To me this is the greatest sports car ever made. Like a Cayman (The actual, best sports car ever made) but at a price where most people can afford it, that is what dreams are made of. The affordable sports car is such a spectacular thing, whether you like them small and delicate like the GR 86, MX-5 or big and powerful like a Mustang GT, to have something that delivers so much joy AND THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET TO OWN IT is so beautiful, this represents breaking free of the emptiness machine (i.e. having to buy 172748 cars to get a GT3 RS allocation or not being able to buy a new Ferrari despite having the money, you know, doing things you don't want just for the idea of owning something that is just a car at the end of the day, an awesome car, but just a car.) Long live cars like the GR 86 and thanks Miles I waited months for this one and it is as spectacular as I thought :')

Nice review. I think the lower trim offers a lot of fun for the $$$. Not so appealing above $35K. I'm only annoyed by the aggressive gearing leading to poor fuel economy for a 2.4 liter 4cyl. Miata puts up comparable performance numbers w/ much better fuel economy if not too cramped for some.

These cars are absolutely awesome. Waiting for a Hakone allocation but I may end up going with the normal car with a Performance Package. I'm not sure what that green is going to end up looking like, I'll have to see it in person. One problem with a special edition is that it doesn't make sense to mod it and I think I'd like to put some lighter weight components on the car to lose 80-100lbs. If you've never driven one of these or BRZ try to find one a take a spin. Probably the best driving car until around 100k.

Have a GR86, and I don't ever use it for long trips. The road noise is terrible and sadly the stock sound sound system is utterly terrible too and can't overcome the road noise. A bit of sound proofing in the door and new front speakers are a big improvement for just a few hundred bucks, but it should be better still honestly. Great fun otherwise, but fuel economy is also terrible due to such short gearing, 6th gear should be tuned more for economy. If you're not a die hard for a manual, a 2.0 supra is much better option honestly.

If i can get a 718 cayman or BMW 240i, or i can save more money and confesses myself with GR86 but it looked cheap and dont know if it can be delivered or note as a sport fun coupe . I'll judge after watching this video , but you can help me and decide which sport fun coupe i could buy by wasting for 718 or save some cash and get a GR86 . Any people here who test the three cars i mentioned.
@GSTRification
6 күн бұрын
240i is auto only with luxury before performance. 718 price even base is like 1.5-2x the price of gr86 if you’re looking for low mileage with a manual. I have gr86 and if you’re looking for a luxury and fast GT car 240i is probably way to go. Gr86 is bare bones but dedicated sport car than anything 2 series. Manual with lightweight driving sensation is much better driver’s car than the bmw. Current 718 definitely lost its driving pleasure of previous 987 with downgraded turbo 4 cylinder eps steering feedback. 718 should be a 6 cylinder and only way to get it cheapest is gts. Having said that if your budget allows 718 even base form is probably better than the gr86. But is it almost 2x the price good? Answer is no
@GhostSlayer81
6 күн бұрын
@GSTRification Yeah, that is what I am viewing that the M240i may be the car I am picking up over cayman and a barebone Gr86. Don't get me wrong the GR86 look great outside but inside toyota did a great job with the interior but at the end is daily japanese car and big different between a luxury bmw and a Toyota so all in all it's all great cars but the end is a personal choice for anyone preference.
