I love just about all of them but their most epic song/riff to me still remains "Ritual". Simply love everything about this song: The lo-fi guitar sound, the eerie intro with the spooky Dsus2 chords on top, the thick rhythm riff and drum groove at the verses and Papa's Gregorian chants on top (love the grunty P-bass sound below it!), the way it opens up melodically at the chorus with the hamonizing angelic vocals and the eerie organ makes this song sound really huge and catchy (kinda like a theme from some really spooky television show), the evil slide bridge part with the dim5's at the end accompanied by the demonic voice and the staccato snare (stakatakata!) and the epic, simple yet very emotional melodic solo with the octaves at the end. Simple brilliance all around! Amazingly balanced. Elizabeth and Infestissumam/Per Aspera ad Inferi are my second favourites (the sheer energy of these songs is beyond this world!).

Excellent breakdowns, uncle Ben! Really love how Ghost combines different genres of music and keeps a very clean, yet eerie and evil sound. Ingeniously engineered music. Ghost prooves one does not have to grunt to sound ominous. I absolutely adore their subtle and dynamic sound. A lot of "new" metal lacks this: to me it's all out all the time, lacking any dynamics. The bass and rhythm parts of Per Aspera are played a little differently (les picking in between) but you did one hell of a job of breaking down what makes this band tick! Keep up the good work my man!

Ghost has brought me back to listening to metal again. No dis to bands like Bullet for my Valentine, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, Korn, Slipknot,Disturbed, SOD, Deftones, Mudvayne ect. I still love those bands, but Ghost has a distinct feel about them that metal in general has lacked since the glory days when MetallicA,Anthrax, Slayer, MegadetH, and Pantera had metal at the top of the music world. And all of this is just opinion, but I think alot of people would agree, and mabe not 🤷♂️.
@MetallicAAlabamA

@M Via I do listen to alot of the newer stuff like Gojira, All that remains, ect. I'm not a huge listener of Opeth, they are ok, but the death metal/doom metal dosent hit the funny bone like the speed of thrash, or the heavy grooves of like Gojira. Give me a few new bands to check out. I like Trivium, Ten Years,Five Finger DP, bands like that. I dont hate the pop stuff, but I dont like how its took over since around the beginning of the millennium.
@MetallicAAlabamA
5 жыл бұрын
@M Via Well here is what I think with the upmost honestly. I think Mac Jones is going to start, LSU will have to change their whole defensive scheme if they prepared for Tua instead of Jones. But if they prepared for Mac Jones then you can surley bet that Tua comes in and wins the game. Either way LSU almost has to be prepared for both, and that's hard for a defensive coordinator, and a head coach. And with this game being at Bryant-Denny Stadium , Bama likley being ranked 2nd or 3rd behind LSU and mabe Ohio St in the initial Playoff rankings would give Coach Saban all the motivation he needs, cause he is going to drill it into their heads that the voters think that they are not good enough to be #1, and if they were to lose a game that they may not let em at the 4th spot. I think Bama wins the game,and they win by 10 (38-28) I think the Ov/Un is 85 or 90 total points, but I think Alabama's defense is starting to become one of the nation's best. I still think LSU's defense isnt as deep or talented as Bama's. So there is my thoughts, and I appreciate always discussing football with a fellow Bama fan. Can't wait till Nov 2, 2019 ,I think this one is probably going to be another great one. Rooooooooooooooooooooollllllll TIDE ROLL!

I remember reading about the first Ghost riff, and how although he wasn't particularly a heavy metal-type person, Tobias felt he'd stumbled upon the most "evil" sounding riff ever written and they just *had* to record it. Then an entire theatrical act grew almost immediately from that, so they could "look" the part to match what they wrote. Kinda blew my mind because I always assumed it was the other way around. That someone had developed the idea for a potentially marketable anti-Catholic church aesthetic, and the music followed, to suit it.

Hi Ben! Thanks for DEMONstrating there is no actual evil in music itself... only cool mathematics! I've always said it's the "lyrics" in a song that determine whether the song is dark or light, vulgar or clean, sad or happy, etc..., and not what the instruments themselves are doing. Of course the instruments can certainly set a nice backdrop for support, but it's ultimately the lyrics that 'tell the story'.
