably the specialty that interests me the most. Just dipping my toes into the water on what the whole field has to offer and channels like this are a great resource. Thank you for providing it!

Hi. This is the first video of yours I have seen (but not the last), and I really enjoyed it. I too find paleoanthropology a very interesting subject. I did have one question, if I may. At a number of places in the video I got the impression you were suggesting that through paleoanthropology we can find the answers to our heart's deepest questions (as you put it, those that "pull at you in the middle of the night"). Questions such as: "Who are we?", "Why are we here?", and "What is our purpose?". I'm not sure I follow you. Perhaps science can give a scientific, physical partial-answer, but hardly a full one. In the beginning of your remarks you mentioned "spiritual" answers to questions, right? I get that. I agree with your last statement that "you are here for a reason", but do you know that is true -- and much less think we can find the ultimate answer-solution -- through paleoanthropology (or any branch of science)? I don't see that. Again, I think the subject of the fossil record and what we can learn from it is fascinating. I just think it has its limitations. Hope that makes sense. Cheers!

You can’t find the “ultimate answer” in any, singular thing. Wisemen know you need an open system to flourish.

You are very good at this! I like how you explain the stuff that tends to be assumed knowledge. Not me! I’m just a former counselor, home either all the time or MOST of the time since around 2015 due to a disability and I went from human behavior to monkeys lol. When I was done with monkeys and other non- human primates it led me to human evolution. WOW that was the best but here’s the problem: I’ve seen every video on KZitem worth watching, and every documentary on the the streaming services. Twice. Then, I ended up watching (listening & falling asleep after the first few watches) lectures by John Hawks and Svaante! Lee burger too. Now what! lol I love imagining the worlds our ancestors & cousins lived in. I want to know if anatomically modern human males had any interest in mating with Neanderthal females. I want to know if male Neanderthals took anatomically modern human women by force given the fewer choices they had for sexual partners as their “clans” were smaller & further dispersed across the landscape. AMH females were just more plentiful. I wonder if there were relationships across species. I wonder who nobody realizes it’s no big shitz that later Neanderthals created art or that Denisovan cave contained a bracelet. It’s clear to me, right or wrongly, that as Neanderthal & Denisovan people had anatomically modern human admixture they WOULD be thinking more abstractly. I don’t see this said anywhere! It’s so silly to see Neanderthal art in a Gibraltar cave which was the final stronghold of Neanderthals and think it was NEANDERTHAL ART. I believe we need to acknowledge the fact that it’s the RESULT of the evolution of the hybridized Neanderthal. I rest my case lol ! (Too much Amber heard & Johnny Depp trial watchin’!)

I have some from a few different places, but most I have are from one place, and the quality is definitely noticeably better than the others. I don’t know enough about 3D printing to say what the difference is, but I’d just assume a higher quality printer.
