Jackie Gleason was best known for his portrayal of Ralph Kramden in the television series The Honeymooners. His father abandoned the family, and Gleason dropped out of high school in order to support his mother. He earned money with odd jobs, pool hustling, and performing in vaudeville. After the death of his mother, Gleason began to sharpen his comic talents in local nightclubs. It after that he acted in many films and shows. One of the popular shows he casted was the honeymooners.
The Honeymooners was popular not only because of Gleason but also because of the comic sparks between Gleason and costars Art Carney, who played Kramden’s dim-witted but devoted friend Ed Norton, and Audrey Meadows, who portrayed his long-suffering wife. In 1955 to 1956, for one TV season, Gleason turned The Honeymooners into a half-hour situation comedy.
