I'm saddened that I missed today's Q & A, tbh it completely slipped my mind. A year ago today my dad lost his dog. He lives alone but besides that I know most pet owners consider they're dog as a child of theirs. I was on the phone comforting my dad during the Q and A. There's always next week and the following weeks. I absolutely love this Q and A and David Guzik is one of the best pastors out there!! I won't be missing it again. Happy 4th of July everyone 🎆!! I hope everyone is having fun and staying safe. Happy 4th of July David Guzik!! Thank you for always being there for us and our questions!!!

As you talk about Christianity in other parts of the world I think about a couple of mass choirs in India. Choirs of 150-250 voices with extremely talented organists and piano players. They sing beautiful hymns with such a great feelings that put choirs I've heard in churches I've attended in the USA. I pictured churches in India in squalid villages with poorly dressed people. This was so different. But the songs and singing were so beautiful. I'll email a few of these songs one of these days. I listen to all eight hymns almost every day especially at night before bed. They are so spiritual. Many thanks.

If a Church teaches that their WORKS, as well as GRACE (through FAITH) are essential for salvation, are they saved?!

They can be saved, but lack understanding. Only God can judge the heart. That being said; it's easy to get this confused. It may sound like a church is saying Jesus PLUS my works when in fact that's not what they are saying. Get clarification. There's a complicated scripture in the Book of James that confuses folks. "Works" are a sign of salvation. A sign of real saving faith. Works are EVIDENCE of that faith. You don't work in order to be saved...but rather that a saved person will have works. "Works" can be the fruit of Christ: increasing love, patience, less prone to get angry, a new desire not to sin. Works can be a desire to be involved in ministry...IF that flows out of and is the result of someone becoming a new creation in Christ. It's natural for them to want to serve in the church. It's the motivation of the heart. Joy not fear. Some people have a wrong motivation. They serve in order to be seen as "pious" or to be well liked and well thought of (reputation). They serve in order to move into higher positions of power in a church (pretense). They are trying to 'look the part' of a Christian. Still others serve out of fear. They lack understanding and their works stem from guilt, or shame thinking "I better DO something" or God won't bless me, or that I might lose my salvation. So they serve thinking something bad might happen if they do not. They misunderstand what James is saying...but that doesn't mean that they are not saved. It's a good conversation to have with someone!

@@kristenspencer9751 That was very helpful! I have loved ones in a Church of Christ denomination who believe this. They also believe that they are the only Church that is saved! Thank you and God bless!

Yes, God is at work globally and there are those who hunger for the truth and righteousness. I need to highlight that we are also warned about an apostasy where there will be a falling away from the truth. Jesus warned us 4 times in Matthew 24 not to be deceived or led astray. We must be alert and be good Bereans. Ciao !

Thank you for addressing the Christian nationalist question. I am in agreement with your position. I understand the desire for government n the church to work in tandem for a more Christian society but as you rightly stated history has shown that it doesn’t work. Safe travels and thanks for the great work you do for the kingdom! Blessings!

The Lord has a *plan A* Everything depends on how much we _understand and learn_ that way. We need faith _"comes from hearing the Word"_ - says Paul. And _hearing_ in the original context means: understanding + practicing the level of proficiency. This demands character with merit & this consumes time and energy. The _plan A_ is not a "cup of solution to go"

There has been an organized effort for at least a century to separate Americans from God. There are writings from the 1920’s and 30’s whose goals are what we see today.

I'm not an "American"unlike you. you probably mean : white /north /us... so here's the 1st problem - The second thought : You have a good chance to understand the more organic & love filled church when you visit communities all over the world... to learn from them active charis according to Hos 6:6 and James , aka. "The knowledge of Gd" not to share your things. I have a couple of usa friend who changed his/her mind, facing the agile love around the "other" church cultures. 😉

I am smiling at the thought of apostle. Not that I have knowledge of how an apostle differs from other believers, but it seems that the Apostles had a common purse. I doubt there is a group like that...or like the inner circle of those who saw applicants drop dead for being dishonest about holding back some assets.

Thank you! Interesting topic and opening. I also thought about the Church in the US today when I heard from another beloved Pastor in GB only 10% in GB consider themselves Christian. This gave me shivers of sadness, could this happen here?

It may well indeed - perhaps not to such an extent, but the decline of Christianity (all denominations) over the last 100 years is undeniable. Thankfully the growth of Evangelical churches has gained a significant foothold among Americans (and worldwide) over the decades, but some perceive that that growth has begun to slow or plateau in the United States, based on attendance and other factors. Again, we should pray for revival, or prepare for division! God bless.
