My grandfather has Azheimer's and I've been his sole caretaker for 6 years. The normal days are easy, relaxed, uneventful and even boring. The delirium days, though quite rare, are like hell on Earth. Usually these are the days I need to call someone to come over and give me some help. It is absolutely impossible to take care of someone in delirium by yourself. The mental toll one single day of delirium takes on the caregiver is truly terrifying and heartbreaking. Thank god those days are rare, and they don't usually last any longer than 2 days. Lots of love and strength to those going through this and their caretakers. Never forget to also take good care of yourself!

Yes! That's why I visited. A patient of mine has a delirium while also having dementia. His delirium comes from an infection (I believe a uti). It was hard to catch because the symptoms of dementia and delirium look a like and it looks like the person regresses but in this case it was a delirium. Once he gets antibiotics he will also get cured from his delirium.
