Friends who come to visit Italy, you have to enjoy my country, therefore, take the cappuccino when you prefer ^^, at most the waiter will widen his eyes a little, but the important thing is that you relax. What the video suggests about overpriced restaurants is true, so it is better to look in secondary streets and choose those frequented by Italian workers; during car trips, a good sign is a restaurant with a parking lot full of trucks ^^ truck drivers love to eat well and a good quality - price ratio; you are welcome and have fun in Italy .

My partner and I went to Italy in 2012. We went for 3 weeks, and rented an apartment in Lucca. We felt it was the best way to experience life in Italy. Unfortunately I didn’t learn Italian, I used notes to ask questions, but then had no hope of understanding the reply 😂. I found that it was the women who mostly spoke English. We enjoyed the Italian breakfast experience of coffee, a danish, and panini. We did travel by hire car, to visit my partners grandfathers village, and that was an adventure. Our time there, in our 700 year old apartment was fantastic, we loved every minute. The people were friendly, and the food was fantastic. We had such a wonderful experience that we felt we could have stayed there forever.

3:35 bottom text: it’s POLPETTE, not “polpetti” 🙂 Apart from this little mistake, as an Italian I can affirm that this video is pretty much accurate! To be honest it’s not that true that you should not expect “extreme” nightlife here, it simply depends on where are you going in terms of cities (there are some which are more inclined to nightlife as compared to others, of course) and places within that city (pubs, discos, clubs usually target different types of customers). Enjoy your stay in our wonderful Country, have fun and remember to get home at the end of your vacation a free souvenir you really can’t miss: a piece of Italy in your heart for the rest of your life! 🇮🇹

Old cities don’t do good on the subject. I’ve been there twice with small kids, it was hard to get around with a stroller. It may give you a hint of it. I guess with many ours of planing you may get around to some places. It is not the case the city do not want to do a good job. The case is that more than 2000 years of history limits infrastructure changing. Not to discourage you, but be aware you won’t be able to visit many places if you use wheelchair or you walking is limited. I guess you may do this amazing trip with a wonderful planning. I can confirm everything is correct, but for 2 things. Italy actually is famous for nightlife (okay, maybe we don't have exactly an Ibiza in Italy, but honestly Ibiza is nowhere else in the world): big cities like Rome and Milan are full of clubs open all year long, but also university cities like Bologna have vibrant nightlife, on top of holiday places like Gallipoli, Sardinia, Eolie Islands and Riviera Romagnola, which bustle with clubs and places where you can spend the night. The second thing is the assumption Italians don't want to talk about politics: Italians LOVE to talk about politics, they do it all the time and, especially if you come from abroad, Italians will be happy to entertain political conversations with foreigners.

We did that in Florence, when we wanted to do a couple day trips into Tuscany, so instead fo trying to navigate the windy streets, we just took a cab to the Thrifty/Hertz branch at the Florence airport. The airport is right next to the highway, so once we had the car we were able to pop right on the highway. it saves a lot of time and stress.

I'm from Naples and i travelled all the south of Italy: my GPS NEVER failed, NEVER. If you have experienced a single failure it doesn't mean this is the rule. Maybe updating your gps? :D Oh, I forgot: there are not only "Rome, Florence and Venice"... I don't know why you all tend to forget stunning and ancient cities such as Naples or Palermo. If I were a foreigner visiting Italy, you can be sure that I would AT LEAST visit Naples (along with Rome, Venice and Florence). It's a small country but there are too many incedible cities to visit. Ten days? It isn't really enough, especially if you come from another continent: I suggest you to have at least 20 days. Only in Naples you need 10 days if you want to visit the best places in Nales (not all), Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii and the Vesuvius, two or three days in Florence and Venice and five days to visit Rome. And you have visited only the four main cities, but you can say you've made a really worthwhile trip. You cannot say that you have visited Italy if you do not see at least every of these four cities, because they are all very different and all have a different lifestyle.

Il sud sarebbe bellissimo e probabilmente l'Italia potrebbe essere la California dell'europa, ma il problema è sempre la gente.

