+David K Ink used in tattooing is relatively safe. The only problem that arises is if someone is severely allergic to ingredients in the ink, which is why people should test to see if there is anything they might be sensitive to. If there are toxins in the ink, it would be because of an unprofessional or irresponsible tattooist.

People seem to be very concerned about getting a tattoo due to its permanence. I have a full-leg sleeve that I am working on and have plans to get more. I have no concern that I will be displeased with my tattoo as I age. The current tattoo that I am working on represents me and where I am in my life. As I age, it will always represent that, whether or not my values are changed or are altered in some way. If you get a tattoo that means something to you, there will be no regret. Tattoos are beautiful ornaments to one's skin, in my opinion. I know others will disagree, but I hold firm that I have none, and will have no regrets as I age, in regards to my tattoo.

Maybe it's because of some deep-ingrained fear of commitment, but I'll never understand why anyone gets a tattoo unless they're actually planning on removing it. I mean, you're altering your body, in a highly subjective and decorative way, permanently. You're making a judgement that in 20 years who'll still appreciate whatever design you get done. How does one do that? The me from 20 years in the future will be a stranger, and I'd never give a stranger a tattoo. I understand a bit better for particularly meaningful tattoos, but even then it seems risky.
@kaganakbas7166
10 жыл бұрын
People who think that way and are considerate of future consequences and their changing perception of the world, aren't usually the types that get tattoos after all.
@merrymachiavelli2041
10 жыл бұрын
***** I agree, I just mean that, with a meaningful tattoo, I can at least understand being driven into getting one by emotion. Let's say someone goes through a string of cheating boyfriends/girlfriends and decides to swear off love. I can see why they'd be distraught enough to be a bit crazy and get 'Love Sucks' across their chest in capital letters. By contrast, getting a random pattern or chinese symbol for whatever as a tattoo is likely to be done with a cool head...which makes it odder to me.
@strungoutboy21
10 жыл бұрын
How do you know the you in 20 years will be a stranger? I'm 34 and I like some of the same music I listened to when I was in my teens. I also like some of the same movies. I also have the same Super Nintendo I had when I was 12 and still enjoy playing some of the same games I use to play. My point is that when you grow up you mature, but you don't drastically change as a person.
@merrymachiavelli2041
10 жыл бұрын
strungoutboy21 I disagree, at least partially. While some people might not change much, I believe many people do, especially from their late teens/early twenties (when you're most likely get a tattoo). People's political views, for example, tend to change massively in their lifetime. As for other things, I suppose that depends, I reflect on my 'goth/teen angst' phase when I was in my mid-teens with horror. I used to be fundamentally nihilistic, I shudder to think what kind of tattoo I would have gotten. My problem is that you can't possibly know what you'll like in 20 years and what you won't. You might get mauled by a dog and decide they're evil, you might become famous and have the world oogle at your skin, you might have a religious conversion and become a devout Hindu. Who knows?
@merrymachiavelli2041
10 жыл бұрын
***** You're not only making a judgement that you'll like red roses when your 50, but that you'll want to have a tattoo, any tattoo, etched into your skin. Having said that, I do agree with you that meaningful tattoos maybe have a shorter 'life span' than plain pretty ones (although not all meaningless tattoos are attractive). All I meant was that, from the perspective that all tattoos are madness, I have more understanding of madness borne of emotion than whimsy. Of course, I'm not critiquing you personally, you can do whatever you want with your skin. I just *really* don't like tattooing as a concept and couldn't stop myself from ranting about it.

Correction: Researchers confirmed that, currently, the oldest known tattoos on record were found on Ötzi, who has been carbon-dated to have died around 3250 B.C. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352409X15301772

@@GustavoGomes-nn5np The age of a video is pretty much irrelevant as long as it's still posted and regularly accessed by people seeking information. Might as well try to help each other learn what is accurate when there's as much b/s flying around the world as we have these days. So...you're welcome.

Ötzi, also called the Iceman, is the well-preserved natural mummy of a man who lived between 3400 and 3100 BCE near Similaun mountain and Hauslabjoch on the border between Austria and Italy. They found over 61 tattoos on his body. The tattos were thought to be for medicinal purposes

Temporary tatts are the best. You get the look of a regular tattoo but they're: painless/easy to apply, cost next to nothing, and remove themselves before you're bored with them!

