I have a pair of Nicks side zips station boots, I think they look great but I also had them in 8” not 6” which I think makes them look less “walmartish” like some zips do Edit : in context of this video though HELL NO for any sort of dress boot or business casual. Strictly work or function.

Great video, Teik, as always. To me personally the Edward boot from Grant Stone is a little more formal than the Diesel - mostly due to smaller hardware and less spacing between eyelets and speed hooks. Parkhurst's Niagara in shiny burgundy is an unconventional, but dressy choice. And finally, like you, I also recommend Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill, when they go on sale, of course.

I would say the grant stone edward boots are dressier as a style but (as I think you said in a previous video) the leather choices are more limited and tend towards the less dressy. I have a pair of their cap toe boots in tan calf leather and absolutely love them. I consider them pretty dressy, although I agree they would be dressier in a darker color. As a side note, I'd love to hear your review at some point of the grant stone chelsea boots; I have a pair in CF stead's roughout and I like them, but don't think of them as particularly special or eye catching.

I have the same reaction to side-zip boots, especially when they are lace-up in addition to side zip. Another timely video. I'm trying to decide which of my boots to wear to a family dinner tomorrow and I realize I don't really have a pair yet that is "dressy". My Diesels are in jungle kangaroo which might be a bit too rugged. Nothing in Chromexcel so far and my Parkhurst Delawares in Natural Double Shot are on the lighter side of brown. I was thinking along the same lines as you though. The Grant Stone Edward in Walnut Chromexcel or their cap-toe boot in Crimson Chromexcel are on my radar for a future dressy boot.

If you're okay with a higher price point, oak steeet just dropped their new limited run shrunken vachetta leather field boot. It's quite beautiful but my reaction on seeing it was "wow I don't think I have an outfit to match this" given my wardrobe of chinos and jeans. And then less than 12 hours later someone bought up my size so I managed to beat the temptation devil on this one. The leather legit looks so good you wouldn't want to beat it up. It does have an isthide commando sole though, which deducts dressy points but in my opinion isthide's commando sole is most dressy lug type sole out there

Big fan, love this channel but need to respectfully disagree, it’s the overall boot that determines if it’s dressy enough, for example I have the very same 1K mile boot but have only once wore it business/casual whereas I have worn my Grant Stone Kudu and RoughOut several times on their dressy Captoe and Edward lasts.

I'm the opposite regarding Chelsea boots. I ONLY think Chelsea boots are dressy and think of them as the sort of thing the Beatles and other 60s pop people used to wear with suits. Carmina sell what I think as the definitive Chelsea boots. I agree with your definition of dressy boots with one exception. The overly wide welt on the Diesel boots rules them out as dressy footwear in my opinion. This type of welt seems to appear more on American heritage boots. Most European boots (excluding Trickers ) seem to use narrower welts, especially if they have leather or Dainite style soles.

Another great video! I have both the 1ks and the Meermin Wholecut Chelseas. Both are good boots and I do wear my 1ks to the office, but the Meermins are higher quality and look much dressier with a mirror shine. Keep up the good work, Teik!

Patagonia voting shares are owned by a trust set up by Yvon Chouinard, the founder. The remainder and majority of the stock is owned by a non-profit organisation specially set up for the purpose. I'm not sure of the full details of the complicated arrangement but the Wolverine parent company don't own them. Speculating, it might manufacture the Patagonia range of footwear though?

You left Chelsea boots out of this video, and you are right to do so. Not because Chelsea's can't be found in that price range, but because good one's can't do so. And, Chelsea boots (real Chelsea boots) have a much broader range than just "dressy." I wrote about Chelsea boots in your video on that style, but to recap her for your audience, I'll say this: The word Chelsea boot to describe any elastic paneled boot is misguided or misleading. True Chelsea boots are sleek dress boots, with a narrow, pointed, or chiseled toe; rather than a rounded and chunky toe. They always have a low profile sole, such as leather or v-tread, and never have a lug or other bulky sole. The don't have brogue or zippers, or other features. Chelsea boots are plain toe, and solid color. And they are always made of premium leather. These other boots, like Blundstones, RM Williams, and other such things are misnamed when called Chelsea boots. Chelsea boots are not work boots. They are dress boots which can be successfully dressed down in a way few others can. Look to the 1960s British TV Show, The Avengers. A star of that series, Patrick Macnee, in his role as John Steed, was an exquisite dresser, always in a suit, often with a bowler - even in matching color, and virtually always in Chelsea boots. He would wear them with a tuxedo, if they were black in a high shine. He also had suede versions for light colored suits. The fashionable sets of Britain were adept at matching these boots with very casual outfits, and they can be worn even with blue jeans. This is very unusual for a boot which, provided it is in high polished black, can be worn in formal wear. So, the boot properly belongs in your next video of the series, which I presume will cover more formal boots. Or rather dress boots, vs dressy boots. But, they can still be worn with dressy wear, or even dressy casual. Again, few, if any boots have that sort of range. But it is important when saying this to distinguish this formal chelsea boot from extremely casual and work boots which have wrongly been given the appellation "Chelsea Boot." It would be best to just call those other "elastic boots," or paddock boots. This last was the name often used in the horse barn work environment where the rugged versions of this type of boot was used prior to the dress version being named for the district in London. Paddock boots were preferred for cleaning up after horses because the absence of laces made clean up from the obvious mess they'd be exposed to easier. But that wasn't the same thing as Chelsea boots, any more than a steel-toed work boot is the same as an lace up leather dress boot. They both function the same way, but they bear no relation. We don't call every boot with laces an oxford, so it is equally wrong to call every boot with elastic panels a Chelsea. Thanks for reading, and I apologize for the length of the comment. It was necessary.

Love the series you are doing - I have a pair of Meerman boots I consider to be dress boots: a service boot of shell cordovan. How you dress has a dramatic effect on how you are treated. I don’t think that is a bad thing. Dressing well shows respect for others as well as oneself, and respect goes a long way, professionally, personally, and romantically. I don’t see that “cosmic reward” as a bad thing, it is another example of the universe being a mirror. Cheers and thanks for another solid video!
