This is a really important topic to share, I couldn't believe how far apart their joints are the first time I saw X-rays, heavy or constant impacts can be detrimental to their joints, thanks for sharing 🐾🐕

Yeah it’s crazy how easy it is for things to go south with their joints! But when you think of how fast they grow it makes sense there is likely no other option!!!

My Cane Is Very Jumpy! Not fearful jumpy if startled. How do I fix this?
@canecorsochronicles510
3 жыл бұрын
I would work with a trainer as only they have the experience to understand the root cause of the behavior. I personally ignore my dogs if they jump at me or I give them a soft knee or turn around. It helps but it takes some time to completely stop all jumping if you are working without a trainer.

Hey! I'm getting my corso puppy in about 3 weeks,but I wanted to ask you a question. How many times a day should I feed my puppy (3?),when? And how many lbs,ozs or grams of food should I feed him (consider his parents are 100lbs) and if he's already had his meals can I give him treats for training,or should I just do the training with his meals? Great content by the way!
@canecorsochronicles510

There are so many opinions on this one!!! So first do whatever works for you. You can feed as many times a day as you want but I would recommend at least twice for a puppy. I personally free feed and my dogs are never overweight. I would use hotdogs or any treats you can that are protein based like hotdogs or liver (avoiding cookies or processed treats) Many people will only hand feed in the beginning too if you have the time that is the best option if you plan on doing lots of training. Only works if you feed kibble vs raw though. Look at your pups parents and talk to the breeder to see what they do as well. We free feed but our line is pretty muscular and lean but some corsos can get pretty chunky. I will also fast mine sometimes once a week to give their system a break and before a day where I do training so they are motivated. Only rule is get a good quality food with the right portion of fat, protein and has taurine and no more than 1.3 of calcium!

I find it such a paradox that the time when your puppy/young dog is in their most hyper wanna move jump and run around time of his life is also the time when you are not aloud to let them do that too much and limit the amount of exercise. By the time they old enough to do sports some of them get calmer and even lazy. Also how do you burn pups energy? They have so much of it. In order to be able to train your dog and not let him develop destructive and other bad behaviors, keep him calm and happy you need to drain his energy. How to do this without too much of exercise? Mental stimulation does not replace it.
@canecorsochronicles510

The easiest is if you have two dogs with supervised play. Which in itself is really hard and I know so many dogs with injuries like Chevy and a friend’s dog they realized a year later actually had a bad rib from rough play. There is also doggy daycare but it has to be a good one. Walks in my opinion don’t tire them out but it does help. I think taking them to new environments and having them learn to be in one place is my favorite. Super valuable long term. It still exhausts my dogs and they feel they have to observe everything!!! There are lots of other you can do like rally or obedience at a training club that I found also exhausts my dogs. High quality bones in a crate is another good one. Does that help? But absolutely not an easy time and most people never end up following the advice, including myself with stairs and hardwood floors.

I have honestly never tried!!! I don’t like being in crowds with owners that don’t control their dogs and I have only ever seen it offered at PetSmart around here. If I had help I would definitely go but I don’t trust myself with the crowds and three Corsos. I have seen only one corso take Santa pictures and I have heard many breeds are not a fan! That could make for a funny video if I was to try with even one though!!!!

What do you do about DIARRHEA in a corso
@canecorsochronicles510
3 жыл бұрын
Same as any breed. The corso does seem susceptible to it though. Feeding boiled chicken with pumpkin can stop it. We had to try numerous kibble brands before we found one that didn’t cause it. If it keeps happening it’s likely the food. If it’s random it could be an illness or even a result of medication.

I can't go jogging with my dog until he's 2 right or before? And another question,can I go on long walks taking breaks now and then,and if not when can I start going on long walks?
@canecorsochronicles510

I would recommend waiting until he is two before jogging. Walking is fine! It’s just anything with hard impacts on their joints like jogging. Hopefully that helps!

Hello, I have a question, my puppy is 6 months old, I took him to the doctor's office, they did X-rays and they tell me that he has hip dysplasia but he is only 6 months old, but he is still growing, he is a Cane Corso. The breeder He tells me that it is up to 2 years that hyp dysplasia can be diagnosed because he will continue to grow that he is still too early to diagnose hyp dysplasia. I am worried
@canecorsochronicles510
3 жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry to hear that, you can diagnose it early and yes there is a small chance thinks could change has he grows i would not bet on it. Usually a dog with okay x days before two gets worse and not better so some of the preliminary testing can be inaccurate and show better results than he would later. I would go to Facebook and post in a group with a lot of breeders for more feedback to see if anyone with more experience can share any cases where a dog was diagnosed by X-ray but got better? Either way I would start on supplements to help his quality of life.
