Trusting the car to stop automatically is a hard one to experience for the first (or the second, or third, or fourth etc.) time. In 2015, one tip we received when buying our first EyeSight enabled Subaru was to use a large cardboard box as our crash-test dummy. We made a wall of empty boxes for our first go, then, drove the Forester towards the “wall” at 20 MPH. EyeSight worked as designed, stopping the car short of contact, however, during this test, our mind was much more at ease knowing the wall would give way before our brand new bumper experienced impact with an immovable object. I stumbled upon your video clinic while researching our new 2024 Outback Wilderness. Great work explaining the various functions of our new car, very clear and concise. The ONE THING which compelled me to subscribe to your channel was your honesty with things Subaru could do better… I.e. “Don’t buy the wireless charger”. Seeing a dealer calling out their manufacturer on thing they got “wrong” is very refreshing.

I bought a '24 Forester Limited about 1000 miles ago. Now that I have found your videos, I keep running outside to start my car to look for things I had not noticed (the RAB and sound indicators) in the short time I have had the car. I traded in a vehicle that didn't even sync to my phone so I've been working to learn all of this new-to-me technology. Thanks for making it a little easier. Also thanks for the info on the use of button on the lower right of the steering wheel. I had no idea what they did. My salesman showed me everything but I hit information overload pretty quick. I have been going in to ask follow up questions but you are saving the poor guy lots of headaches from dealing with me.

THANK YOU for this video and ALL of your other videos. I just purchased a new Outback Limited and I could not get out of the garage! The RAB system was triggered and I had no idea what was wrong or what to do. I texted my husband and he sent me helpful info. I also downloaded the My Subaru app and I was learning the functions but I unknowingly started the car through the remote system. Today I have been reading the manuals and watching your videos so I don’t make any further mistakes. 🤞🏻

Hi ya Alex - thank you for all of these videos. I currently own a 2023 Legacy (the 9th since 1990) and have a BRZ (the 10th) on order. At 77 yo, I have been leery of using the infotainment system for fear of doing something wrong. Your videos have taken that fear away - lol. Incredibly informative - thank you very much. I will probably be ridiculed for this post, but so be it.

I have a driveway that’s not particularly steep, and my 2023 Outback auto brakes about one out of every fifth time I pull out of my driveway. This, of course, is very annoying, but I don’t want to default it to disabled. I hope Subaru makes it less sensitive in a firmware update.

Hi. I love your videos. Ok I just got ascent 2024. When my climate is off I feel cool air coming through the front vents but only when I drive. Every time I'm stopped at red light the air flow stops. What is up with that? When I change it to different mode lets say windshield air vent and feet. Then turn it off it has no air coming but it fogs up inside

Try turning off the "auto" climate and just use the manual up an down selection. Auto is only good for longer trips when it has time to adust. With the fan (icon) power switch off, there should be zero air flow coming in.

Alex, do you think this is something a software update could override and solve in the Forester if Subaru chose to program it? I wonder. Put in a good word if you ever have their ear. I imagine you might. This is a great channel providing great user information for Subaru owners and prospective buyers. Subaru should be paying you as their spokesperson. 😜

I have a 2018 Subaru Outback Limited, hardly drive it at all, so far I only have 9000+ miles on it. My question is, the other day when I backed up my car towards a tall tree, it starts to beep, however I didn't brake and kept backing, I guess the RAB activated and it seems that I heard some kind of grinding noise, is this because of the automatic braking system? Thanks.

Alex, will a full sized spare fit in the spare tire well of my 2022 forester premium if i buy a wilderness foam insert and full sized spare?
@jasonm7121
5 ай бұрын
Yes, to answer your question. You will need though to go to your dealership and order the insert for your new full size wheel and tire. The insert that you have in your Forester is designed for the space-saver tire. New wheel and tire will require you to get a new insert that you would get if you bought the wilderness trim. I would know. Ordered my ‘24 Forester back in August 31st and took delivery on November 16th of ‘23. And 1 of the 1st things I did with mine (besides ordering WeatherTech floor liners front and rear) was order a brand new factory wheel and I put a Yokohama Geolander tire on the wheel (the tires you get from the factory when you get the Wilderness package). Service dept. told me, that if I was gonna go the route of ordering a new factory full size wheel to replace my space saver, is that I would need to order the new insert. Hope that helps

Another great video Alex. I am going to buy a new 2024 Forester Limited with a few months. Is it possible to order from the factory, or am I stuck with local dealer inventory? I could not find an option to order direct from the factory. The only option available is to click the build and price tab, and submit this configuration to my dealer. Thank you.

You should be able to order a brand new ‘24 Forester in whatever trim you desire until the beginning of August of this year (2024). I think the order banks close for the Subaru Forester at the end of July or after the 1st week in August. That’s what I was told from my sales agent. The ‘24’s and ‘25’s will be built in tandem until the order banks close for the ‘24’s. Orders for the ‘25’s, again I was told will will open sometime in May. But… Once the orders open up for the ‘25’s, orders and production for the ‘24’s will eventually slow down until they cease production either at the end of July or 1st week in August. Hope this helps you out in your decision process. Also.. Prices are gonna go up for the ‘25’s by $2,000 each model. So a ‘24 base model that you can get at the dealership lot or order, the price without options, is $29,000. If you order a ‘25 base model, the price jump without options, I was told is now $31,000. So if you are looking for a sub $30k Forester, your better bet is to order or take delivery from your dealership a ‘24. Good luck.👍🏼

Click and build is from the factory not the dealership. Sometimes the dealership will do the same thing or they have what's called "port installed" or dealer add ons, where the options are added final destination. It's an old term still used for USA manufactured autos as well as Japanese.