"Don't expect an amazing breakfast" is just wrong. Don't expect a huge salty breakfast, but the sweet cornetto (it's not called croissant in italy, and there are different creams you can have in it instead of just empty), or pastry (even cannolo, sfogliatella and many other sweets in south) do indeed taste amazing, even if it's not the salty breakfast you may be used to. Moreover, if you're still hungry, you can just order more than one thing and try different things, as it's almost impossible to find them (authentic) outside of Italy (many things differ even from region to region in Italy, and can't be found outside of the region they're typical of)

You can order Cappuccino at anytime and any where in Italy. There are many cities night never exists like Rimini, Cesenatico, Riccione, Catholica, Pesaro, Ravenna, Cervia, Sambenedetto, Pescara and many others especially in summer. Even in many towns and cities along Mediterranean sea. These areas bubble and boil 24/7 from May to September.

@@elisa48092 il fatto e' che in alcuni paesi/culture questa abitudine e' ancora socialmente accettata nonostante non igienica e piuttosto disgustosa. Anche in Italia un tempo lo e' stata. FYI since this year every business in Italy MUST accept card payments (also people selling on the street, small business, everyone selling legally must have a device to allow card payments)...I'm not saying this is implemented everywhere, so do carry some cash with you and be careful, but if the situation is bad or you feel like you're being scammed (e.g. they are asking for a HUGE sum and won't allow you to pay with card) or you suspect something is not legal ask if they accept card payment and just call the police (there is one police force which handles this sort of issues: Guardia di Finanzia) and they can fine the business for not allowing you to pay with card. Just beware that this will cost you some time & bureaucracy...

I've heard so many people say that spaghetti and meatballs is an Italian-American dish and Italians don't eat it. I'm an Italian-American living in Italy 18 years. Maybe it happened that this Italian-American dish went back to a least some parts of Italy. Where I live, I can find various prepared pasta sauces in jars at the supermarket. One of them includes lots of little meatballs. Before I got internet at home, I went to a wi-fi cafe in the afternoon and always ordered a cappuccino. The barista didn't blink. When it was ready, since he didn't know my name, he just called out "Cappuccino!" and I knew that was me.

As a Sicilian Sardinian Italian who grew up in Milan I can say that the video is accurate but the question of cappuccino is a bit outdated: you can order what you want and the barman has the duty to serve it to you. In the afternoon is a bit strange but there are times when I want it. I am anomalous but no one tells you anything. I studied in Latvia for 6 monthsand I have continuously traveled between the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. The first thing I noticed was the order of the streets, the pedestrians, all very synchronized. xD xD

I'm German who lives in Italy whose partner is Italian. I advice visitors who couldn't speak italian, to know your budget well and let it known, once you order take note of the prices of what you order. Avoid arguements over small things, so pay as you order, specially if its just a cup of coffee, coz' some restaurants in touristic areas take advantage of tourist, they can over charge and not during high season. "Do give tip" not unless you feel you got ripped off.

We've Got to Improve Our Music Entertainment, but It's not True that There Isn't anything at All. If You go to the Riviera Romagnola, Versilia in Tuscany, or Lago Maggiore (Arona) in Piedmont, You're able to See Many Disco Clubs and Disco Pubs, and Discoteques on the Beach (Riccione and Milano Marittima). Anyway some Italians are Trying to learn English, so Don't Worry, and Enjoy Your Journey to Italy. Grazie. Some very good tips. Found out the hard way about the restricted zones when the 190 Euro fine came in the mail months later. In Pisa we didn't see the sign, likely wouldn't have known what it meant anyway, it was a shorter way to where we wanted to go. Cash, always keep some change for those pay toilets (WC). Our experience with filthy toilets was an eye opener. The pay toilets were well kept and worth the cost. I love Italy, going back this spring for 6 weeks. Trying to learn more Italian before I go, we expect tourists to speak English or at least try when they are here, so we don't need to be arrogant and expect Italians to accommodate us when there. Besides it is a good way to expand our minds and ward off alzheimers to learn another language. Go and enjoy the culture, art, architecture and the amazing food. Cin cin alla salute.
