Can someone please point out exactly what conflicts of interest occurred on the supreme court such that we even need to discuss such a major rewrite of the constitution? So far I have yet to see one conflict of interest actually documented. Its mostly been 'we hate Thomas, he is a bad guy cause he has a rich friend'. But a rich friend giving you things isn't a conflict of interest until that friend is a plaintiff or at least somehow connected to a plaintiff. This seems like nothing more than a manufacture a campaign against Thomas who they dont like for his decisions.

Reminder that RGB's husband literally what's a consultant for people who had active pending cases before The Supreme Court. So the Democrats are lying when they claim going against Thomas is about ethics. We also have to remember that the Democrats were making up bullshit lies about Thomas in the 90s. At best the Democrats are just mad that they don't get to be dictators at worst the Democrats are just mad because they are racist.

Hey would love to encourage you to read more about Austrian or at least Chicago economic understandings of the free market and consequences of government intervention. In a truly free market consumers and producers alike benefit from efficient function of so called monopolies, which naturally can never dominate a market for long without a competitor rising that does it better or forces them to do it better. Government intervention stifles economic growth and makes the entire economy less efficient

The discussion on Vance was minutes on how he’s a cringe fake man baby or how will enact some extreme fascistic nightmare. Y’all said Kamala was ill prepared and that the coverage of her was cringe. Her resume as a prosecutor shows that she’s an evil person who is willing to use state violence to actually hurt people for political wins. As a politician she has zero clout or redeeming qualities but instead y’all focus ur guns on how cringe and authoritarian the right is. I think you lose credibility with conservative libertarians and kill any chance with y’all have with liberty minded repubs when u repeatedly miss the mark with disingenuous criticism. There's nothing I want more than to see the first woman president but Kamala Harris is not that woman. I was afraid, initially, that she might end up being president by default. Politicians need to think before shooting their mouth off. Vance couldn't have made a worse impression when introducing himself. Everything out of his mouth was damaging to the Republican's mounting, but precarious rebranding as the "party of diverse appeal". If the Republican party wants to remain the "party of old white men" Vance is the guy to remind everyone. He didn't entertain for even a second that the people he insulted include his own supporters. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong in the future.
@Anderson33333

Ignoring the fact that Kamala is trying to hold every position. I completely disagree with the idea that the Jeffersonian and Jacksonian vision of America that Vance was suggesting was wrong. The executive branch having the power to decide what it does and most importantly does NOT do it's fundamental to having an elected executive branch. Congress has the right NOT to fund these positions or give them the legal authority to do anything. Just as the court has the right to NOT convict anyone the executive arrest under the laws of Congress. (Remember Mayberry never got his writ in 1803) No branch or combination of 2 branches in a Constitutional system can have the right to demand the anther DO anything they do not agree is constitutional. This is how I constitution is enforced by consensus not edict. It's also why communist states don't have constitutions that mean anything. There is no real division of power among parties that can dispute constitutionality. I know people attached to the idea of a permanent welfare state guaranteeing you services and its various politician's pet projects forever are terrified of this idea. It is precisely because our federal government was designed to protect liberty not services that it was designed with these checks and balances to enforce the same minimalist constitution. I don't know how you can pretend to be a libertarian and be scared of this Knowing the resulting outcome would be a far more limited government. This isn't a radical, This is just telling the court to be a court and decide innocence or guilt not dictate policy.

The reason these people are smug is because the USA government, and the problems they face could have easily been solved decades ago if we had a functioning government. Before you vote libertarian, one of the things you need to realize is that the Democrats raise money from large corporations who want low cost labor for lots of immigrants, and the Republicans raise money from voters who see what a shttshow the border is. They are both abusing americans for money. They will never fix the border. Voting Republican or Democrat is voting for which party you want to abuse you for 4 years. a real S&M deal is the american democracy

I agree about a moveable feast..there was something a little weird about that book that stuck with me in a good way….I wouldn’t have been able to articulate this at the time but thinking about it now I believe it was the fact that I was very much into Hemingway and F Scott Fitzgerald and I probably had a bit of a romanticized idea of the hard drinking artist who understood humanity so well he was destined to forever be alone…and when I read the part of the book with the two of them I had this realization that they were both just annoying dicks. Fitzgerald was a dick because hemmingway wrote him that way and hemmingway was a dick for writing him that way. It was wonderful, a little piece of my youth was lost forever and I moved onto my mid twenties and Cormac McCarthy In all seriousness though they are both beautiful writers, for whom the bell tolls is also my favorite. I’m also a history nerd and in Tender is the Night Fitzgerald writes one of his characters describing WW1 and In like 2 paragraphs he explains it better than most 800pg books by historians

A good review, interesting comments overall. I found myself agreeing a lot with Nick which is not normal. On the book front, the parting shot that there are no new Hemingways and the reason why. I think that shows you may be stuck in the past. There have been many great novelist since Hemingway. Many great writers. Maybe they aren't a force of personality like before, and I think that's more of an era and a function of our times with more stars & etc, but there are many great writers and novels out. It just keeps growing. There is so much you can hardly keep up to sample them all and find your new Hemingway. I'll give a big plug to Brandon Sanderson for writing books that teens and adults can read and enjoy.
