I don't know why people are saying this is inaccurate and/or offensive. I have lived in Utah my entire life, literally born and raised, and I think it was not only hilarious, but also very true. People need to stop taking everything they view on KZitem so seriously and realize a lot of the content is solely for entertainment. I suppose it was educational as well because I had no idea that calling a movie a show was out of the ordinary. I do that all the time!

Remember that group of like 5 kids in middle school who didn't swear, drink, smoke, have sex, or anything like that at all and then made a huge deal of how they are living their lives so much better? Imagine those kids grew up, didn't change, and settled a state. That's what Utah is.

So accurate!! I'm glad you did this video. It's a little strange to be an atheist in a place so heavily dominated by one religion. It was almost a culture shock for me when I got here. Within a year of getting here, my grandmother yelled at me (on my thirteenth birthday) for saying "Oh God". I've been rejected by most of my classmates who know I'm not religious (which is very few). Yes, there are churches on every block. There are literally so many Mormons that even non-Mormons will assume that you're Mormon.

Spot on with every point. I wasn't born there, but grew up in Utah. Mormons are like some mystical animal outside of Utah it seems, much like unicorns. I'm always asked if I am a Mormon, and those asking seem disappointed when I tell them I'm not. Then they ask if I've ever seen a Mormon, which, if you've ever been to my beloved state, is worthy of a good laugh. It takes getting used to, but I love Utah and can't wait to get back.

I live in SLC (around East Millcreek) and I am the only non-mormon/religious person in my neighborhood. I pass several Mormon wards on my way to school. They're very kind people, but very awkward.

When I first moved to Utah from the Jersey Shore, my very first night here we stopped into a 7-11. The guy asked me "Do you want a sac for that?"Me: "A what?"Clerk: "A sac."Me: "A what???"Clerk: "A SAC?"Me: --- blank stare --- my Utah native husband leans over to me, "A BAG"Me: OOOOH, a BAG. Yes, please :). And don't forget, the Mormons here drink CAFFEINE FREE diet coke lol. My first 10 years here I hated Utah with the bloody passion! But once I became a mom...I decided to embrace the corny-ness of it! Now, Utah is fun to me. Sort of like my own private gag reel. Kind of 'campy'...I get a kick out of it, I really do. I now say "Oh My Heck!" Because I think it's a riot! I traded in my SUV for a minivan on purpose...again, just for the sheer laugh of it. It's almost like I'm in some crazy alternate reality. And since you can't beat em' living here, I just play along and laugh at myself! If I'm at a PTA function or some sort of get together in which I'm significantly out numbered...I just slip away to a bathroom, take a big swig from my flask...paste the smile on my face, sidle up to the other ultra- Utah moms and 'Shut The Front Door' myself with rest of them ;).

To be fair, Mountain Dew tastes like someone poured 5 cups of sugar in a 20 oz bottle of syrup and no one thought to mix it. So that first sip will put you in a coma.

I think it’s weirder when you’ve lived in Utah all your life and you grow up and realize that Mormon churches aren’t in other states like blocks apart.

we do drink MTN dew and soda and caffeine and the reason we fix our roads so much is because we are the fastest growing state which means we have to fix it a lot to adjust to the population change

Kenneth Tupea actually it's because there are a lot of horrible drivers. I lived in three States and it's not normal to walk down a street and see an accident or a lady clipping a mirror on a transportation bus with her car LOL

I used to live in West Jordan and it was great. I don't really have a religion anymore, but I used to be Mormon so I fit in and it was fine. Honestly, I miss Utah. The snow, the mountains, my old friends... All gone. Now I live in Arizona and its always 100+ degrees and all of my old friends.. I'll never see them again HECK my FLIPPING life

I used to drink once in a while and a Mormon girl wouldn't date me because I didn't "set good standards", it was actually pretty shitty because she was so cute and flirty and we got along great. But honestly I respect other people's feelings on that and they are absolutely entitled to their opinions. The Mormon friends I had were actually pretty hardcore, they would get high and go to church, some were in gangs, like the Tongan crips. Thankfully there is a lot of diversity in belief in Salt Lake City, I haven't run onto a Mormon in months actually, not that I dislike them, I think Mormons in general are very nice. Unfortunately there is a bit of a problem with depression and suicide, but if you look at the data on it you will find Utah lies in what is called the suicide belt - Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Utah is bad with it, but not the worst for many of those things. I could see how someone would feel a bit of a culture shock moving to Orem or Logan possibly, but I also think some people are so concerned with people judging but they don't realize they are doing more judging and condescension themselves. If people are concerned to come here because of stereotypes they will miss so much outdoor recreation and a beautiful city. Just my 2 cents about this state.
