My biggest worry is that what if my employer asked me to do something that I have zero knowledge of? As a business student who does not know how to code, what if my employer asked me to make a website or something like that? Should I just be honest or spend an entire night learning from zero and do a crappy job?

No chance to learn if they have no clue what to do with interns in the first place though. If I have to do everything on my own somehow then what is the point of an internship in the first place when I only learned myself but not really knowing if I did anything right either 🤷🏽♂️

Point #3: What if most of the employees aren't really competent/ don't really know their stuff?? Like they teach you this today and a month later, they find out it's wrong amd they first try to deflect the blame to you???

My point is simply go in with an open mind, and not with an attitude of you think you know everything already. No matter how much you know, that kind of attitude won't get you far. It's OK to speak up and question things if what they are teaching seems off/doesn't make sense to you. I recommend taking notes on what you are taught. That way you can always circle back if things wind up different in the end.

@@TheInternHustle Thanks for your response, however I don't think you understood what I said. My question is: You're new and you're being taught on how to approach a project. Then three months later, they come back and say you didn't do it correctly. When in fact you directly followed what they intially taught you. And this is a repititive cycle (not a one-time occurence). Also can you elaborate on what attitude has to do with this kind of recurring scenarios? Also, if me as a new intern knows anything, why would I be asking frequent questions? Looking forward to your feedback.

@@lamzy3773 If you have a recurring issue with how things are being handled at your internship then you have an option to talk to a manager or HR (and notes/documentation helps). I am not in a position to counsel you on your internship. Point #3 in my video was strictly about not going into an internship acting like you know it all, asking thoughtful questions to enhance your learning/understanding and being a good listener. That's the last I'll be commenting on this.

This is such a bug mentality, like actual insectoid human stuff. I have fucking NOTHING to do here. I have a booklet that I am already finished on, I have no assignments given to me NOTHING. Can someone just validate me that I can't do anything? I ask for work, but no one tells me I have anything to do. There is no point in stressing out about this stuff and there is no point in overextending when it is these peoples jobs to make me productive. I complete every single project I am given outside of the booklet in an hour and then I have nothing to do. This shit is just torture.

@@itsjustyana6323 Honestly, who cares if you have work or not though? Why does it matter? A lot of employees just go under the radar and have nothing to do, I am one of these cases atm. I'm sure you will be given work though, but working 8 hours straight is semi-slavery, so you should strive to minimize it honestly.

If I am an intern, and I am not paid. I will not be staying late. Sorry, not sorry.
