This is a video for all the CC newbies out there who are getting started with the transfer process. IGETC stands for Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum, and is equivalent to the first 2 years of study at a 4 year university. These classes are required for everybody. Completing IGETC is a seamless pathway to transfer to a UC school for most majors. Some exceptions include STEM and Arts majors. Pre-major coursework/major prerequisites are the classes directly related to your major. Theses courses are specialized and NOT required for everybody. They are meant to prepare you for the specific major you have chosen and must be taken in order to advance within the major (i.e. enroll in upper division courses).
