OKAY.....love the video. Has anyone read or watched The Terror (season 1) where it is implied that an Inuit shaman (sixam ieua) is responsible for managing a violent arctic spirit loyal to Sedna. This shaman has their tongue removed to only allowed to speak in TONE to the spirit. If the shaman is not strong enough or has not passed on their role to another shaman....the spirit grows VERY angry and violence and pain follow to the people. Maybe Annie was trying to save the town by becoming shaman. Or the scientist knew something was very wrong and sacreficed her in order for her to be the conduit to the spirit. Crazy. FYI The Terror by Dan Simmons is awesome.

Thanks for your very compelling recaps! You manage to point out what viewers may have overlooked, and you are doing it with a no-nonsense approach. It's not necessary to produce two-hour videos. It's always difficult to decide if something which we believe to be very significant, is indeed an important clue, or if it's just a continuity error. It's also possible that the show-runners have used fridge logic or that they have jumped the shark and we have to suspend our disbelief 😉 We have the tendency to over-analyse everything, and we forget how difficult it is to make a movie or a tv-show and that many people are involved. It's not possible to get everything right!

@@thebrimtruthreviews , I think that your hunch concerning Rose was spot on. I don't know if she is a ghost. But there is something seriously off about her. Navarro is the only one who has contact with her - and Navarro seems to get more and more mentally unbalanced. But maybe Rose isn't a ghost but Navarro's imaginary friend - like James Stewart's huge bunny Harvey 😉 Imaginary friends are not ghosts, because they are only in the minds of their friends. But ghosts are independent entities. I have to say that I get more and more frustrated with the show, since there is so little progress as far as the main plotlines are concerned. I have the suspicion that many things will remain unexplained, including many supernatural elements. I would not mind if we don't learn every detail about the private lives of all characters. But there hasn't been an ounce of progress as far as Annie K's murder is concerned, we haven't learned much more about Leah, and shouldn't Hank be important for the main plot?

Season 4 opens with quote from Hildred Castaigne, a character from The King in Yellow (Hastur), who the cult worshipped in the first Season. Hastur has an son name Ithaqua. If you look into Ithaqua, He is believed to prowl the arctic wastes and has been called Yeti and Wendigo. Ithaqua also has a small native american cult that worships him, and they reside in Siberia, Canada and Alaska. Those who join his cult are granted immunity to extremely cold temperatures. Ithaqua is not bound by terrestrial limits and can teleport great distances in the blink of an eye, even to other worlds or dimensions. Has been known to accept human sacrifice in return for this limitless space travel, cosmic truths and strange magics. One of a few that are able to teleport to the planet, Carcosa Ive had this theory since after the first episode. This is the first Im posting of it online.

What if the "We woke her" comments refer to a mother polar bear awoken, quite hungry, from her hibernation in an ice cave? We have seen a stuffed polar bear missing an eye and a real life polar bear, missing an eye walking through the town of Ennis. Also, there are polar bear clubs where men plunge into freezing cold water naked. Perhaps the scientists had such a group and that's why their clothes were neatly folded. All of their yelling from the freezing cold water awoke the polar bear. Her appearance and angry growling could have caused heart attacks in most of the men trying to get away from her in addition to the shock to their bodies from freezing water. The one guy who is missing was able to run away but in a state of shock. The homemade booze which Navarro's boyfriend makes and sells as well as the contaminated water may be causing people to hallucinate which would explain some of the other weirdness in addition to no day light. Any thoughts?
@jannmuller5128
8 ай бұрын
I'm definitely in the "everything supernatural is imagined" camp and your explanation makes a lot of sense. Hadn't considered the effect of the homemade booze before but yes of course that's another factor, on top of the contaminated water, that can mess with people's perception.

HANK seems like he was a guy dumped by Annie,maybe for Clark,and he was jealous. Weird that Clark had cash to buy trailer, and Hank tells his bride to be in text that he's still got some cash left...from what? Taking a bribe to quash Annie's murder investigation? Are the Tsalal scientists paid in CASH? Why is Qavvik asking Navarro about her mom? Does he know something and wants to see if the story SHE tells matches up with what he knows?(Like Pete asking Liz about her &Navarro and wheeler case)...then Pete tries to get his Dad's version...Rose told Navarro, "The dead want to tell you what you need to know,to show you something or want to take you with them....oh boy only 3 more episodes!!!Nice recap!!!

