The idea for this video came from a conversation with one of the white belts at the gym. His question was about where to start or what to focus on from various positions.
When I started training over 10 years ago, instructional videos were very limited and the youtube library of techniques was not at all what it is today.
My go-to way for studying was books because that was the way I was used to learning. Reading, highlighting, underlining, and taking notes...so thats why I was drawn to books.
The one book that I recommend for all beginners is "Jiu-Jitsu University" by BJJ black belt and multiple time world champion Saulo Ribeiro.
This book was a vital resource for me starting out and has details from many positions including proper positions/posture, sweeps, submissions, and a bunch more.
If you're a beginner, I recommend picking up the book.
