6-4-3 or 4-6-3; those are usually really pretty to watch (unless, of course, it's the team I'm rooting for that hits into them!! 😁) 😉👍🏿

My favorite double play is when an outfielder catches it and the runner on third tags up, but leaves too early then the pitcher steps off the rubber and appeals to third and the ump agrees.

so you get the force out at 1st, that runner going from 1st to second needs to be tagged? that doesn't count as a force out?

tag outs are not force outs, no.

Hate bunts lol so any play or double play involving a bunt so any chance to make them pay for it I'm all for and getting the catcher or pitcher in on it makes it more fun and cooler

Great discussion! I really loved how you had so many video examples of everything you described. It is very impressive to see big leaguers whip that ball around the diamond. I have umpired high school games for nearly 30 years. I think some of the most difficult double plays to execute are the ones where the final out has the runner in the throwing lane of the fielders. I see a lot of errors on these types of plays. One example is when the 1st baseman decides to first step on the bag after fielding a grounder and *then* throw to 2nd. It's tough getting that ball around the runner and I frequently see the ball thrown away. The same can happen on the X-2-3 double plays where the catcher has to quickly throw it to 1st without hitting the batter. This last one is made a bit easier since the batter-runner has to be in the running lane (foul territory). That's not the case between other bases.

100%. 3-6 DPs get botched SO often because of the running lane issues. Even pro fielders are only accurate with their throws to maybe a 12" radius, so even they will hit the runner in the head, the shoulder, etc. For amateurs its even harder. I had it happen to me as a pitcher my last two seasons - botched 3-6s on plays that should have gotten me out of an inning. Frustrating but its just a hard play. Thanks for watching!

Im a first baseman so im a bit biased but 3-6-3 is so satisfying to pull off, unfortunately they are so rare because the ball has to be far enough from first so that you throw it right to second but not far enough for 2nd base to get it

As with every ball game, the tactical setup and discipline, the performance and form on the day of the individual player and the respective game situation are so closely intertwined that each of those double plays can turn out to be interesting.

How about a catched ball and runner on second not on base does player who catches the ball has to tag or just touch the base
