I appreciate your video because a lot of people tend to not be real when a guy is likable, which Cooper is. The same people would blast anybody else with his shooting numbers at Auburn, but they really thought he was going to play when the Hawks already have a young SUPERSTAR at his position? High school and even college are still nowhere near NBA level. He has potential and I wish him well. He was definitely fun to watch in college but once he gets stronger and gets his confidence in his J he will be fine. I try to find these Shariffe videos so that I have a full perspective of the hype that surrounds him. I’m not saying that I don’t believe he can one day be great in the NBA, but I do not believe him to have earned valuable minutes in the NBA until recently. Before, the only argument for Sharife’s potential in the NBA was his high school performance. He showed progress in his ppg which was amazing to earn him minutes at Auburn. However, his stats in college (despite games he missed ) were not impressive enough for ANY NBA team to write him off as a rookie deserving of NBA roster minutes. You all can hate the Hawks all you want for not playing him, but no team would have done any different. The G-league is providing him, as Shannon Sharpe would say, “ an opportunity to update his resume.” He has started to put up great stats the second part of his G-league season which can land him on next year’s roster. Sharife is talented, but it is especially because of his size he will always have to prove himself. Most have seen one 42 point game from Sharife in G-League and say “he should be in the NBA, Hawks are dumb for not playing him.” However, I and I’m sure the Hawks are looking at can he do it consistently ( not exactly 42 but high scoring). He is a questionable 6’1 guard, so shooting has to be something he is effective at in order to be dominant and to overshadow his many weakness. 20 pts in the G-league does not convert to 20 in the NBA. However, 30 G-leauge could give him at least 12pts in the NBA playing 20 minutes. He has proven he can consistently shoot the ball this season, we’ll see if it’s enough for next year.
