10 years is what makes you think you're a new Yorker, being here 15 makes you realize you were full of it, and being over 50 and realizing you can't afford to escape to the suburbs and don't feel bad about it makes you a New Yorker

As a person born and raised in NYC, it makes me proud that people want to come here and be a New Yorker. We get a lot of hate from folks but we have no shortage of those who love it.

Also new york city sucks too much ass to truly explain. But that's where it gets its odd beauty from. The giant beautiful buildings with trash piled as tall as people

This is one example but I have been taking my grandpa to this bar In St. Paul MN for Burgers, fries and a beer every couple of months or so for almost a decade now and even if I moved to New York tomorrow I dont think I could build up enough experiences to make calling myself a "New Yorker" very meaningful compared to what i have here even after 20 or more years of living in New York would be missing that foundation of memories that instills a sense of belonging.

Freaking love this channel and the content. Please keep it going! Editing Side note - The ending transition could be better here. Calls to action, with links to your other videos or a subscribe button would be excellent.

tbh we used to do that but it brings the watch time of the videos down an that causes the video to do worse in the algorithm...

@@publicopinionnyc those damn algorithms! Hopefully the content continues driving subscribes without the linking. Long form topics like your last few videos should do that.

How do you have so many subs, despite this being your most popular video (1/6 your number of subs)? Also, why does it say that you have 187 videos (most must be unlisted/private)? Just wondering (your content deserves more subs than you have rn)

The moment I became a new yorker was when I started not minding my own business when something crazy is going on, I saw a man got stabbed once and it wasn't that brutal he just walked if off limping a little bit and me and my friends were like oh this is just another Friday... night

I grew up in chicago, does that mean im a new yorker too? 😂😂😂 Ill watch a man get stabbed on the train and step over him to not be late for work. But if its anything like chicago, honestly its more than 10 years. At least 15 closer to 20 to be like a native of a big city and develop that “i gotta guy” social circle.
