Great video Chris! Honestly I had never thought that you were using macro lens for this but now that I listened to what you said, it makes sense. I love the compression that those lenses create, but I agree that the depth of field would be a bit of a learning curve if you had never used one before. Having said that, beautiful images throughout this one! Hope all is going well in the restaurant industry for you. Staffing madness down here from what I'm hearing! Take care and stay safe!

Thanks Paul! As long as I've been using macro lenses you think I would have figured out by now that I needed to stop down sometimes, I just love bokeh, which is the polar opposite for the most part of landscape photography. I've heard staffing is harder east than it is out west, I have definitely seen it loosening up out here, it has been a struggle. Hope your well!

I use 55mm f/3.5 macro and 105mm f/2.8 macro lenses for food photography with small format cameras. When I need front and rear movement for perspective control and/or depth-of-field control, I use a 4x5 inch large format monorail view camera with 90mm wide-angle lens and 135mm normal lens.

You're set up is definitely more specialized, good on you. I went through your channel trying to find some examples of what you mentioned in the comments but didn't find anything so maybe you'll have some examples soon! Cheers.

I love the 105mm, I am getting much better at my food shots with it.

Thanks for watching Joe! I switched camera systems a couple years ago and had been waiting for the new Nikon 105mm to come out. It It has not disappointed! I'd love to see some of what you've shot with your 105, let me know where to find it!
