I think he loved the work behind a band, rehearsing and the gigging, he was really good at knowing when it was good and was always building songs - he was both the backbone and soul of the music bloody love that

I remember being a little boy staying at my aunt’s house, and she lived all alone in a holler and would babysit me. She’d make me a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk when I got to her house, and then she’d let me play with matches after I ate. She’d play all kinds of music for me. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rod Stewart, Prince, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac. She loved it all. She had the Unplugged CD by Nirvana, and it still makes me feel the way I felt when I was a little boy when I hear it. It makes the hairs on my arms stand up, it makes me feel rebellious but never want to hurt anyone. It makes me feel like all the good feelings and bad feelings I’ve ever felt, he felt them too. I can intellectualize what makes it good. The control Kurt Cobain had of his voice and naturally great timbre. His unique lyrics and wonderful pop melodies. His ear for harmony and color to really establish an atmosphere to his songs. He was a true blue musical genius, and a very special, sensitive, genuine young man.

His insecurities. He was very driven to be the "best band". He was also good at capitalising on his musical strengths. I didn't like how he would put down other bands like pearl jam though. I think Kurt had a lot of jealousy in him.
