Except that as far as the world was aware at the time it was an internal conflict in Ukraine and the "separatists" had barely any military equipment. We've since learned that it was Russia sending soldiers into Ukraine to pretend to be "separatists" and had been given all sorts of military equipment rebels couldn't have gotten. Including the air defence system the Russians used to shoot down MH-17.
@rileyfaelan

Consider, though, that Buk missiles are particularly high-reaching missiles. (The name comes from the Russian word for beech trees, which fall on the taller side, as tall trees go.) Had they been genuine separatists, Girkin's pals would not have any access to it, nor able to hurt planes flying that high. It is only because they were actually Russia's front group that they got access to such missiles, and there's some reasonable excusability for making the assumption that they were just separatists at this, relatively early, point, in the war,, as wrong as it was.

@@blzrdadomin8tr The US FAA had issued a warning in around March 2014 (even before Mh370 went missing) about potential surface to air missile threats over Eastern Ukraine. Some other airlines like EVA Air, Air India, Singapore Airlines who had flights in the same area where MH17 was shot down also never heeded this warning. It just so happens Malaysia got unlucky, but I hope our national airline has learnt from Mh17. We can’t play with lives to save fuel costs crossing over a warzone with potential military threats there.

2014 was such a tragic year for Malaysia Airlines. One not soon to be forgotten. I remember when this happened. Pictures from the scene soon reached aviation forums and discussion boards. It became very obvious within about 72 hours that the plane had been shot down. Russian soldiers were seen removing hardware from the still very recognisable cockpit wreckage. But they couldn't stop a bystander taking pictures of part of the fuselage skin that surrounded the captain's left hand window. In that skin were punched the tell tale bowtie shaped holes from the unique shape of the Buk missile's fragmentation payload. No other missile could leave those shapes punched in the fuselage. A Buk 1-M missile launcher was then also seen leaving the area with 1 of its 4 missiles missing. The Russians can deny it all they want, their missile shot MH17 down.

I don't know if I would agree they just didn't care. In the very same video, she talks about an actual Ukrainian military plane being shot down in the area, so obviously, to separatists, there were enemy planes to monitor for. They saw something that appeared to fly very similarly to the one that was shot down earlier, at that point, it sounds like they had more reasons to believe it was another one of the Ukrainian planes, than not. Everyone is quick to blame this solely on Russia, but again, in the video we just watched, she mentioned, and I appreciate some level of fairness in this otherwise very one-sided story, that Ukrainian traffic controllers, and the Malaysia Airlines, are also partially at fault for putting the plane right inside an active war zone, where another plane was just shot down! What were they thinking? Or was it, perhaps, done on purpose? I don't trust those Ukrainians anymore that Russians.

Oh, about the AN-30B flight that was shot by Girkin on 06 of July in 2014 (thanks for mentioning him, hope he gets out of Russian prison to go straight to Hauge). I live in the city, in which part of the flight crew lived and where the plane was based. When it happened, my close friend told me about it before it hit the news. She said that part of the crew was in the military together with her father, and he even serviced that plane. It was devastating news in our city and the news of the shot down Malaysian Boeing didn't get to me then. Now, we have a memorial graveyard in the city, where the bodies of two members of the flight crew lie. A school near me is named after the captain of this flight, and the street on which I live now is also named in honor of the member of the flight crew, who lived on this street before the tragedy.

A very detailed analysis. Factual check: I found only 2 inconsistancies (in the order of appearence) 1. The governemental buildings were not seized in Maidan revolution. The parlament functioned. Yanukovich has fled 3-days after the massacre, and the parlament had to feel a gap in legislation, passing a law declaring the President as such that has willingly abandoned his responsibilities. 2. The shot-down of Il-76 with 49 military on board happened on 31 of May, not on 14th of July. It was done at an about 300 ft of altitude using a hand-held Stinger-like rocket launcher. The An-26 transport, however, was taken down on 14th of July at 15000 ft. Otherwise, a very good detailed documentary.

"Otherwise, a very good detailed documentary." Is it? It's a typical Western fake! Where is the objective analysis of the data from the cockpit microphones? Where is the complete lay-out of the aircraft wreckage in its original form? Where is the complete data from the flight recorders and their competent analysis? Where are the data from Ukrainian radar and USA satellites? Where is the data from the procedure of weighing the I-beam(The Dutch called it a bow tie). Just one, because there are 1870 of them in the 9N314M warhead! Where are the results of structural analyses that forced the Dutch to divide the debris striking elements into three different groups by chemical composition? In reality, all striking elements of 9N314M warhead are made of the same grade of steel, and therefore have the same chemical composition!.....

The next morning, I found out my colleague had her best friend lost their family in the doomed flight. Meanwhile within a week after this tragedy, 2 major aircraft crashes happened (Air Algerie 5017 & TransAsia 222). Also this Malaysia Airlines flight was not only full but had one extra passenger onboard (283 in total with the 282 person capacity), despite what happened to this airline 4 months earlier. One harrowing thing was it happened during the fasting month like a week before the Eid. I distinctly remember a family onboard going home for the celebration.

And not only because they wanted money for the use of their airspace, but because on 8 March 2014 they knew that the West had prepared a provocation. After all, on 8 March 2014 the special services of the West, the Five Eyes Alliance, tested on flight MH 370 how to blow up flight MH 17 and create the illusion that it was shot down by Putin's anti-aircraft missile.

I don't see any definitive evidence here to make me take the word of the socalled 'separitists' (a lot of whom were just incognito russian soldiers in the first place) that this was a misident-- I find it just as likely that this was an effort at a 'false flag' operation to intentionally down a civilian plane and then blame it on Ukraine-- hence why the missile launcher was moved in and then moved BACK to russia so quickly- that wouldn't make sense otherwise from a military logistics and planning standpoint.

The problem is that separatists bragged on social media about bringing down the aircraft. They hid the Buk launcher because they realized they effed up. The Buk TELAR only has a fire control radar, not a search radar as part of a full battery. If it were a false flag, they'd use a search radar to make sure they did it right.

EuroControl should have declined the flight path as they deliberately flew over a warzone. That was bad enough, but a couple weeks later, the same airline got caught flying a passenger flight over Syria.

I love the balance you strike between highlighting the tragedy, and how terrifying it must have been to the people on board, and dealing out straight facts.

You should go to the next step, independent filmmaking.

Thanks for making a video on this Chloe! I had a family member who was on her way from Ireland to NZ and she stopped over in Amsterdam. MH17 was one of the flights she could have taken that day, thank god she skipped it and took an Emirates flight to Abu Dhabi instead. God bless❤

Question is - many other airlines (Singapore Airlines, Air India, etc) were flying that standard skyway that day. Another question, why did/was the flight diverted south from the northern flightpath, down into the war zone??

The flight didn't divert anywhere. Like Chloe explained in the video, the flight deviated 7 miles north of L980, and then flew parallel to the airway to avoid the storm.
