It's highly recommended that you not pitch up while recovering. The heat damage and risk of crashing is really not worth it. Holding the pitch level, at zero degrees on the attitude indicator and boosting while holding upwards thrust to climb is the best way to recover.

If you ever want to hit a certain target while speedbowling (as it is required for official events most of the time) you have to set your throttle to zero. Otherwise the thrusters will throw you off course. There are also indicators that lateral thrust is weaker if the throttle isn't zeroed.
@Exigeous

@alecturner07

Oh for sure! Next time you're approaching a mailslot and are drifting off course a bit try to correct the drift using lateral/vertical thrusters with your throttle wide open ... now try the same correction with the throttle way down towards zero. Huge difference! Basically your ship only has so much thrust (imagine a generator producing a fixed amount of high pressure air which then gets diverted through a bunch of different vents - close some of those vents and there's more available for the remaining vents - you can try it the next time you're in your car - turn the blower on and then close some of the vents and see how the air pressure coming out of the others goes up).

I have three questions about this if you, or anyone else, doesn't mind. First, where is the exit heat coming from? It can't be from atmospheric resistance or the heat would be a thing as you increased speed in the given atmosphere while falling through it. The engines themselves don't entirely make a lot of sense as you aren't putting any extra load on the engines as you otherwise would when at full power I presume. The only new force being introduced relative to open space is gravity but that would only slow your acceleration without adding any extra stress to the engine systems. Second, if it is from atmospheric heat, where is the atmospheric heat while you are entering the atmosphere doing the speed maneuver? Where are the awesome entry flames? Finally, if the heat is coming from atmospheric resistances, wouldn't the mirrored surface composite armor help in the dissipation of that heat thereby reducing the problem to some degree? This is making the assumption that this composite armor is a much more advanced version of armor that works in a manner similar to how the tiles worked on the space shuttle.

Hello CMDR Exigeous, a tutorial quicky suggestion. Leveling your NPC pilot (or your own combat rank) can be done super fast. EDDB, systems, outbreak (,anarchy) and head to the nearest checkpoint. There will be 1 Type 9, maybe a Viper but 90% of ships regular Eagles at the rank of Elite and none of them are engineered. Start killing them and over and over. Much faster, safer and easier than killing thargoid scouts. Pretty boring though, but I got my NPC Pilot from Harmless to Deadly in a few hours. Recommend a Corvette or Krait MK2 beam laser build.

Certainly not in supercruise, if anything gravity wells have the opposite effect. Try it the next time you're approaching a station. Come at the station from the far side of the planet that it's orbiting at an ETA of around 0:04. Cut close past the planet (being careful to avoid the exclusion zone) and notice how your SC speed get's dragged down by the planet at the last minute. This is called gravity braking and can be used to great effect in things like Buckyball Races to get to the station faster (coming in at speeds WAY higher than the safe "6 second rule" and then using the gravity to bring you to a safe drop speed at the last minute).
@TomaszDurlej
4 жыл бұрын
I know SC will get opposites effect to normal space. But I'm curious if gravity assist can boost ship to speed enough to make something like Mars-Earth race. Probably not. But maybe something on distances of Earth-Moon. I can't try it by myself, Real life make me to busy to play for some more time.

@@Exigeous So you should have said " 5 degree down" or similar. Using percent is a misnomer.

Yeah, I just realized what you mean as obviously I mispoke. Sorry about that, as I meant "5 degrees". My bad,

Amazing YET is not added as Gameplay for anything. That just pisses us off!

Uh, not sure what you mean about "not added as gameplay" as I had a great time playing the game doing this last night. Me thinks someone didn't watch the whole video to see the part near the end, crater skimming, which is some of the coolest stuff I've ever done in Elite. Not all gameplay results in credits, some results in smiles and going 2000 m/s 50 meters off the ground definitely put a HUGE smile on my face!

@@Exigeous. I hardly call anything without a challenge for a reward gameplay. You can just as well call seeing if you can make it across to another System without Supercruise Gameplay then LOL!. I of course mean that there is nothing added in the game to require this role e.g. a Smuggling Run over the Planet, nor even navigate at high speeds through a mine field. DON'T BE LIKE FD for fucks sake. It is simply NOT enough to add all content yet limit it entire to use your imagination without using any fucking Content. Don't Americans seriously tink like you? You actually stare at your cock just to see how long you can hold it up for without a fuck?

I had a 400cr fine cost me around 30 million credits today. I stripped all the modules off a ship I got a fine in then couldn't do shit with them until I cleaned them all or just never used them again. Military bulkheads engineered 6 million credits to clean over 400credit fine. Then I still don't know what the fuck lands you in prison for fines. Got thrown in jail in a fee de Lance without a fuel scoop that was fun. Think I'm done with this game for a while I'll see if any of this stupid shit is fixed next year.

Why wouldn't you just pay the fine?
@Exigeous

Uh, yeah as asked why wouldn't you just pay the 400CR fine? If you got it in another system you just need to head to an Interstellar Factor and you can pay it there too. While I agree that it's silly that we go to detention for fines I think it's equally pretty silly to stop playing a game because you didn't understand a single mechanic. But that's your call I suppose.

@@Exigeous idk I just swapped ships I didn't know all my modules would be held hostage once I removed them. It's not like that's made clear anywhere. I figured ya know just the ship I can pay later. I had to use the bathroom real bad and was getting impatient. Idk man it just rubbed me the wrong way.

@@Exigeous and sometimes I get sent to prison ship when I pay the fine and sometimes I don't get sent there when I pay the fine. I think that's what made me not want to pay it yet. I don't know why they send you to prison when you pay a fine. I know I pay my fines so they don't send me to jail irl so it working in the reverse is strange.

Well as I just replied to someone else as the entire channel and every single video is dedicated to the game Elite Dangerous I'd say it's Elite Dangerous.