ALSO even tho' Pete's dad accuses liz of similiar saying she's pullin a "Mrs. Robinson on my son" (referencing "Mrs. robinson from Dustin Hoffman film The Graduate) he said such just to get under Liz's skin. Liz and Pete are strictly platonic and more motherly relationship as such an awful by liz would be completely counter to her professionalism.

Enjoyed your recap. I'm going to stick with Liz's approach and assume that there must be a non-supernatural explanation for everything. That being the case, something is causing mass halucinations leading to murder. Also, this must not only be in Alaska, but Louisiana as well, in order to justify the delierate tie in between seasons 1 & 4. Can a toxin cause multiple people to have similar hallucinations? Well, that does seem to be the case with Ayahuasca - specifically the reports of visits from gnomes who happen to be - blue! I'll be on the lookout for more clues down this path in upcoming episodes. But there are also human elements that usually center around greed, some ilicit source of profit and the motivation of bad actors to hide ill gotten gains from the outside world. Ancient myths and the fear they can generate serve as good cover, especially when tied in with local culture. We'll see what develops... but those are the elements I'm looking to verify.

Until we know Rust's lost years when he quit the Louisiana PD and came back to pay his debt then we are going to remain in the dark. Did Annie's gruesome death propel Rust to go back and solve the case? Remember the 1st thing he said to Marty was we didn't get them all... For Rust maybe the sprawl as he put it was so much more than just the people but the absorption of this mind set spreading like a virus ... This place is like a town the world forgot. Well what town is more forgettable in the American conscience than Ennis the 24 hour darkness and in that scenario the darkness IS winning because there isn't a beam of light or stars to denote the positive... Although Izza is a very different writer and so far a vastly inferior writer of dialogue , I’m still curious and drawn in by the mystery. I’m hoping there isn’t a supernatural explanation to these events as that would be unfortunate. I like the focus on strong feminine characters as well as the careful depiction of indigenous people and culture. In fact that may be the most compelling aspect. I don’t think the writing is capitalizing on the constant night aspect of the season however and compared to seasons 1-3 the character development is lacking, perhaps too many characters . It feels like a network TV mystery and not True Detective .

I read somewhere that the writer already had this story, and the executives at HBO asked her to rework it into a True Detective season. So it was basically retrofitted into the True detective universe. They should have just let her create it without the TD branding. Jody Foster is big enough. An HBO limited serious entitled Night Country starring Foster would have sufficed. No need to force this thing into an already established series.

So Annie and Clark are having an affair on this serial killer trailer and tied all this all evidence into Inuite mythology and they started spinning out on his work this evidence trailer the environmental devastation around them etc... Like the Yellow King story reading it makes one go mad so did their fun game of dissecting the trailer take on an almost religious experience? We know Travis Cohle led Rose to the corpsickle so that's for sure super natural but I keep feeling like this story is more tied to that , the Tutles corp funding the research and Clark isn't the bad guy he's just plain crazy with grief and is living the Flat Circle AKA the tattoo and if he's a true believer then he is destined to repeat the same things over and over so it's like he's out searching for Annie wanting that time to happen again and again and again

I really love your comment. It's honest. Brief and to the point. I've seen so many replies that can be angry or unkind. Thank you

I really wanted this show to be good. But, it was so bad. I don't think there was one character that I liked. There was nothing mysterious or interesting about this show.

All good but absolute majority of the viewers hate the season 4 and maybe be little less politics(woke b s) less symbolism and more good storytelling would be more beneficial to the show, it’s not some French new wave film or Italian Neorealism after all

I will pray for those who ha've been born with abnormaly small imaginations. And secondly I'm very into the one eyed bear. Mama earth needs all the help she can get. Native people may be their only hope of under standing how much they have urinated on themselves at that tech. Place. Some things rant supposed to be found. And if you do axedently The Great Mother might just slap your hands. And or you may start things in motion that no man can stop. Dinah

@@dinahbrosius2250 I am the reckoning. I am the 3rd revelation. My vengeance will echo like the crashing of a thousand waves. My rage is untethered and knows no bounds. This show stinks! Go on now!
