I fell in love with vinland saga after waking up in hospital from being ran over by a 5 ton trailer (I'm 19 btw) I got 16 broken bones my liver was ripped in half I was so lucky to be able to walk still but anyway the reason I love vinland is because once I heard you have no enemies I was hooked because all I had was enemies I thought, my mother's boyfriend who was awful to all of us would drink day in day out or how I thought for a long time my friends all hated me but after I saw Askeladd die it clicked nothing matters all the dead thorfinn did (all of the mistakes I did in the past) and after reading some manga of it I came to the conclusion that I should always forgive I don't need to fight anyone.

In vagabond, the main character is a wild raging guy who's body is strong and quite the fighter, he is arrogant as he thinks he can defeat anyone and does not fear death, but after fighting multiple powerful geniuses, he became less wild and more kind, he was no longer arrogant that he can beat everyone but rather confident he is skilled, and death became more terrifying for him, but was willing to embrace it if the time comes.

I’m not exactly young, but I can honestly say that reading Vinland Saga and Planetes helped me find myself. Then I read Vagabond and Berserk, and while I immediately understood the central theme of those stories long before the characters or the story got there, there’s something beautiful about watching Musashi arrive at the same conclusion as Thorfinn - that real strength lies in kindness - or watching Guts eventually realize that forgiving yourself and protecting those who you love is better than living in anger and chasing vengeance, a conclusion Thorfinn also reaches. All three, and Planetes, are beautiful and very human stories, and the main characters - Thorfinn, Guts, Musashi, Hachirota - all eventually find peace in connection and selflessness.

Honestly I feel like from the POV of the artists, it wasn’t as glorified as like and arrogant warrior, or chasing bloody revenge. I feel like sort of how the One piece is a symbol for the “perfect manga”, I thinks the artsisrs were just struggling with the competition they were facing as most creators do, and the stress of the time crunch and high demand was just overexaggerated for the sake of the plot. A writing tactic Irespect

The thing I like about all 3 is how they are all deeper then just telling a story. They all present certain philosophies and beliefs of their authors. Often time I probably disagree with these philosophies, for example I strongly disagree with Thorfinn’s pacifism, but I love these series because they present these beliefs in a compelling way. So for instance even if I disagree with Thorfinn’s (and as a result with the Author’s) beliefs I can still enjoy it because they are presented in a very interesting manner.

I'm 14 and i was incredibly brainwashed by social media; all this talking about having revenge, and having a "Villain Arc" was consuming me, i was always violent and rude to people, always fighting, but i was a bit sad too sometimes when i was alone (you know at this age we get into puberty so all things like the first loves and other "problems" that we create for ourselves). But a few months ago, in a period where i was really sad for loosing a friend and a girl that i liked, i started trying to have that "Villain Arc" thing, but then, i started reading Vinland Saga. It all got better, i've seen Thorfinn in myself, and i thinked that:If Thorfinn healed and overcomed all the hatred he beared, i can too. So i started being kind and positive, smiling more, and having more hopes for the future, Vinland Saga really changed my perspective of life, and maked me a better person, and i'm grateful that i started reading Vinland Saga because i think that reading it at this age (14) will help me do better choices in the future and will help me become a better and kindhearted man when i will grow. Thank you Vinland.

I really got sucked into vagabond because I started reading it about a year after I decided to become a pro fighter. Throughout the story, musashi gets stronger and stronger, thinking he's found the way only to realize there's still something he's missing. He beats opponent after opponent thinking the next will reveal some kind of truth, ultimately being let down and while his strength increases, spiritually he's still at ground zero. It's only when he takes time to reflect and give his time to others that he sees the path of life. As a man who's crafted his body for war while trying to understand God, it just makes sense

Berserk got me though my mothers struggle with cancer and her death. Taught me to keep moving forward and keep getting stronger to face whatever demon or hardship that life throws your way. I saw a guy who moved and lived in a way I wanted to be. Of course it’s just a book, but as a child I saw a figure to look up to. Now people look up to me, they call me a stepping stone, salt of the earth, one guy thinks I’m a murderer for some reason by how I walk and stay silent, though I’m just serious when I am focused. That guy is weird. Another guy thinks I’m an alien because how I don’t get tired at work running around all day. But how I operate and how I keep pushing, how I don’t let the heat or the cold, the people around me, the constant dumb conversations I hear on the daily affect me, stems from a younger me seeing examples of being a man in a book. As long as I have breath in these strong lungs of mine, and the strength in this blood and in my mind nothing will stop me from anything.

I really do appreciate the work these artists have put into their creations and I deeply respect how invested they are into developing these stories I’m not trying to say they aren’t doing a good job, because they’re doing sn AMAZING job. But just as a single human being, I cannot personally relate to these characters, and coming back to my original point, I think it’s just because I did not EVER experience psychological trauma up to this point (I’m in high school btw)

For me, I love these manga because it made me reaffirm my beliefs This makes me sound like a silly boomer or some kid trying to be different but im fucking exhausted from seeing sigma male grindset shit of a bunch of awful men, or young men making fun of young girls and calling it “sigma male” It’s disheartening, I was raised by the belief that kindness is strength. That its easy to be loud, to be negative, and to push those pessimistic values onto others, but unwavering kindness was what was hard. To be good only for the sake of being good, to be kind to all. To forgive people. To love them. Honestly before I had Vinland i had Superman and Trigun growing up. I doubted my beliefs for a while and it caused a lot of negative thinking for me. However I think im just going to continue to try to be kind to everyone, Even to those who want to hurt me or my beliefs. “I have no enemies.” Is a message i hope everyone can learn from

Ok so not talking about the quality of the series. But I do think the majority of young fans teens-young adults of these series while they do enjoy the series the reason they hype it up is because a lot of the older fans are elitist that make the newer fans feel like if they hype it up as one of their absolute favorites people will look at them positively. So while these series truly are very great. I do think the majority of the fans aren’t fans. Yeah I’m gate keeping. So what. It doesn’t matter anyways, years from now most of the fake fans will forget about it. The dopamine they get from the occasional compliment they get on their taste from other fake fans, won’t be enough. We already see it happening.
