I used the 3/4" WHIZZ version of that polyamide roller on my popcorn ceilings (they had already been painted) and it performed great. It didn't leave any fibers behind and washed out way easier than a microfiber. I haven't used a polyamide roller on my walls though. I'll have to give that a try in the 1/2" version. Thanks for the video!

The Sherwin Williams four-inch microfiber that you showed is absolutely fantastic four doors and trim. A sales rep thought I sprayed the doors but I told him I use that for years and he was absolutely stunned. The colossus is the best roller with lack of effort

I've tried 3 different rollers when trying to finish my cabinets(with black semi gloss Advanced) I actually like the texture of the purple(shed proof?) home depot professional grade , but it shed too much . Foam rollers were smooth but very streaky , not good. Mohair was nice and smooth but left behind just as much lint or more than the home depot pro grade. I'm so frustrated with this project and it's costing me so much more money on paint and rollers than I ever expected. I'm giving one more go with another can of paint and I'm going to treat the mohair rollers this time . I'm not ok with having a sub par finish after all the strenuous prep work and money spent.

In general for cabinets we recommend spraying. If you cant spray use mohair. To reduce the lint wrap tape around the roller and then pull it off to remove the loose lint before using the roller.

Foam rollers r really good for blending touch up because they don’t leave a texture.

These guys should take their giddy, tickle banter to the hotel room. I could easily be laughing with them under the sheets. IMO, choosing the correct paint roller cover is important, costly business, if you care about the quality of your paint project. Many of us are searching KZitem for the technical details, and here, we get tickled-toe bro-chat. Many high-quality rollers come in 3-4 packs these days, including the Purdy Colossus 3-pack. So just because there is "pack," does not mean you need to shop without a brain and throw good many away. There are many generous paint professionals on the internet these days, willing to share their favorite products, and detailed explanations for why they are faves. Here we get some helpful information, but much of it is misguided, goofy, and impatient. (Edit) The Purdy Colossus is designed for "semi-rough to rough" surfaces. It holds and releases more paint, which is not good if you desire smooth or ultra-smooth results. The devil with painting is always in the details. I would re-do this video and offer viewers a product with more substance.

The Colossus sheds like crazy for me, even with a pre-soak. Every couple of lines, boom, shed. Wipe, re-roll. Annoying af. It always seems to be the blue thread also! I have to dip more often but have always been able to make magic happen with a white dove over any colossus, particularly if the goal is smoother finish.

Poly rollers are crap, probably just there because homeowners are dumb enough to buy them. They spit, spatter, give you horrible lap lines, and it takes like 2 hours for one coat to dry? Who has that kind of time? Not to mention they don’t even leave orange peel on the walls, they leave alligator skin on the walls. Have I said enough? Lol, probably. Purdy UltraFinish and Wooster MicroPlush for the win… I will say regarding the Colossus, they DO hold a lot of paint… with an 18” Colossus you can roll out half a pretty decently sized wall with one dip. My problem is every time I use them, I have to backroll like 3-5 times before I get the smooth finish I get with 1-2 passes of a microfiber roller. Just my experience with them, and since I work alone the extra backrolling really slows me down.

Colossus does well with textured walls like in Texas but not as well on smooth walls in commercial or other states where homes have smooth walls.
