I'm considering a power wall system for my newly built home in MA. Whats the size of your home and how many people in your household? Have you been successful at eliminating or nearly eliminating your electric bill? We're a family of 4.. our home is around 2300sf with 4BR and 2.5 bath. Our entire home is on electric including our heating system and hot water (both heat pump systems), stove, w/d, etc.

Thanks for watching! The best measure for determining solar and powerwall sizing is current and future expected consumption. I have a similar sized home and family as you but stove and furnace is gas ( but wish I was on a heat pump and electric stove). Do you have solar already? You can't eliminate electric bill with only Powerwall. You will need a solar array that covers 100%+ of your families current consumption. I say future consumption too above because if you plan to add another electric appliance with a heavy load like a pool or electric vehicle charger you will want to estimate that as well into your yearly consumption. Tesla's website can give you an estimated system size and number of powerwalls just by entering your address and average electric usage from your bill on their website. Use this link and if you do order and install, you get a $300 award back from Tesla after your system is activated. www.tesla.com/referral/shawn68886 also I have a ton of great info that I have shared on my solar and powerwall playlist that would be helpful for you kzitem.info/door/PLftZM83MNEFnCg9HIHkTeLR7_uj8OJ9UM During my first year of ownership, my Tesla Solar panels covered 110% of my usage for a year. In summer, I over produce, generating credits, and in winter, I under produce (lower sun angle) and use credits. Net metering and Powerwall are great!

@@TeslaFamilyChannel Thx for that info. I'd be looking into getting solar panels AND the power wall from Tesla. Our home is newly constructed, we built a log home (see videos on my channel if you wanna check it out). We only moved into the home in September, so I don't have an accurate estimate of our energy consumption yet. I was thinking I might have to wait till we're here a year to average it out over 12 months. Our reasons for putting the entire home on electric was that we were thinking ahead to solar and eliminating or nearly eliminating our total monthly expenses by going solar. Also, our new home is not yet available for Tesla to see via online satellite images yet. If I enter my address, satellite images still show the old house that we demo'd. But our roof gets very good sunlight.. so I'm pretty certain that our house is positioned quite well for optimum solar production. I played around on the Tesla site last night. Looks like the 9kwh solar system and 1 powerwall is the recommended option. But I scheduled a virtual consultation via the chat option. Anyway.. thx for the reply.

@@randomstuffwithjoe So nice to hear you planned solar into your new home! More/all new homes should do this. Good luck with your future solar/Powerwall journey! Once installed and powered on, you'll be very happy. Just make sure to have Tesla get an array that covers more than your current consumption otherwise you'll still have a bill, although smaller than now, from your power company.

How much are you producing daily ? With this current weather when we don’t have a storm ?
@TeslaFamilyChannel
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! December and January are the lowest months in the year for solar production in the northern hemisphere due to the low sun angle. Here in Maryland, my best days are producing around 20 kWh per day with full sun in December and January. Looking forward to Spring and Summer where I can produce 40+ kWh with my 7.56 kW system.

20 south facing and 4 west facing. Hours of sun depends on time of year. Check out my winter solstice video for shortest kzitem.info/news/bejne/kW1sqGSboJhhjIo and summer solstice video for longest. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2JV_z2ydqZxklpw

MA requires bollards in garage or fire proof room in basement for PW2+ INSIDE installs. Looking for anyone in NE USA who has done OUTSIDE install and their winter/summer experience. Batteries rated for Indoor/Outdoor. Will operate between -4°F to 122°F, but the recommended range is 32°F to 86°F.

@@TeslaFamilyChannelFoot note on PW2+ spec sheet also states performance less efficient below 50°F or greater than 109°F. I’ve decided to install INSIDE my basement and pay extra $1,500-$4,000 for fire-proof “room” since my primary purpose in doing this is to keep my gas furnace going during winter power outage.

@@gilbrook Yes, at temps outside those thresholds, PW's internal thermal management kicks in to bring the battery temp back into desired temp range. That uses some of the stored energy thereby reducing the PW usable power to your home.
