I feel like you made this video because of me 😂. when I first started this project I knew absolutely nothing about Plumbing. I ended up using that black tubing, in my defense the product name was spa tubing. I got roasted on the Facebook page. My bath has been done for a while now but this video definitely would have been helpful early on! 👍👍

You're not the only one! I'm trying to circle back and make more fundamental content... being on this path so long I take some of the early discoveries for granted. Hoping to address more of it moving forward

Excellent videos. Glad I found your channel. Is there any reason I can’t use hard schedule 40 PVC pipe for my entire build? Instead of the flexible stuff.

You absolutely can! The flex just adds flexibility/the need to not be so precise with it all.

Can “heat tape” - electric heating element be used to wrap around the spa hose? Trying a bare bones cold plunge this winter with no insulation or framing and don’t want the hose to freeze.

Any input on using pex? I have a tone of pex and fittings but overall haven’t seen anyone use that for cold plunge.

I've always stuck to PVC (mainly emulating the big brands), I dont have experience with pex.

Would it be possible to use only pvc flexible hose without any of the stiff pvc pipe between fittings? Can't find the stiff pipe in town but I have about 10 ft of the flexible type.

That'd be totally fine 👍

Does the spa hose clamp onto an active aqua pretty good?

It'll depend on the fitting size for your chiller. It could, but they are traditionally just a touch smaller than 3/4"

what is a good chiller for a 150 Rubbermaid stock tank
@DIYColdPlunge

Depends on climate/ambient temp, insulation and if it will be in direct sunlight. Most in moderate climates can go with a 1/4HP. Hotter/more extreme should up the size.

A non-PVC option would have been nice to see here.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

@@DIYColdPlunge There are non-PVC plumbing options that may be better for connecting your chiller to your tub, or other various components in your system.

@@AnthonyTopper I disagree, these are standard in the pool, hot tub & now cold plunge industry for a reason.

@DIYColdPlunge Umm .. it's not about agreement. Some people prefer non-PVC. So I'm just saying might want to consider that in your videos.
