In high school there was a boy who was born with only half of one arm (the other was normal length). He was a very active and popular kid. I knew him for 2 years or more before I finally felt comfortable enough to ask him what happened to his arm. He told me it was a shark attack 🤣 Anyways one day he tells me he went to the hospital for something unrelated and another kid was there with a similar arm issue and he was walking around sulking and asked this boy how he can be so happy and confident while missing half his arm. He said it didn’t make sense to be upset about it because he’s capable of doing everything just like everyone else is. Nowadays he lives on a farm (tends to it), goes hunting, fishing, etc. I really believe that the way people around you bring you up (or down) can totally build your confidence or shatter it. He thankfully always had lots of friends and family who never cared what his arm looked like.