When you can bust a myth but not a nut Diseases are only spread through the act of getting tattoos if you don't do your homework and go to someone who is certified. If you go to a certified shop they always use new needles every time thus making the chance of contracting an infection almost impossible. However if you go to someone who isn't certified they may reuse dirty needles and if the person who was tattooed before you had some sort of STD or whatever, you could get it too. So essentially you'll only get an infection if you're an idiot who doesn't go to a professional

@iLOVEpicklesBRO28

White ink is permanent, that's a myth that it isn't. It's just that the people saying that are so pale it just looks like scars... Look at white in any tattoo- it's white, not scars. Scars would leave a raised appearance. Plus, then how would black people have white tattoos if they were just scars?

Omg. Now I don't want to get a tattoo even more. Piercing the dermis with a needle 3,000 per minute?! How does this not leave you scarred and disfigured? The scientific reality behind everything always makes it scarier.

@colelantz1743

+Evan Heath Technically there can be. There is no exact law on tattoo inks. Many tattoo parlors even mix their own inks, making them like a fingerprint for that tattoo parlor. Since there is no law, there is a chance that whoever decides to mix the ink, becomes negligent and adds toxic dyes to the ink. Another thing to think about when getting a tattoo would be to choose your parlor carefully.

+AppeasingPoet having had a tatoo myself, I'd say that it's not dangerous but it's a commitment to have. First of all, because you just don't get a tatoo, you have to take care of a tatoo. The after care can decide whether or not the tatoo can stay forever on your skin. Secondly, because it's permanent, you have to think thoroughly before deciding to have something engraved to your body, it'd better be something that sticks with you for the rest of your life

Still amazing that something stays in your body even though the cells keep being replaced every day for the rest of your life and that it’s rarely risky
@setcheck67
2 жыл бұрын
Rarely risky... now. Back in the day tattoo parlors were one of the leading transmission sites for hepatitis, syphillis, and HIV as they were too cheap to purchase new needles for each customer and didn't sterilize to the level needles handling blood would require(that's why donating blood when you just got a tattoo is generally not allowed). It's believed some tattoo shops are still too cheap as not every state/country actually has required sterilization regulations. I also don't like how there is a lot of non-scientific websites saying the risk of infection is negligible and yet government websites from most countries as well as research papers disagree. That's usually a bad sign that someone is making a profit off of ignorance.

It's weird, I think sleeve tattoos look really good, or a big dense pattern somewhere on the body...I think that looks cool. But IMO the odd butterfly or pixie or fairy or heart or your kid's name looks really trailer trashy. If you're gonna do it go the whole hog. You don't see butterflies going around with fat women tattooed on their arms, so don't tattoo a butterfly on you.

Super Hans To the judgement comment, yes everyone judges. Everyone has their own opinions. But there's a line you cross when you start telling people they're not good enough because YOU don't like what they do or how they look. So do us all a favor and keep your negative thoughts in your journal were they belong. Were no insecure person will take them personally and have to rethink their life choices because of what one little itty bitty bratty bitch had to vomit out to make herself feel better.

Well i never wanted a tatto, and i still don´t want it. art is in the walls, in a piece of paper. you can see good tatto´s there, but i don´t want to become a piece of paper . I always say : You cant see a sticker into a ferrari, because it´s already perfect. and that´s me, the ferrari .

And that's great that you love your body just as it is, but some people find that tattoos make them more beautiful. And are a great way to put a mark on a big part of who they are or what they've been through. Or as a way of turning something ugly into something beautiful. A friend of mine had a really rough go at life, and dealt with a lot of depression, and ended up with some self harm scars. When she recovered and was better mentally, she hated seeing them because they were a permanent reminder of a bad time her life. So she covered them with tattoos, so instead of something ugly on her arms, she has something beautiful. Or like me, I've gone through some shit, and I found getting a tattoo when I managed to overcome it therapeutic. A permanent reminder that I was strong enough to endure and succeed when other overwhelming problems came my way. Plus I really, really like the way they make me look :) No two people are the same, and those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music :) (Nietzsche)

Kate Speaks well, you have your reasons, i got mines, my word is not a law. it is an opinion, i respect yours, your respect mine, and we all do what we want, and say what we think. that´s freedom. If you feel good with your tattos it´s ok for me, I m not going to freak out for see somebody with that.you can see good tatto´s there, I have scars too, but i don´t care .that are battle reminders. and need to be reminded because dont want to repeat it. if your friend is ok covering that, it is ok for me. if he is happy now. I m happy too. XD

It's cool, your body responds a little badly to it. But just as much as when eat only fast food for a month, a whole cake by yourself or if you flip your sleep schedule. But to be honest, I think it's a great thing. It's art, your own art piece you get to have with you forever. If you wanna take care of your body and still get a tattoo; The more you spend the better the piece, tattoos are pricey and its better to have a fantastic tattoo then to pain you and your body with a bad one. Sorry for the rant. Good Luck!
