Recorded live on Kasama Radio (87.7FM) on Sunday 22 May 2022. The video is in IciBemba language of Bemba people of Zambia.
The name "Ng'wena" means 'crocodile'. For this reason, some people wrongly translate "Ukusefya pa Ng'wena" as 'festivities on a crocodile' 🐊. The correct translation is: festivities at the the site of the old Ng'wena Village. Ng'wena Village is the first place AbaBemba settled at in UluBemba. The ceremony brings Bemba people back to their founding niche to celebrate history and culture.
This year's ceremony will take place on 12 and 13 August at Ng'wena Arena in Mungwi District of Northern Province, Zambia.
Further information about the ceremony can be obtained from the organising committee: ulubemba@gmail.com
