Came across this randomly but found it really thoughtful and interesting.

I am a Nigerian and soon to start my ASYE. I can relate with every word you said. I remember in my last placement when I was in service users' homes. There were a lot going through my head each time, aside the work I came to do. Mostly, it was about what they thought about me due to the colour of my skin. Thank you for this video.

Wow, this is deep! Speaking as a black African social worker from a southern African country, I think there is a massive difference in the way that we are willing to challenge and confront racism. My Caribbean colleagues are comfortable to tackle the bull by the horns most of the time. I wonder if this comes from having been in countries where we have celebrated white privilege so much that we have developed such a thick skin and we tolerate it almost too much??? Thank you for sharing this!

Fancy an evening shift with a sleep over til 2pm tomorrow because guess what? Person called in sick again. Not late for her visa though, funny that isn'tbit? So before complaining about racism my African friend look at the bigger picture
